  • The Mets HARSH Reality for Mark Vientos
J.D. Martinez is a great add. But it's still a really tough pill to swallow for the 24 year old Mark Vientos that makes us question his long term outlook in the organization.

A couple of things. I saw a video today of WFAN interviewing Keith Hernandez. He said that it took him 3 tries to stick at the majors and produce with the Cardinals. The Mets said they were committed to Vientos and Baty who produced very similar numbers this spring, and only one made the team. I think the team had Lindor work with these guys in the offseason in hopes one got hit and they could trade one (probably Vientos). I heard a Vientos interview early in Spring and he said his main focus was to do what he does best: to be a homerun hitter. Well, he hut 5 dingers this spring (probably lead the team) but I think there is a disconnect. The team seems to want multidimensional scrappy players that are good fielders, run, hit to all fields, etc. You can see it in the draft pick types. They didn't care about tge HR. They wanted defence, and battibg average and SBs I think (Martinez is not just a HR hitter, he has good average and on base %). This is probably why Alonso has no extension. Vientos will probably be like so many pkayers like Justin Turner who were not given a chance and succeed elsewhere. OK, rant over

Vientos is not a platoon player. He needs to play everyday to succeed. We need to trade him. For his sake and for ours. LGM!!!!
