    I own the same bike,don't ride with the right mirror folded in, if you turn left the brake lever will hit the mirror and apply the brake.

      mr. destructive I don’t think a goldwing is designed to be a touring bike that you take off tarmaced roads. That’s what the adventure bikes are for no?

      So true..... Hit a VW bus old one with silly 3' wide mirrors added to it that swung over on me cutting through traffic clipped the mirror back as I tried to turn left to avoid it all. I ride with my fore finger and sometimes second finger over the brake lever at all times and as the handle bars went left I managed to flick the mirror back open again. But have locked the brake up as you mentioned when parking close to my garage door. Folding it in on purpose then trying to straighten or stand upright cause problem locking brakes when actuating steering lock.

    The Goldwing is a great commuter. I used 2 of them for more than a decade of commuting. 186,000 miles on the first one, 235,000 on the second. Traded the last one in on a BMW R1250RT. I am also using the BMW as a back and forth to work vehicle. Nice thing on touring bikes is you can stop at the store and get groceries or what ever. The utility is as good as an economy car, power to embarrass sports cars and a great warranty. Best type of vehicle available touring and sport touring bikes.

    I'm still driving my 1980 wing and yes you can use it as a daily driver. The hard part is stopping at your job......so easy to sail on by and apologize later.

      Agreed, I daily drive my 2012 goldwing everyday and even during winter time here in Tx. 35 degrees is my low temperature limit but rarely ever go below that. Upper temperature is bearable most of the time on highways. Rain makes my ride slower but still doable but gust of wind is my achelles heel.

    I use my 2018 Goldwing as a daily driver. Best dialy ride I've ever had, and I've had many While it's heavy ,it's amazing low speed maneuverability and torque makes it perfect.

    Good video! I’ve commuted 110 kilometres daily in Edmonton city traffic for over 25 years on a GL 1500 and HD Ultra Limited and always enjoyed the large bikes for their comfort and caring capacity, they also have a good presence on the road that gets a little more respect from the cages.

      MOTOBOB I find because of the Goldwing DCT has a much lower center of gravity than the Harley and the smoothness makes it so much easier and also more comfortable to ride. And of course hats off to you for being so comfortable in London traffic. We don’t practice lane splitting and ride much less aggressive in Canada.

    I ride my 2018 Goldwing to work everyday. The best part of my day is usually the ride to and from work. I don’t have the traffic I’m seeing on your vid however, and here, you can’t lane split. But the bike ride is what saves my sanity. Lol

    Wonderful test ride in such tight spaces. I noticed the same with the neutral balance, and barely needing to drop a foot at slow crawls. Very nice.

    I have the Goldwing DCT and ride it into the centre of Melbourne every weekday. When I arrive at work, I feel chilled and relaxed. Years ago I had a 1996 Goldwing 1500 and rode that the same, however that felt like a BIG bike in the same traffic and ended up selling it as it was best suited for its true purpose; long distance touring. Back to the new 2018 DCT; it's fast nimble and the DCT makes it a breeze to commute which I've been doing for over 6 months now. Once you get used to the mirror width you easily filter the traffic with ease. Drag the back brake and find the sweet spot in the DCT to manoeuvre at extreme slow speed. Yes, it's long but as with all things you adjust. I love it! Then head out on the twisties or highway and soak it up.

      I want to get one as a daily driver, but I don't have a garage to park it in. I live in year long temperate weather, not to hot or cold. Do you think this bike will be fine outside all the time? Any recommendations if I did? Thanks in advance.

      Polish & wax should keep the shiny gloss paint protected but like any bike matt plastic like handlebar controls etc, continued exposure to the elements will fade and chalk off. Having said that, if you can secure it a bike cover will be fine and will protect it. I am lucky, I have undercover parking both at home and work. When I go on trips I consider a bike cover essential and cover it every night. Doing this, and by way of example, I had a 20 yo dark blue Honda ST1100 and all surfaces looked new when I sold it by caring for it that way, and I used that every day too in all weather, 37C down to 3C and raining. Hope that helps.

      @@zerozsinvest in a quality outside all weather cover along with keeping a hood coat of wax on the bike and you will be fine.
      I have to park a bike outside in upstate ny and doing what I rec above s has kept it looking good for many yrs with very little corrosion issues.
      But the key is the always keep a good coat of wax along with the expensive quality all weather water proof(not just water resistant !) breathable cover that collectively together are key to keeping the elements from ruining the bike cosmetically. Also,make sure to apply a product on all rubber parts & seat to protect them from outside elements too. If you get a cheap cover & don’t wax it & apply rubber & seat protectant often enough the outside Storrage WILL eventually degrade the bike for sure!

    Great review. I remember behind my cousin when he bought a second hand Goldwing 1000 fourcylinder, that torque already vlew me away then! Still the same red dark metallic colour! I commute with a Piaggio Xevo 250 scooter in Antwerp, Belgium (0.5 million inhabitants) and I'm perfectly happy with it.

    I have an even heavier GoldWing, a 2015, and have used it daily, weather permitting. I don’t ride in the rain any more as I am retired and don’t have to go out if I don’t want to. The GW is a fantastic scoot because it’s so versatile. Anything can ride along. I carry as much as four big cloth bags of groceries, tools from Lowe’s. I go to the barber, movies, doctor appointments, it’s all good.

    In my younger days I had a succesion of ZZR 1100's (D3-D6). These I used for my daily commute, 50 miles each way along the A338. The only time I would take the car was if it was snowing when I was due to leave. The Z was an awesome machine and truly was the greatest moment of my working day.
    The weather would never phase me as I had spent and chosen well to get the suitable gear, enabling me to stay toasty and dry. Having retired to Spain I often fancy venturing back into bikes again but this time maybe a cruiser. Ride safe guys, great video

      I commute on my 2012 Wing, and a Multistrada (pretty even split between them). 35 mile one-way commute. Awesome in cold weather, or in rain.

    I own GL1800 f6b, use it everyday from march till october, now on my odo there are 180k km in 4 seasons. Live in big town with heavy traffic. No problems with it)

    I come from Harley Electra Glides and Road Glides - in comparison to those, this is not a big bike. The more time you spend on it, the lighter and more nimble it feels. I like my Harleys but I love my Gold Wing.

      I agree it is actually very manageable. A lot people run scared of the 383kg. I am 5' 6" and weigh 10 stone. Bought my DCT Tour a year ago. I have no problems with it at all. I do use it mostly for longer distances but I do sometimes use it as a local runaround. Taking it in to town and parking up with the mopeds, scooters and other smaller bikes is no problem at all. The forward and reverse walking modes make life a doddle. For people my size it is actually easier to handle than most of the big adventure tourers and my old ST1100. I absolutely love mine. It is all just a question of confidence. Approach it as a motorbike, which it is and a very, very good one at that, jump on and ride it and you will have no problems. If you are scared of it you will have big problems. But that applies to any big bike.

    I have a new 2022 Goldwing and live near London. I’ve been around town on it and it’s great! I absolutely love the Wing! I had an Africa Twin and a XDiavel before this, and this bike it much easier to get around on.

    Seen this video before. Just relaxing with a glass of vino, and fancied watching it again. Superb video mate, and I can see myself in a few more years with one. I am just about to retire and spend more time with a couple of my bikes, one of which is the original Goldwing, GL1000 flat four, from 1975 - not the nineties. Oh you young lads - you have so much to learn 👍😉

    I rode a max'd out BMW touring K in city conditions and heavy traffic for many years. It is not about how big the bike is, it's about to do you have a safe/good place to park it! As long as you have a place to park your MC, the size does not matter.

    I had Harley Road King for 3 years and used it 365 days a year in havy trafic of Tel-Aviv. you get use to the big size.

      Or Shahar orna.shahar +1. Own a Street Glide and can confirm. I don’t prefer it to riding my Smaller bikes, but once used to the weight and size, I can lane split with confidence. The size and noise also makes me less likely to be bullied by taxis etc.

      My daily is a KTM 1290 SAR, which is smaller but tall in a way few bikes are and it's just fine once you become accustomed.

      Same. I had a 99 Roadking that was my daily rider. I added air suspension so I could lower the suspension in heavy traffic; effectively lowering the center of gravity.

      Yep, have had a Road King since 2011, have ridden it across Australia twice and through quite a few cities and amazingly I've never really had a problem lane splitting. Locally (Newcastle) no problem, some parts of Sydney though get a bit tight but it would be tight on a small scooter too.

    I have an Indian Roadmaster, was looking at getting a goldwing before this model came out, but my wife found the pillion seat too wide, but still a great bike. I find the roadmaster although a heavy bike ( around 422kg ) it's quite well balanced. Great review.

    I use BMW R1200GS with panniers and top box quiet often as a means of transport. I do lane split without any problem. I save a lot of time during heavy traffic. With practice, you can do lane split with any bike.

    Great vid Rob and great bike eh? So far I've only had a brief first ride on the Gold Wing but I quickly new it was something special - I'm getting a long term loan from Honda in the spring...I suspect this very bike...and I can't wait to do some longer runs with Mrs Flyer on the back. So you've handled the in town stuff, I'll have a go at touring! Thoroughly enjoyed your summing up and getting me all excited about having your hand-me-down!!

      I’m sure you’ll enjoy it - there’s boatloads of space for the mrs on the back, although my wife is too heavily pregnant for biking so I had Tim fulfil pillion reviewing duties and he loved it, my riding aside.
      One word of caution - I had the ignition on to film the lights, screen, navigation etc etc. But forgot I’d left the heated seat and grips on, so ran the battery flat. Had to call the AA because I was miles from home (and it’s 380kg so not much chance of pushing it). The procedure to get to the battery is quite something - remove the fallback key from the keyless device, pop a panel off the back of the bike with a flathead, use the key to manually unlock the left pannier which is normally electronically opened, then pop a panel off which was hidden by the pannier door to reveal the battery... whew! The AA guy couldn’t believe it

    First....I enjoyed your video! Initially thought humorous for a daily rider in London! I live in Arizona, USA in a small town without any traffic lights. There is great touring in the Southwest...I've purchased a new 2019 base model and will receive soon after accessories are installed. I had a 2015 F6B which was a great bike, but old tech. I then had a BMW R1600B which was not as stable as the Honda, but damn what a motor! My 2017 Triumph T120 black may be my favorite bike over the past 50 years! Sorry for babbling....keep up the good work....I Subscribed! CHEERS !

    I ride a 15 Road Glide Ultra CVO. Way heavier but I never ride commuter traffic. Filtering as you call it, well, I am never in that much of a hurry to split lanes. Enjoyed your video and perspective.

    I did it for 7 years with my Brand new #674 Yellow ABS goldwing in 2001. No issues at all and that was 37 miles one way in stop and go traffic at times, and 115F out (Phoenix, AZ). I even drove in snow, (not much, but yes). I say hell yea you can!

    5 Glodwing 1100s, 1 goldwing 1500, and 2 Valkyries one of which I still own.. Cant wait to get my hands on the "bagger " version of this bike when the world gets back to normal... Enjoyed your video...Lived in London in the 70's and 80's , now in Miami.. Boy the London weather is awful..lol.

      Haha glad I got at least one laugh. I did one day out on it... but it was a bit boring the footage, just on the motorway. My dad's keen to do the NC500 though I think, so I'll have to see what I can borrow and maybe do that at some point either this year or next. But our 2nd baby is about a month away, so that's top priority at the moment! :)

    I don't commute as such but I do use my wing in central London all the time, no problem. Can't fit through the gaps that a scooter can but it's easy to filter and Lane split where there is room.

    Thanks for the Great Video riding through London Bob! I want to mention two things before commenting. I do not own a 2018 or newer Honda DCT Goldwing but I did get to know itas I was able to ride one for about an hour and tested a number of manuevers with it, including doing slow speed riding as I am a MSF Rider Coach in the states.
    Firstly, being in London you can legally lane split but in the USA unfortunately we can not, other than in the state of California!. That's right we can't even lane split on highways except in California. I know, what a waste of fossil fuels! That being said it would be interesting to hear your opinion if you think that the DCT Goldwing would be one of the best bikes to ride in London in if it WAS ILLEGAL to lane split (filter to the front)? Like a scooter or Ebike, there is no need to fatigue while stuck in traffic for long periods of your commute riding a DCT bike. So try to imagine how wonderful it would be having all the space and comfort and NOT having to shift up and down 4 gears just to stop at the very next light. Imagine doing this in traffic now for 45mins -1 hour. One thing you did not mention is that while some bikes are automatics and scooters have CVTs (Centrifical Clutches), the DCT Goldwing actually has 7 speeds (gears not a belt) and as such feels like a real motorcycle as it cycles through it's gears. Also, rider's can choose manual shift mode (using shift up/down paddle buttons) when they want to get sassy in the twisties for a quick downshift just prior to entering a sweet turn.
    Regarding performing U-TURNS and Riding Slowly Smoothly on a DCT bike:
    The best way to ride the DCT Goldwing is to never drag the front brake but actually the opposite, YOU should be dragging your rear brake. When moving on from a stop, try having your rear brake slightly depressed, now crack a little bit of throttle and hold the bike back from moving, then when ready, ease just a little bit up on the rear brake (SMOOTH). So you use the rear brake kind of like you would use your clutch lever on a standard transmission motorcycle. If you get decent you can try the same method while doing U-Turns, just be sure to have enough constant throttle (RPMs) and use that rear brake to allow the motorcycle to smoothly crawl at whatever speed you choose. Oh and of course, when doing U-Turns, Counterweight, crank your head around and look in the direction you want to go and you will be doing U-Turns as well as others with manual transmissions.

    I own the same bike but with much different riding conditions in the US. I don't ride to save time. I like to kick back and enjoy the ride. I bought the bike mostly to ride cross country. So the storage is a big concern. I ended up buying a bad that sits perfectly in the back seat which I can also rest back on. This works out great.

    Great review, thank you. I currently ride and have for last 15 years, a Kawasaki V2K (2009 cc, 1000 lbs) It is not nimble by any means but a lovely massive V-twin. I ride in the city but the highways is where it belongs. It is awesome at speed and stable with massive winds from mountain terrain and long massive truck trailers. I did test ride a wing 10 years ago (2 up) as my wife finds the V2K hard on her back. The wing was marvelous ride and very easy to handle compared to my V2k. However the wing seemed reluctant compared to the V2K power. Fast forward 10 years...I still love the V2K Vtwin but think it is now time to try out the new 2021 (or 2022) wing tours dct. I will be sad to say goodbye to the V2K, but I suspect that will pass as soon as get on the wing and go touring through the Rocky mountains with the heated seat and other creature comforts.

    I love this new Goldwing DCT, hate the price though. I could have a Tesla Model 3 for that kind of cash!
    My biggest bike is the CB1300 & ST1300 Pan European.
    My favourite daily rider is my current bike, BMW R1200RT 2010 model air cooled.
    It’s comfy, warm keeps me dry most of the time. It will also filter very well, as long as I leave the massive Panniers at home.

    Hi, i've bought the same DCT Goldwing in may 2018 - tosay I have 22'000km on the clock. I ride it every day in Geneva and it is just superb. Big of course but with easy handling. Best environement is mountains & passes, then riding in manual gearbox mode together with sport mode. Amazing. So long

    I'm a 365 (366 this year!) day/year rider, since I got rid of my car a while ago. But I live in Atlanta, Georgia, US, where we on average get one snow day per year. A (sport-) touring bike is actually the perfect city bike, because of the luggage. You can leave your helmet and gear on the bike if you go see a movie, e.g., and you can run your errands with it. I have a Kawasaki Versys 1000 with the standard side bags and a top trunk, a bit nimbler for city riding than the Wing, but pretty much as good for long distance. The biggest issue with city riding is that it is plain annoying, regardless of the bike.

    I owned a Rocket Tour. Loved it. It was my everyday bike in NYC. Only problem is no ABS on that bike. So, I had a situation where I wasn’t able to slow down fast enough in a situation and ended up crashing it.

    I own not one, but two Triumph Trophies, a first year SE 2013 and last year 2017. After over 50,000 miles on the first one, I found out they were discontinuing the model, and found a great deal on a new 2017, so I snatched it up. now almost 30,000 miles on that one. Absolutely love the bike, as do most owners. Fortunately I don't have to do much city riding, which is good, considering how top heavy the bike is. But as soon as it starts rolling, the weight goes away, and it's a great handling machine, and amazing on 500+ mile rides! There may be a Tiger 900 in my future, something I can use on halfway decent dirt roads.

    I have the same bike, I find it easy to filter compared to my previous RTs and GSs, it’s a lot narrower than initial looks. DCT makes it a doddle. The downer is cleaning it!

    Once on my old GL1200 I basically filtered round the M25 from the A12 to the M4 and out to Reading. About 80 miles, and I wasn't sitting about. This was rush hour on a Friday BTW. Clipped a mirror on a Transit near Slough but that was the only incident. This was about 15 years ago - I don't ride like that nowadays (much). But yeah, great big wide heavy barges will get through the traffic easier than you'd imagine if you haven't tried it.

    I went through Paris on the back of one in November, MotoTaxi. The rider was hustling it like it was a 125 scooter, I was really impressed. I had no idea it was a 'Wing, I assumed it was a maxiscooter.

    Coming back to watch this because I am two years into my Africa Twin and I'm ready to swap out my daily commuter (that occasionally gets out on a country roadtrip) bike. I ride in the winter, and live in the city (Wash DC). You can't always avoid the potholes. I find the wind pocket from the mirrors really interesting plus the heated grips and seat. Since technically, by the rules, if you follow the rules, we can't filter here in the states (aside from California), so the size doesn't discourage me. Of course a goldwing is not the ideal bike for the city, but you want what you want.

    Good video. The heavest bike I have ride'n is the Honda VFR 800 but I had some health problems had to sell it and buy a lighter bike thats why I like my GSX-R 750.

    I've ridden/own HD Electra Glide, Road Glide and Softail. A couple of my Harley riding buddies have switched to the DCT GW and they love it. I am really looking at the 2020 DCT GW, in stop and go traffic that no clutch pull sure seems nice. On another note I notice your lights in London go from red, yellow, green and you can go on the yellow light from a stop. When the light is green does it just switch directly to red? Here in the US its green, yellow, red.

    I've just purchased a 2021 Airbag model. It will be my 3rd Wing--the first being a '79 naked version, to which I subsequently added a Windjammer, followed by a 1997 that I rode across the U.S. twice. Loved that bike. But my experience is that lane splitting and filtering are for small, nimble bikes. If you're commuting on a Wing drive with the traffic. It's safer for the bike, safer for you, and it keeps tempers in check. The Wing is plenty big and heavy enough to be seen and demand its place in slow city traffic.

    I owned a Gold-Wing at the same time as a Honda NC750. My commute was 55 miles each way, and mostly motorway. I found the Wing the best on those days that were too cold, otherwise the practicality of the NC with it's narrower dimensions once I got into the city made it the bike of choice. I actually got rid of the Wing in the end due to the lack of use...

    My daily driver is an R1200RT. I'm not as "in town" as your ride, but I've never had an issue with it that would make me think it wouldn't be perfectly comfortable in the city.

    I rode a Big '09 Harley Electraglide in a city of 1,300, 000 for 10 years and a Goldwing for many years before that. Supreme comfort and storage. I got a bit older and decided to go lighter so I traded the Glide in for a 2019 Kawasaki W800 and love that bike, (a little more than half the weight). But man, I do miss that beautiful Harley. Great engine, great soul. But now I don't worry about dropping it when u-turning or maneuvering in the garage and backing it out of the garage and over the curb. When underway both the Electraglide and Goldwing were a piece of cake and super comfortable. I'm 5'9 and slim. If you are somewhat fit and not suffering from physical maladies you can ride these over 800 lb. Bikes just fine, only not quite as carefree as lighter bikes, especially in low speed maneuvering.

    I have a 2005 1800GL and the one thing that stops it from being a great daily driver is stop-and-go traffic. Wrangling that heavy of a bike in stop-and-go and often up hills gets old quick, and filtering isn't legal in the state where I live. But without stop-and-go traffic? Awesome. I can do grocery shopping on it, use it on the expressway no problem, the fairings and windshield keep me nice and warm, etc. And, yes, when I first got it I came from a 650cc V-Star Cruiser, and getting used to that weight at low speed took a while. Bikes that heavy are less forgiving at slow speeds. But it does get better with practice.

    Hello MotoBob, you asked for people using this bike as a daily commuter in traffic. Well I'm a very ecstatic owner of a 2018 Goldwing DCT non tourer. I had had the 1500 version years back, bought myself a BMW 1109 RT in 98 Honda Rune in 2004 and a BMW 1600 GTL in 2013. Little bit of back ground, I'm an ex patriot living in LA, California for 31 years. I have owned a couple of CNC machine shops specifically making concepts for the design studios in LA, Detroit and sometimes Japan with my main client being Honda R&D in Torrance. Some of these talented and resourceful designers have become personal friends over the years and I have proudly prototyped many parts for the motor vehicle and motorcycle design teams alike. I know first hand the extensive attention to detail that Honda puts into every bike for of transit they produce. I saw the launch of the 2018 Goldwing and I wanted one. I called my friend at HRA and asked him about this DCT model. He didn't even hesitate... Get the automatic one, you won't be sorry. At the time the dealers wanted over market price for them. That's a swear word to me after spending hundreds of hours helping prototype it. DelAmo motor sports had 5 on the floor in different levels of trim. I really wanted the smoked brownish one but figured first scratch and I could not buff it out. So I bought the czndy apple red one. Told the young chap there, go tell your manager, I'll give him $25k for this one cash, now. That didn't include the tax they wanted nor dealer prep. Which added over $2,709 to their $25k asking price.. Twenty mins later it was sitting outside and was having a full tank of gas added. Unriden, untested and relying on the experience of my Honda friend / designer, I had spent $25k and was on my way to Lake Havasu, AZ. With a shit eating grin from one ear to the other. I found the drive switch, it clunked into gear and I slowly pulled forward. This thing felt really light on the steering and very controllable. I made a left out of their driveway as a car came speeding around the corner, as eager as me to get to where he was going. (Friday afternoon traffic, Socal at its worse is a free for all). This would test my skills, I opened the throttle laid it down on the left and waited for that boot grinding crunch caught under the gear shifter as I reached for 2nd which had already happened and I was gone I'm about 5'9" 185 lbs. This bike is quick off the line. Seven speeds and a sport mode, the 125 hp feels like it's 300 horses trying to pull your arms off. I generally ride it in default tour mode. It's much tamer and a lot more controllable than scary mode in heavy traffic, Fly by wire controls don't sense a cable pull to open and close a throttle flap and needle. This is 4 valves per cylinder, fuel injection. Compared to the old 1830 cc GW I had this thing is way different. It's a tourer, it's a sports bike and when you can master the balance you can impress by doing one handed braking, pull up to the stop sign, stop, release the brake and take off again whilst rubbing your girlfriends private parts and getting a clip on the back of your helmet. So in answer to your question. Love this bike, more so than the BMW which was amazing until the screwed up the design of it by going all rounded on the body panels. The Honda has hard lines, beautifully sculpted and finish is flawless. Handling is incredibly good but I've scraped the pegs too many times. Pegs need more clearance and whoever decided to electronically limit the speed to 113 mph, needs shooting. Also tire choice is very limited with only a hand full of choices. Brakes wear out ridiculously quickly because you tend to have to stop all too quickly with those powerful and I meen powerful brakes because it's automatic. You can bump it down manually with the up down triptronic which I use for overtaking out of the car pool lane when spade is tight. The brakes 6 piston fronts Two sets are $200. Pricy because chances are you'll get 12,000 miles if you are lucky. I need to tale a third mortgage and replace front and rear this tome at 24,000 miles. I'll do the service myself.... As the only Honda dealer out o many, qualified to do a service in this bike does not lend you a loaner bike while your s is in their monkey's hands unlike BMW. For some reason time to time the Honda will stick in gear and not want to shift up. It happens really rarely but often enough that I hit shift up on the triptronic automatically now without screaming the nuts off at 600= rpm. I'm sure the tweek Honda did with the DCT with throttle and gearbox is because of this qwerky function that will happen when you least need it too.
    So I'm selling mine if anyone wants to buy it so I can get the new one. BTW 2018 infosystem sucks. Big screen great, clear but won't find half the shit I'm looking for and I still have not managed to hook my either my 2014 or my 2019 Shuberth helmet up to the bike properly. Worked perfectly on the BMW 7 years ago. Why can't Honda get their GPS off of garmin or TomTom. Because the wonderful improvements they are claiming are bug fixes they couldn't update for the 2018 edition.... Please admit it Honda..... And fix it. This is not Gen 6 but Gen 5 Rev 2.

    Very few bikers will realise just how much fun something like this can be. Twenty years ago I ran a BMW 1200LT for two years - a very similar bike to the Gold Wing. Thrashed it mercilessly, ground the pegs away and basically had a ball. So much fun.
    Late one afternoon it took me from middle England to South Devon in heavy rain to witness the total eclipse from a fantastic vantage point.
    Many other trips have left great memories.
    Ultimately, at the time, got fed up with the weight and the thrill of a fast bike won me back.
    3 years ago I tried to re-live the experience with a K1600GT which turned out to be an epic fail.
    Mighty tempted with this latest Wing.....Not ridden one...don't have a spare £30k....which may be a good thing...!!!!!

      Mine was the Current GT - Umm...! Overall impressive but dreadfully 'cloncky' gearbox completely at odds with the 6 cylinder - Not enough low down torque, Hands and feet exposed to the elements - crazy on such a bike (same on the GTL) Fortunately bought at the right price so didn't lose.

    Holy cow! 30k???? I do almost the same route commute as you and a good commuter bike is the one that you can nip in and out in between stationary cars and move around on your toes...I would be constantly fretting about width ,length and weight. Undoubtedly comfortable and great place to be but it's a great bike if your commute is along the M4. Looks fun tho, Nice review👍

    Your BMW K1600 friend...I just found out...on Facebook so grains of salt....but a number of BMW Motorcycles including K1600s are under a stop sell/stop drive order from BMW. Haven't heard of one of those for the Goldwing. Great video...and great demonstration of the usefulness of the reverse AND forward walking modes.

    I really enjoyed your video. As a Goldwing rider 2012, and my third one, I am really familiar with the Wings. Good job on the review but you really need to raise the helmet cam, all we are seeing is the dash on the bike. We would like more view of the road ahead.

    Nice bike, i Was going to Buy one last year but ended up going for BMW K1600 Grand America. But it was a really close Disision Both are Fantastic Big Tourers. i may still swop to a GA in the future but honestly ive been Blown away with BMW k1600 GA and very content with her. yet again good vid

    I used to daily an ST1300 Pan European. I don't have it anymore, and miss it. I always wished Honda had updated the model instead of discontinuing it. Now it looks like they have. This evolution of the GoldWing doesn't seem much bigger than my old Pan. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd definitely be looking at one.

    My previous bike was a BMW GSA and now I have the 2018 GW. Hands down the GW is much smoother and more comfortable because of 2 main features. The low center of gravity and the DCT. I agree it is massive and significantly heavier than the GSA but those 2 features makes the GW easier to ride especially in the city. Both are amazing bikes. The GW maintenance schedule and costs are 1/2 that if the GSA. Android Auto is now released and working well on the GW and ACP still works well. Wish the GW had a touch screen.

    Great review - thanks. Apart from purchase price the cost of maintaining/servicing/repairing might need to be considered too. I have a 2015 Valkyrie which is essentially a naked version of this bike. Virtually no electronics other than ABS....just how I like it :)

    The goldwing was introduced in 1975 gl1000 and I happen to have a sulfer yellow 1976 gl1000 and love riding it it might have even been 74 oh I think you like that bike

    I daily ride my 02 goldwing and its tiring making stops and turns in crowded Los Angeles, but its still the greatest bike ive ever ridden.
