    Bought this over a year ago and love it. I played with the return spring sizes and wound up using the recommended size anyway.
    I calibrate mine so that you have to stand on the brakes to go to 100%. I haven't tried them, but I can't see true hydraulic or load cell systems offering anything more.
    I have since added a bass shaker type puck to the back of the pedal. I really doubt when set up properly even that ridiculously expensive active pedal will offer that much more for the price.
    I think it is worth the money.

I would suggest getting the independent cable directly connected to your pc for those still using the g29 wheel base. The Logitech software makes a funky brake curve. I've seen load-cell based pedal mods for this pedal-set before, but they've tended to have no pedal movement whatsoever. Which is a selling point for "realism." I've heard this may be accurate for F1 cars, but most sim racing isn't F1. And last I checked, the brake pedal in my cars moves. So I feel that this "realism" mod is very niche. This mod looks way more promising as it does have pedal movement and even better it's adjustable. Not every car has the same brake feel (my two cars are polar opposites when it comes to responsiveness/pedal travel for example) so being able to dial it in for personal preference sounds awesome!

  • @RetroGenetic
    @RetroGenetic Před 9 měsíci +1

    For me, I've had the issue with having hard time having a nice place to race in and pretty much gave up on sim racing after about a year with some random driving around, as I ran out of space for VR and sold it off. Now as I am grabbing a new VR HMD and getting something to bolt down the wheel and pedals as well (thanks tax returns).
    I started to gobble together a nice "ghetto rig", first step was to find a way to clamp my wheel (g920) on to my desk somehow as it is too thick for the clamps... And there was a go board which I don't use and couple clamps meant to keep wood stuck together to clamp that on to my desk instead. So next step was to grab flatmate's old chair which does not have wheels under it, and so I got ok starting point again.
    Now then, there was still some minor sliding issues, so next step was to put yoga mat under them, so no more sliding around, but guess what... It is REALLY hard to control braking if you are sitting your thighs flush on the seat (if you've ever wondered why racing seats are shaped like those are), so I got a bit creative and have now a towel at the edge of the chair, and blanket over it, this gave me a lot more confidence in braking, but the angle was a bit awkward and the last bit to finish current thing off with was Logitech G413 keyboard box under the edge to change the angle a bit...
    And all of this did allow me to trail brake bit better to the corner.. So braking consistency is the current biggest issue, so I'd say this will be one more thing to add on the shopping list.

    Great video, many thanks for sharing it. I'm interested in this upgrade but I have a concern - I have chronic fatigue syndrome and running a hard brake just won't work for me, so I'm after something that feels like a load cell while not requiring a great deal of pressure, while perhaps relying on a slightly increased amount of movement as a compensation. I could obviously try the weakest spring, but I've heard that the movement range is extremely small, just a few mm perhaps, so I was wondering if there was an option to allow a bigger range of motion, so it would be like part load cell part potentiometer?

    To be fair the Truebrake is good, I owned the V1 which had 38kg spring as standard I think, it was great and slashed my lap times but it only lasted 2 yrs or so of regular racing before the potentiometer starting playing up and flickering so I have now swapped to the MVH load cell which is also good, I can’t decide which is better, I believe the MVH load cell will have more longevity than the Truebrake and is adjustable. you can get contact cleaner with a small amount of appropriate lubricant mixed in from Element 14 or RS components. It will cost a bit more, a d is the right stuff to use on potentiometers. But it may not always work, your potentiometer might have a worn track rather than just be dirty. Also check the markings on the part, you may be able to swap it with the clutch potentiometer.

    Hey Danny, I liked ur video on Logitech upgrade with the true brake. How ever,, I used ur hard spring n it wasn't to my liking. Way to stiff for me, so going to use a lower spring level. But I was curious as to what u would use, with what spacer with what spring? Also, you talked about the G cable and the other one, to connect directly to to a laptop, or PC? What does that do?

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I'd say that if you liked the amount of initial travel you had, but didn't like the 'hardness' of the second stage then you should go down to the soft or semisoft spring and see what you think.
      The Logitech G adapter is logitech's official adapter that allows you to plug Logitech pedals directly into your PC, bypassing the steering wheel base which is normally required for pedals to work. There is also a Leo Bodnar cable which AXC Sim also seems to sell, which does the same job but is a third party product (still well regarded).
      If you're on console then neither of those are applicable to you, it only applies to PC, you can't 'separate' the hardware on Playstation or Xbox due to the way they work.

    I installed the softest spring and the thickest washer. I'm not doing well at all, losing a second to my best time (on minute lap track) on stock pedals. Complete lack of repeatability. Is this the result of several years on stock pedals?

    • @32adin
      @32adin Před 6 měsíci

      Okay, after ~150 laps in F4 on Summit Point, there is a significant improvement, I equaled my best time and in fact, this mod gives much greater repeatability 😮 (only 2 incidents in that 150 laps) I don't feel confident enough to start the race yet, but I feel it will be fine. I just needed a lot of time to switch to the new pedal. Hundreds of thousands of kilometers on the original G29 pedals have left a habit.

    • @dannyleeracing

      You'll get used to it, it does initially feel like a step backwards for a couple days until you form the muscle memory in your leg and get used to using force, but then it's full steam ahead to absolutely better laptimes and race pace. Same with all load cells or pressure-based sim brake pedals, and you're not alone in this, it's a very common thought!

    • @tstegink8084
      @tstegink8084 Před 7 měsíci +1

      I've had both in the past. Going from 3Drap to the Truebrake.
      Truebrake is in another world.
      Since the 3Drap is just a bumper. It won't give the same confidence and consistency.
      Also, the 3Drap mod is hard to configure on some games on consoles, like ACC, which doesn't allow brake dead-zones.
