  • If your auto insurance went up in the last year or two, you're far from alone. A newly published report from Bankrate found that Florida was the second most expensive state for car insurance, and Tampa was the third most expensive major city.

This doesn't surprise me. I've lived here all my life. Everyone that lives down here is from up north. They crowded this place, they want to party and the first thing when money gets tight is they don't pay their auto insurance. Guess who picks up the slack?

How can a reporter say that the cost of repairing a car is why insurance is high because that’s a phenomena that occurs everywhere and doesn’t explain why Florida has such high car insurance?

Maybe because it might actually be the problem?

Body shops are charging double to fix damage. Everything is going up!! On average we pay 75 more every 6 months

When I came here in 1990, when it was a blue state, auto insurance was very, very, very very cheap compared to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York now Florida is higher than those states. Interesting

You describe the state as if it was never conservative. In 1990 Bob Martinez was a southern style Democrat. - remember, he signed Ted Bundys death warrant. It was never a typical Democrat state and is so expensive now because you and 10 million of your out-of-state friends moved in here over the past 34 years and caused some of this inflation. (Basic economics 101 more people + same amount of goods = inflation ) In addition, part of the reason we have such high car insurance bills is in large part due to so many uninsured drivers. And let's face it Florida drivers stink because most everyone in this state has lived here a total of about 5 minutes.

    Aahhhhh.
    Insurance prices.
I pay half the value of my car in insurance every year. Do rich people pay 500k yearly for a car valued at one million?
How about a home with a value above 100 million? Do they pay the appropriate amount of insurance based on repair costs?
Many many questions with the answer "no"

Nonsense! Criminal drivers are to blame. Florida under educates its kids and fosters cultural stagnation. This is conservative culture.

If you're car is more than 7yrs old you shouldn't be paying for full coverage insurance. Because you are wasting your money.

Once again paying customers are covering non paying customers. Whatever the reason- DeSantis needs to get back to governing. Great job opening up and salvaging the economy during Covid but now it’s crashing and burning

Great job during Covid? Don't wear masks? You know how long that extended Covid not to mention how many idiot Trumpers came down with it because they didn't wear masks. Talk to any ER nurse around here bout Covid and Trumpers they complained the most in the waiting room then argued with the doctors when told they have covid. What morons.
