Love the black baldies. Would you guys ever consider getting a Charolais bulls to get some Charolais genetics in your herd?

About 13 years ago I purchased 20 Charolais from a neighbor who was retiring. Great cows! A little bit of Attitude with some of them, but big framed and put the pounds on their calves! Bred them all to black angus bulls and Hereford bulls. Excellent cross! But I’ve never tried using a Charolais bull on my cows. Still plenty of time to try something new down the road haha

Do you have a certain age where you sell cows off to be culled? Or do you let them stay to whatever age if they’re still producing healthy calves? My grandpa would them wayyyy too long. Old enough to vote, as he said. 😂

@@jayholcomb3222 we’ll keep a cow as long as she’s producing and doing a good job raising healthy calves. Oldest we’ve ever had was 21! But once they get up there around 10+ years old and if we start seeing issues with bags or feet. They’ll head to town!

@@allstockhay Oh wow! Yeah 21 is old. Lol. It was always hard to see the cows you’ve had on your farm for years headed to town.
