Most of my rarer books were ex library. Once the stickers have been removed and fresh brodart added they look great on the shelf, and that's mostly what I care about 🙂
Yes please, I'd love more videos on book repair. Last year I started learning bookbinding. This year I want to start learning book repair.
I somehow ended up with a first edition of The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall for about $5 in a second hand bookstore. Whoever priced it... I don't think they realised what it was.
You just got a new subscriber. Your channel is truly a gem. I definitely have a large book collection, but none of them are valuable per se and I find the concept of collecting fascinating!
Thanks for the vid. 🌻
This is a beautiful series :)
All the first editions I have are contemporary books. As an enthusiast book binder, something I'm looking forward to do is that if there's a classic book I want, I want to recreate it. Make my own version of it, my own printing one could say.
Adam Savage opened my mind to that, to not be bothered to look for the original (sometimes endlessly) when you can actually make it.
Yay! I basically did -and do- by instinct everything you suggest for collecting. I now feel like a pro. Back to watching! Series on restoration are a must see after this one
Dunno why it cancelled the “and do” bit. 😅
This is the first of your video’s that I have seen - Thanks for this introduction - well done. And it was a fun to see your affection for Margaret Atwood. I also collect editions of Handmaid’s - I wrote and produced the tv version of the Handmaid’s Tale, and I’m writing the series based on the testaments as well. Cheers. Bruce Miller
Oh wow! My husband and I are huge fans of the show! Thanks for watching. I got myself a copy of Apologia Pro Vita Sua and one of these days I want to hollow it out and write out all of Lydia's notes to hide inside to go with my collection.
Really informative - thank you so much! You've been an inspiration. When I post my own video on my new library, I will be mentioning and linking your channel. I have learned so much from you and appreciate all the time and effort you put into your content. All the best.
That’s very kind of you. Thank you!
I'm enjoying this series. Thanks!
Exceptional video as always.
Another books series you should look into for your bookish books is the magic treehouse. It’s one of those children’s series with tons of little books but I loved it so much and It has heavenly influenced my taste in books.
So main characters are these siblings that go into this magic treehouse library and then they look at the book they are reading and say I wish to go there and they end up on an adventure around the world in any point in history. Usually they are sent on quests by Morgan la fey of Merlin in the Merlin mission books which are longer. I wouldn’t buy the books all at once if you don’t know if you want them just start with the first four. The books usually are in sets of four for their quests.
I believe I see Gabaldon over your right shoulder; thus Diana.
If you were to purchase just one book of poetry what would it be? It's difficult to decide between Byron, Shakespeare, Poe, and Ovid among others as they all are amazing poets. I'm hoping to begin a small library so I've been watching a lot of book content lately for inspiration. Keep up the good work miss.
Thanks for watching! I’m not the right person to ask regarding poetry as I’m not very well versed if I’m honest. I do read poetry, but not enough to have a favourite. Of the ones you listed, probably Poe. I often like darker, stranger themes.
@@SquirrellyNerdyJess I enjoyed writing poetry while in school and it got over with many of my friends so I can definitely agree that Poe was an influence. The movies with Vincent Price are also amazing. Thanks for your input. It's been rough at times so been looking for a nice escape and so far books seem like a solid option.
