    As of this video, the current software for the VF8 was FRS 9.6.1.13, so many bugs have been fixed according to VinFast. Release 9.6.1.15 is coming very soon and this will offer improvements as well.
    UPDATE 1: Also, when using the build in nav, it does provide charging station availabilty/use and other specs. VinFast is supporting all the Charging Station providers that can give this info in their apps. So if you look for an Ivy Charger in their app, they will show you live status of a station (if in use, etc.). This info is fed into VF navigation and displayed when looking at charging stations. If you look on my video, it did show it for my charge trip, but I said that feature was not supported yet. It is.

      Hey Kenneth, great to see an honest review from Canada! 😀
      "[after an hour or so] it will revert those settings back to default" is only true of the "guest profile", I believe. If you set up multiple profiles, everything is stored. Certainly my wife an I have a bunch of different settings, including quite different home screen layouts, mirrors, some of the ADAS settings/warnings, auto-high-beam, and it recognises / switches them based on whose keyfob was used to unlock the vehicle, or they can be switched with a couple of screen taps and about 3sec delay whilst it moves mirrors etc. I'm not aware of any setting that still reverts.
      I know you can't type unless in "Park", even if you have a passenger to type for you, bit annoying, but you CAN instead ask Alexa to navigate to an address, if you have her set up.
      I remember I was going to lend you my VF8 (eco, in the green), but never happened. Glad you got hold of an official press loaner! 😀

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  Před měsícem +1

      @NoseyNick I had a profile set up for me with an account so I could use the App. Was not in Guest profile mode. So this is not the case where everything is stored. I sat with VinFast engineer after my review to go over the settings that were not saved and most will be addressed in future OTAs. Some like LKA coming on all the time, will continue to be this way, however I asked them to put it default to warning and not taking actions. The nav typing apparently is post 2023 laws which now prohibit this, I was unaware as my 2020 I can type while driving. Alexa would be a good setup to do and this would help for nav use. Yes I was going to reach out to you to meet up to do a review, but then VF called me to be the first for the press fleet. Thanks!

      @kelviskelvis7140 Thanks for watching! Kinda, they are a bit smaller IMO so may be more like compact SUV class. Certainly can lump them in for a comparison. Ford has dropped pricing on Mach E's to be very competitive and I do love them. Equinox is too early to say and pricing is still in a bit of flux until GM actually starts to deliver them in Canada. I have not driven one yet, only sat in car show static displays. Plus for sure Equinox is smaller than VF8.

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  Před měsícem +4

      @minhtunghoang4743 and others: I believe this is just purely a guess/speculation. However for that smaller SUV segment, I would surmise the VF7 to come in around Mid $40K's Canadian, with the top spec being $49,995 MSRP CAD or similar. They won't want to take a bite out of VF8 sales and that starting base is $53,600 CAD. So I can see the VF7 starting at $44995 CAD or something like that. Which for USD, would make it low $40K. Maybe even breaking below that barrier with the base spec.
      I would also guess that the VF6 would need to be sub $40K starting, like $34,995 CAD or similar. To compete they will have to keep pricing around these ranges. IMO. No facts, just my opinions.

      I was doing MUCH worse than that during the hideous -40C ice storm midwinter, but in good weather, but "well over 100kW" does seem to be quite possible especially if you can find the chargers that really are capable of delivering 200/250/300kW. Kenneth's 130-something is pretty good! 😀
      VF8 apparently pre-conditions the battery IFF you use the onboard nav to take you to a charger - not just to the address / vicinity, you have to choose the actual charger off the screen like Kenneth showed, (or the VinFast app), otherwise it can take a few more mins to get to 100kW+

    Nice to see the price of dc charging. Costs the same as gas. My Escape will easily go 350km on $40 of gas on the highway. And only takes 5 min to fill. Charging at home is the only way to go. Plus you are paying $15000 more than a comporsble ICE vehicle.

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  Před 2 dny

      Thanks for the comments. While it is true that Fast Charging can cost as much as gas sometimes (most times it is about half the cost), home charging or cheaper L2 charging saves much more than any gas car can achieve. That $15K you say can easily be saved over 3-5 years in fuel and maintenance costs for EVs vs. ICEVs. You fail to mention the lower op costs of EVs (especially BEVs) that save on average $3k-$4k per year in fuel/maint costs vs. ICEVs.
      So please, if you are going to spout figures, balance it out with looking at all sides of it. The majority of EV owners home charge, about 75% or so. This is huge savings where one's home is their "gas station". You can't do that with petrol. Yes, petrol can take 5 minutes to fill up. But my EV takes 10-15 seconds to charge at home...that is how long it takes me to plug it in and walk away, waking up the next morning with the State of Charge I want. So if you want to compare time wasted in fueling ICEVs vs. BEVs, you will loose again.
      I am not trying to beat up on you, just simply stating that you share all the facts of a point, not just those that make your idea look good. I agree that charging is not perfect, there can be problems with chargers, areas of less infrastructure, temperatures affecting charging flows, etc. However, in the vast majority of cases, EVs work and they work well. I've driven my Telsa Model 3 LR over 85,000km / 53,000mi, and it has cost me a total of $3,500 CAD for "fuel" and maintenance. About 10% of my charging has been done on the road in DCFC stations and I've taken road trips of over 3,000km distances in a trip. Never had a problems. Zero issues. Even taking non-Tesla BEVs (like the Ford F150 Lightning) on a 800km road trip...zero issues charging.
      So my point is in general, EVs work and the infrastructure in most modern areas is good and continues to grow at a fast pace. Of course each person looking at an EV needs to look at their needs, infrastructure around them, etc. in order to make an informed decision.

      Model Y interior feels like a kitchen counter, tablet, wheel, with a bit of a Musky smell. VF8 Italian Pininfarina design feels like a real car - "enough" physical controls, GORGEOUS HUD (no need to look ➡⬇away from the road to see your speed / nav) even in the base (eco) model.
      AWD as standard. Range is somewhere between the base modelY and the LR.
      9.5kW portable/mobile charger included, not extra.
      By the time you have upgraded the Y enough to match the VF8, it costs more.
      Android Auto, Apple Carplay.
      VF8 ADAS beats basic AutoPilot, acording to (ex-)Tesla owners
      The only advantages of the Y are if you want to spend the extra $11k on Full Self Drive, or $4k for the dubious 3rd row of seats, as far as I can tell?

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  Před měsícem

      @NoseyNick The Model Y has much better range and efficiencies, that is the prevailing aspects of this vehicle. Also, native Supercharging is still very valuable, if one does some longer drives and needs this. Yes I know adapters and magic boxes are here and coming, however native still leads in functionality. Like I said, they are really two different BEVs for different needs/wants. As far as VF8 ADAS beating Tesla AP, well that is not the case. Tesla's AP is very very good for what it is, Lane Keeping and Adaptive Cruise Control. Especially the lane keeping, it sees the road in darkness and even when crossing thru large intersections. Tesla's system albeit camera-based now, is still very good. I would like to have my radar back, but alas Tesla is all vision now. So unless you have spent some time behind the wheel of a Tesla, to state that VF8 ADAS beast AP, is not true IMO. I use AP a lot and it works all the time with zero issues. FSD is another thing and I am not a fan of that.

      Hi, I am insulted to be asked that question, as I always put a disclaimer if I am receiving anything from an OEM related to a video! I am never paid anything for any auto reviews. Sometimes, I am invited to attend auto launches and first drive events, in which the OEM will cover journalists transportation, accomodations and meals at the event location. This is standard practice and I am always part of a larger group that gets invited to these kinds of things. If that is the case, I call it out on my videos.
      However, for the vast majority of reviews I do, the fact is that I usually have some related costs, such as 407 fees, charging fees, car washes, etc. that I pay out of my own pocket. So go insult someone else with this kind of crap comment.
