As a aew fan sometimes i ask myself why am i watching this,i enjoy it sometimes but other times i sick of the random title matches with no story, and im sick of the last minute booking

Honestly the general hypocrite nature of AEW as a whole and most of its talent should be put on blast most. But don't forget to buy your WOO energy drink on the way to your hotel with 18-28 year old women after signing a known pervert after throwing shade at Vince for being a pervert. WWE is he bad company run by a creepy billionaire, after all. AEW is the company run by the supposedly very nice but very autistic son of a multi-billionaire that wasn't just going to hire old dudes from the WWE but has Sting, Big Show, Edge, Ric Flair, and Mark Henry on 7 figure multi-year deals despite rarely featuring half of them on TV.
I agree and disagree with some of these. But there is one major thing that he left out… PPV’s are WAY TOO LONG. Tony Khan needs to understand not everyone has to be on PPV save some matches for Dynamite and Collision, PPV’s should be 3 - 4hrs they should be going off air at midnight

The honeymoon stage of AEW is over. They are signing more older wrestlers while WWE is signing young and potential wrestlers. AEW was the alternative when Vince was messing up in WWE, now since Triple h is behind creative WWE is becoming better. I want WWE and AEW to succeed but Tony Khan needs to get his act together.
Yup, they just brought Kairi back and they’re highly interested in Giulia who is also young and talented, and I don’t really think he will end up in WWE Ospreay is still in his 30s so he’s in his wrestling prime. They definitely want the younger talent there

AEW is a wrestling show made for wrestling marks…not a casual fan base. Them having low ratings and empty arenas isn’t surprising when you cater to a niche audience
It's like the FGC of Wrestling if they only hosted Guilty Gear KOF and UMVC3 with one stage and only 15 characters being used for 3 hours straight.

Just like back in October 2021 (I think, not sure) where Roman had an interview where he said that AEW's hardcore fan base creates a ceiling and a built in ground to that viewership. I have been thinking about it and just after a few years here it is, the limited audience and attendance has begun.

The talent is there in AEW, but outside of MJF and Toni Storm, the booking is extremely erratic or just plain bad in some cases.
That's the thing with power house hobbs "the world's best booker" 4 times (according to dave meltzer) has allowed hobbs to cool off after the fans have been fully willing to accept him as a main player, multiple times might I add. People wanted him to do well when he turned on starks and they let that go, people wanted him to get over again wardlow/joe but Tony was stubborn and stuck with flop mcgee wardlow. Hobbs isn't the only person either there have been other talent too that were hot but instead of being this amazing booker he just left them to loose all steam.
I guarantee you that Jade is getting mad training in at the PC and it’s smart they keep showing her on tv as a star so she stays fresh in everyone’s minds while she trains and gets used to the WWE style of wrestling

#1 problem is that Tony Khan is just a fan of pro wrestling. He doesnt have the mindset to run a wrestling company.

This video basically nailed a majority of problems with AEW. Inconsistent booking is also another major issue with start and stop stories (Keith Lee & Swerve for example).
The crazy part about Jade is, at least from what I’ve read, TK gave her MORE money than what she wanted, she just knew creative was trash

The issue with AEW is they get you hooked on ONE storyline to which they cease to carry its momentum few weeks after, which makes fans trust their product less than everytime

I don't agree with releasing Jungle Boy. That would be begging for a lawsuit given all accounts have Punk starting the physical confrontation.
The Elite one, that's more murky. But given he didn't release Punk in that situation either, it would seem ridiculous to release them as well. The fact is, one person was a common denominator in both situations, and in at least one instance certainly started the physical fight, and it would seem, more than likely threw the first punch in the first incident. When that's the case, basic conflict resolution is you remove the common denominator.
AEW is and forever will be a 'Flash-in-the-Pan' promotion.
AEW will never reach heights of previous companies because its all sizzle no steak, they have the best athletes and no stories being told over extended time periods, feuds come and go like the tide, heels and faces are switched at the drop of a hat.
Haven't seen Jade yet because they are teaching her how to wrestle 😂

With Jade I think she just wanted to go to WWE at that point. Money isn’t an issue for her, so that means it was the booking and presentation. Yah she had a win streak, but how many storylines was she involved in? How many great programs? She looks like a star but AEW just hasn’t figured out how to present their stars properly. In other words, I wouldn’t put the blame on them not paying her enough, but on them not knowing how to book their women’s division.
That's one of the main reasons I stopped watching when I finally accepted TK doent give a shit about his women's division.
She saw that she had no future in AEW. What was there to do? Go on another winning streak? Make an appearance at some Jaguars or Fulham games?

The difference is that Tony Khan doesn't like forcing wrestlers to do something they don't want to do. It's a more collaborative process in AEW, whereas in WWE the wrestlers do as they are told. Becky and Charlotte both thought the belt swap story was stupid, but they went ahead with it because they knew they'd risk losing their jobs if they didn't.

A major promotion should be selling out venues that have a capacity of 15K-20K. They didn’t even sellout a smaller venue in Garland, TX. that seats 8,600 and can expand to 10K

I've always said that Tony Khan doesn't know how to run a wrestling company, NOW EVERYONE ELSE is starting to see that for themselves. Most of the business decisions TK has made looks like he made them JUST TO STICK IT to WWE.

I agree with all 99 as well; I would also add Excalibur needs to remove his mask to make commentary seem more legitimate, too many 6 man tag matches and the tbs and tnt titles need to be named the women and mens tv title.
The crazy part is TNA is getting better and might be looking to overtake AEW as the second largest company again
WCW and TNA both were too worried about being better than WWE and not just being good on their own. It’s like how you never see McDonald’s attacking Burger King. They’re McDonald’s, you’re never going to defeat them and it’s pointless to try. Just be good at your own thing.

Even though I don’t watch aew I just watch clips. I wish them the best because when there’s competition and alternatives it keeps the industry popping and the fans win. That’s why I believe comic book movies are taking a dip because DC couldn’t get it together and make an alternative. Marvel took the lead then got lazy and the product dipped.

I'm a day one AEW fan. I've seen them live 5 times, I've bought every PPV, I own multiple tee shirts and action figures. Hell, I even bought Fight Forever. But even I can't disagree with 90% of this list or more. It's a shame. I hope they can bounce back. I really do. But there's A LOT of problems currently.

I honestly feel, in this date in time there is nothing wrestling fans can all 100% agree on collectively. As much as WWE and even AEW are either good or bad shows, the fan base is what is really killing everything. Nothing is ever good enough.
You need a creative team, or you should get rid of the creative team.

I’m at 27 (No Streaming Service), but I want to add something about the network. TBS/TNT also holds MLB, NBA, March Madness, and Collision on Saturdays vs WWE PLE, College Football, and UFC PPVs will crush their ratings.
Too many factions in AEW is a negative but in WWE it’s the best thing to happen in the past year. it all comes down to booking.

One thing, one proper iron clad decision that encapsulates most of these issues would help end the drama....if Tony grew a backbone, acted like an owner instead of a mark fanboy tons of these problems could start resolving. Get a grip on your talent/backstage culture, hire a real creative/directing team, discipline/reward whomever as necessary without prejudice or feeling it hurts your own popularity, enough with spot wrestling and superkick orgies and pleeeeeaaaassse give the fans continuity in storytelling that makes sense. Grow a set Tiny for fucks sake.
You nailed it! But, at this point, even if they were able to grab the best versions of Vince Russo, Cornette and Heyman to book their shows, the people who are already watching would love it, but these names are established and are who they are. Omega, Jericho, Joe, Christian, Copeland, Moxley and Danielson aren't gaining any new fans. I'm starting to prefer Impact. Their talent is solid and even though lots of the stories are average or kind of silly, at least they're following through on them.

Kenny and max wasn’t booked to pop a rating, it was literally stated multiple times that it was there for Kenny to try and defend his record as the longest reigning champ, that was the whole point and was mentioned for like a month leading up to the day he was gonna pass it
My issue is with the lack of interesting story lines. That is due to there not really being much of a booking committee. They have an issue with starts and stops. The wrestling style is also too dangerous. Bryan Danielson has been hurt more than not during his run in AEW. CM Punk was hurt more than not in AEW. how can you book a consistent story line if your people are constantly getting hurt. Turn up the story lines and turn down the danger just to pop the half full crowd.
TK don't believe in that. He literally said he wanted to focus on the matches like Nitro. He's idea of a good story is " I want to be the best" BORING CLICHE LAZY
TK has a bunch of children in important position running the company. Mainly the buckaroos are the problem if you ask me. And if he’s having a bunch of these old school wrestlers coming in then they should lean more towards their experience instead of trying to do things their own way because obviously it isn’t working anymore.
Makes a lot of good points and some are subjective (I personally don't mind an occasional Jeff Jarrett appearance on TV, but each to their own). The shows just don't feel fresh anymore and need a massive overhaul across the board (on camera and off).

A lot of great points on the list..the refereeing criticism is spot on! Aubrey Edwards is hands down the worst ref going today..always hamming it up for the camera, the complete opposite of a good ref who you barely notice is there.
They're not even conforming to the WWE way of doing things. They're acting like they're TNA right now, relying on WWE's cast-offs and giving Jeff Jarrett creative control when every time he has had creative control, it has been crap.

I think my biggest problem with AEW is the lack of storylines or long term storylines. I didn't realize how much that bothered me until I started watching it in 2021. It feels like Tony Khan wants AEW to be like the NJPW of america, but even NJPW as subtle as it is have some long term storylines. Having your promotion focused on the in-ring aspect of wrestling doesn't mean not having storylines. If there's nothing to be told then why even have a match in the first place. Now there are some good storylines there, but most of the shows it's just matches to fill air time.
To me AEW always feels like a richboy's toybox.

They should do MORE of what WWE is doing! The honeymoon of AEW being new is over. They're a mess and wouldn't be surprised if in two years (if that), we'll be talking about AEW the same way we do ECW, WCW, and other promotions that aren't in business anymore. I really hope MJF jumps to WWE so his talents will be utilized properly. The lead up to his match against Samoa Joe saw the fans behind him 100%. Now, when him and MJF are in the ring, they chant "Joe! Joe!". There is no way in hell they're going to be able to draw more than the million or so Dynamite viewers they have already. Booking one-off dream matches with zero follow up. And, since those dream matches are one-offs, there's never any stakes involved. Two decorated, acclaimed wrestlers do a bunch of spots. One wins. They shake hands and one or both aren't seen again for... however long. Going back to Joe vs MJF; that should've been a three to four month feud. Nope. One match, over. Then they stroke each other on TV and social media. Now Joe's getting another shot. Best booking for that match is to have Joe go over but that'll never happen. Also, on Joe; what a dumb idea to have him relinquish the ROH TV title was one of the dumbest things to every take place in a ring. He had a match with Keith Lee moments prior. Just drop it to him. Could've elevated someone. Sorry for the long rant. I'm not even gonna start on how they ruined one of the best Texas death matches of all time. Y;know what? F it. This legendary match takes place. Four days later, Adam Page is nowhere to be found and Swerve has a match in a tournament that will award another meaningless title to someone.
Now even Mox doesn't wanna wrestle more in AEW and would rather be in Japan.
