Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. Dubbed the "King of Pop", he is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century. Over a four-decade career, his contributions to music, dance and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture. Jackson influenced artists across a variety of musical styles, and through visual presentation. He popularized complicated dance moves such as the moonwalk, to which he gave the name, and the robot. Jackson is the most awarded music artist in history.
The eighth child of the Jackson family, Jackson made his professional debut in 1964 with his elder brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon as a member of the Jackson 5. Jackson began his solo career in 1971 while at Motown Records, and became a solo star with his 1979 album Off the Wall. His music videos, including those for "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and "Thriller" from his 1982 album Thriller, are credited with breaking racial barriers and transforming the medium into an artform and promotional tool. He helped propel the success of MTV and continued to innovate with videos on the albums Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (1995). Thriller became the best-selling album of all time, while Bad was the first album to produce five US Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles with "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man in the Mirror", and "Dirty Diana".
From the late 1980s, Jackson became a figure of controversy and speculation due to his changing appearance, relationships, behavior and lifestyle. In 1993, he was accused of sexually abusing the child of a family friend. The lawsuit was settled out of civil court, and Jackson was not indicted due to lack of evidence. In 2005, he was tried and acquitted of further child sexual abuse allegations and several other charges. In 2009, while preparing for a series of comeback concerts, This Is It, Jackson died from an overdose of propofol administered by his personal physician, Conrad Murray, who was subsequently convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Jackson is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with estimated sales of over 400 million records worldwide.[nb 1] He had 13 Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era, and was the first artist to have a top-ten single in the Billboard Hot 100 in five different decades. His honors include 15 Grammy Awards, a Juno Award, six Brit Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and 39 Guinness World Records, including the "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time". Jackson's inductions include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Dance Hall of Fame (the only recording artist to be inducted), the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame. In 2016, his estate earned $825 million, the highest yearly amount for a celebrity ever recorded by Forbes.
On June 25, 2009, less than three weeks before the first This Is It show was due to begin in London, with all concerts sold out, Jackson died from cardiac arrest. Conrad Murray, his personal physician, had given Jackson various medications to help him sleep at his rented mansion in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles.
Jackson's memorial was held on July 7, 2009, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, preceded by a private family service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park's Hall of Liberty. Over 1.6 million fans applied for tickets to the memorial; the 8,750 recipients were drawn at random, and each received two tickets. The memorial service was one of the most watched events in streaming history, with an estimated US audience of 31.1 million and a worldwide audience of an estimated 2.5 to 3 billion.
Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Hudson and Shaheen Jafargholi performed at the memorial, and Smokey Robinson and Queen Latifah gave eulogies. Al Sharpton received a standing ovation with cheers when he told Jackson's children: "Wasn't nothing strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with. But he dealt with it anyway." Jackson's 11-year-old daughter Paris Katherine, speaking publicly for the first time, wept as she addressed the crowd. The Rev. Lucious Smith provided a closing prayer. Jackson's body was entombed on September 3, 2009, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. - Zábava

I was actually a friend of Michaels for many years I'm a choreographer I miss him dearly he was the most amazing kind hearted man I knew and the talent I was honoured to call him a friend I remember going to the funeral and the words "I love you sugar " ringing in my ears I miss him with every beat of my heart 💖

According to another report, Michael was cremated by request of his Mother. She really believed someone would try and dig up, or destroy his body. The casket they put in was empty. It is said, his ashes were spread in the Neverland Property , where he always wanted to be

That's not entirely true. Arthur Dark from the channel Hollywood Graveyard Got special permission from the Jackson family by reaching out to Forrest Lawn to view his grave for a segment on his program. He was only there for about 5 minutes to get some accurate screenshots of his gravesite
That's how famous Michael was. In a place filled to the brim with huge, mega celebrities from all periods of Hollywood, Michael was so famous and sought after they had to block off his grave. Probably one of the most famous people in the world.

Pere La Chaise Cemetery outside Paris has spent a fortune over the decades since Jim Morrison was buried there. On Chopin’s Tomb and many other sacred tombs are spray painted arrows with the words “to Jim” desecrating them. Can you imagine the damage Michael’s fans would do if they could get it? Imagine each fan taking one leaf from a plant, or a sprig of a shrub. The place would be decimated.
I hope he really is at peace! I miss him! Once a week I do a MJ listening day!
We all miss him. I listen to him every day, but a weekly day is also a lovely idea. Anything that keeps his memory alive.
This is really cool, I’m a Detroit guy so MJ has a huge part over here and is honored in not only Hitsville but as well as Woodlawn cemetery and I’m sure there is plenty other memorial sights for MJ here in Detroit. He is never forgotten.

Im glad they put him where they did, because even as a lifelong fan myself, I wouldn't want to disturb his Peace. This world caused him so much pain and now he gets to truly rest without being bothered and I love that for him.

The great mausoleum is a gorgeous place. I was lucky enough to go in there once in the 90's. I wanted to see Clark Gable's grave. It is so peaceful!

That’s nice to hear. I found the music a bit disturbing, and all of those tombs on all sides, I found it quite creepy, to be honest. But the atmosphere probably feels different when you walk through there yourself. My own family are all buried in a forest cemetery with beautiful old trees that are hundreds of years old, now that is what I call a peaceful place with birds’s songs as music all day long. But I know Michael’s family had to make sure his final resting place would be safe and guarded, so it is understandable why they chose the Mausoleum.

Michael Jackson lived a weird and tragic life, that much one can't deny. But he was a brilliant performer, one of the best of all time even, a true philanthropist who wanted to make the world a better place, and one hell of a musician. We will never have another like him again. Requiescat in Pace Sir Michael, you might be gone but you are certainly not forgotten.

They cover his tomb purely for Safety and privacy the family where always private they were alovely family who I still talk to now but purely for privacy plus as protection for the stone and yes Michael always said to me he wanted his fans to be near him but Katherine told me why she Did it and understand x

Finally made it inside bro ! Nice 👍🏼 it’s been covered now for a few years . People were getting in and going into the gate where mjs sarcophagus is and they would get caught be security hugging the tomb, posing in front of it for photos, and doing other things that they weren’t supposed to be doing so forest lawn decided to permanently place that covering that’s what I was told by a guard .
Wow, that’s so sad. It was beautiful before but the ugly barrier now is terrible. People should just respect the family’s wishes and leave him alone. The sun shining through the stained glass was amazing but now it’s hidden and once again he’s alone and separated from the rest.

Thank you Scott for taking the time to do what you could. It's still hard to believe he is gone. It's strange, I sort of see the need for the security; the possibility of grave robbing for souvenirs, vandalism, even those who might try and steal his remains, but indeed, I also think there were better ways to handle this in such an already secure area; the tightened grip of protecting his remains only gives the impression further still that even in death, his family have such a grip on him to his fans.

I find it really sad they placed the curtain in front of his area. They used to have it on display but with guards next to it. Even in his passing we fans are still so far apart from him. I’m thankful to have the chance to see it through this video, I’m very surprised that you were able to get right into those chambers.

I was through Forest Lawn Glendale several years ago during a family Christmas getaway. (silly tourists) Holly Terrace was pointed out to us by another visitor, but yeah..... we weren't getting in there. Your videos are a pleasure to watch. Thank you Mr Scott! If you're ever through St. Louis, try to find Rush Limbaugh's resting place. If that's even possible.

I don’t understand why they have to cover this tomb. He would’ve wanted fans to pay their respects. He’s dead, years from now his family will regret not allowing fans to say goodbye. You can visit Elvis, Sinatra, many other equally famous people. This is the height of conceit on behalf of his family.

@@alexd2927 he was buried in a mausoleum at first there are videos by others on here about the move and why maybe scott will do it one day but in anycase in short some fans tried breaking into his crypt so his father had him and his wife elvis's mother moved to grace land where he could be protected from graverobbers which gave birth to the mediation garden he is placed today

The family didn’t put him in the grave because people will rob his grave. He was a beautiful soul with a big heart inside and out.

This whole "show" they put on by hiding his grave, limiting access and all seems very suspicious to me. You can visit literally any other celeb's grave so easily to pay respects. Something is off about this for sure.
