I think the slimy head is from an infection similar to "ick" in aquarium fish that usually happens after a fish has been handled or caught before. Most of them die from this disease.

Do you think that maybe the minerals are really rich in that area and they are getting a little too much of it. Because that was 3 fish that were slimy and the only thing that was weird is they just filled this area with water. Maybe too much of a good thing is sometimes a bad thing
