This has been the best, honest commentary on Brett Baty I've seen since he's been around! You guys discussed many of the obvious points & flaws he still possesses. His biggest flaw is that the moment he goes into a hitting slump, he cannot maintain his value thru defense because he's already a substandard fielder. I'm certainly glad he's working hard at becoming better but we shall see. Unfortunately, it's clear Mets administrators are trying really hard in the background to push an agenda into making him the team "poster boy"... aka David Wright... and a David Wright he is not, and never will be! In addition to receiving extended opportunities to play, he's been the lucky recipient of an injury misfortune to Mauricio who is a much better athlete than Batty and the one person who would force the team to abandon their current experiment! I will always want to see a Mets player succeed but I don't want the Mets media trying to sell me a bag of potatoes when I know what I'm seeing on the field and you guys set it well.... Regardless..
