      True,. However I found myself slacked jawed when the mom said "We had them for awhile". That is something said when you gift a child with a PS4 or XBOX. not with something that could possibly change an aspect in ones life.

      I Need The Krup
      Pretty sure the woman in the video was NOT his mom, based on what he says. And meeting in a parking lot, maybe he left his mom’s place to meet up with his dad. Divorced parents, sounds like. But a very, very cool handling of his new color vision. 😎

    • @ineedthekrup5333
      @ineedthekrup5333 Před 5 lety +4

      I was merely remarking on the statement that was made in the video. I was not going that deep to analyze why they were in a parking lot and assume that it was divorce meet up site. That would not even be a blip on my radar.

Every other video I've seen has people demanding the glasses recipient to, "Look at this" and "Look at that" before the person seeing color for the first time in their lives has any time to adjust and simply soak in the beauty of color. Bravo to this mom and dad!

      In a certain way I can understand how he felt...only in reverse. I recently had something happen to my eyesight out of now where. Was working on the computer. Had a flash I thought was the monitor. And suddenly noticed not only didn't things look in 3 dimensions anymore but flat like looking at a photograph. But I couldn't see bright color anymore. Everything turned dull. Which they just did an MRI on me, and the doctor is now sending me to a neurologist to try yo find out what happened. Never take your eyesight for granted.

We both happen to work at Starbucks he works at a Starbucks just down the road from where I live. I saw purple for the first time. It was amazing. The biggest things I want to see are a sunrise and sunset. I have never seen the full beauty of either. I have never seen the full beauty of the fall colours North East Tennessee. Your video is very inspiring and happy.

    • @GoMetricToday
      @GoMetricToday Před 7 lety +18

      I never had anyone correct me as an adult about certain colours. Honestly I don't usually talk much about the colours of things. It turns out that my family knew about my colourblindness as a child but never told me. Since my grandfather and father were colourblind, they didn't want me to go through the same teasing and hassle they did. My family was going to tell me when I got older, but life got in the way and they forgot. I didn't start to realise there was something wrong until a friend and I got into and argument of the colour of a Mary Kay car. It looked white to me and she was telling me it was pink. She accused me of being colourblind. I was actually kind of upset by that and went to my eye doctor and was tested. As it turns out, I am colourblind and I have Tritanopia.

    • @GoMetricToday
      @GoMetricToday Před 7 lety +12

      I often wish I was told as a child instead of my family keeping from me. They had to go to great lengths to make sure my life was a normal as possible. My stepmother told me that I was indeed tested when I was 10, but my father didn't want me told until I got older because he didn't want me to feel like I was different and get ridiculed like he was. My grandmother told me that my father and grandfather both had tritanopia and my father was terribly ridiculed by his teachers and peers. Unfortunately I was never told because life got in the way. I am glad that I know now, but it has caused me to question all of my colour choices that I have made.

    I am not crying. No I am not. Ok, I am. This is a wonderful invention and thank you for posting this video!! Such a deal at about $350 for adults and about $270 for kids. Just about the same price that I pay for my regular bifocals! I imagine he will pace himself with the glasses as he gets his composure and gets used to seeing color. Beautiful video!

    I can’t stop crying... such an unselfish, parental loving gift of COLOR! We parents will do anything to help our kids until our last breath. I kept thinking, you might have considered having him see first in a florist shop! After calmed down from the sensory overload, then take him outside to the winter gloom or brown grass, stick trees, and the glory of how beautiful the work of masons is. No judging mom and dad... you way was the right way from your heart. God bless each of you! I can not imagine not seeing color. Though it is what it is when we are born! Hugs from KY

    I didn't know this, but a customer where I work, who knows that I'm colourblind, told me of a setting in iOS that corrects the colours for colourblindness. It is under Settings, General, Accessibility, Display Accommodations, Colour Filters. I went in and set mine for Tritanopia and it immediately saturated the colours in a way that allows my eyes to see it as normal. There were icons on my phone that I couldn't see before. It makes my phone look funny to other people, but at least I can see it.

    This is my favourite enchroma video. The family is not being accidentally pushy and overexcited. His reactions and gratitude just melt your heart. Beautiful editing of a moment this family will treasure. The joy of colour is something I've never taken for granted. I've always been the sort of guy to stop and look at flowers and admire their overall beauty. I'm a "smell the roses" kind of a guy. I'll do it in front of anyone and I often get looks which makes me smile. This makes me want to be a dad so much, but it also makes me wish I grew up in a safe environment.

    Garrett, I pray that we, those who have had the ability to see the colors you couldn't before the glasses, are as precious as you were. What a gift you are to God and to those those of us who have taken those beautiful colors for granted.
