Believe it or not I got new clipless pedals today. The store did not properly secure my crank 6.5 miles in my entire left crank fell off and was hanging from my brand new pedals and shoes. My road tools do not contain a 10mm so I had to call my wife for a pickup. Thanks to your video my left crank is back on. I guess we all need adversity to learn. My second day ever on a rental road bike I picked up a piece of glass and got a flat. Luckily I had a spare tube and field swapped the tube. Fun times.
My new Specialized Diverge came with one of these. I had never seen one before, and when I researched what it was, I was like "YEAH!!". Excellent system.
Thanks to your video I fixed my creaking and clicking by re greasing. I had to whack the end of the spindle quite hard to get it out. I used a socket extension with a socket on the end of it to get it out of the drive side of the bb. Thanks a lot!
Thanks so much for this video.it helped me fixing a clicking noise I had in the crank. All what i needed to do is to take the non drive crank off and fit it back properly. Noise disappeared. So happy it is fixed.
I am dissembling an FSA Comet crankset with similar design, and I have removed the self extracting bolt from the drive side. But I cannot remove the crank arm. Hitting it pretty hard with rubber hummer, and it doesn't move at all. Is there any way to safely remove it? I'm affraid I might damage my carbon frame.
Is the crank flush to the BB or is there a gap? Is the spindle exposed? I’m asking for a friend. His set-up has 5mm of the spindle exposed on both sides!!! Bizarre.
when i tighten my fsa crank it is too tight and the bearing turns too stiff. (38nm) so I put loctite on the bolt and did not tighten any tighter than 20nm, so the bearing turns nicely and I hope it doesn't run loose
do these cranks usually have play with wavy washer? i can press the wavy washer side crank arm in a few mm's it doesnt feel loose or sloppy but theres movement. also when i spin the crank it clicks but it still spins nice and freely, any thoughts?
i have a fsa comet modular crank, there the opening is on the drivechain side. But there is no allen insert, it is more like a star shape, do you know what tool do i need for that?
This helpful me to know about the outer retainer ring system, so many thanks to tell me which side may remove it, So I hope the ring will help to against a non-drive side gone out, but it's not. Just only tighten can not lock a non-drive as well :'( That is why a Shimano crankset lock system are still the best for me.

Hi there, got a question. Everything with the removal worked perfectly but when reassembling everything there suddenly is Space between the crank arms even with all spacers and washer . the nut is just tightened but theres Space. Dont get it..
You didn't grease the actual ball bearings in this video. You only greased the bearing covers, if you were regreasing the actual bearing you need to remove the bearing covers and get grease on the actual balls within the bearing.
@@dominicbritt There's no such thing as a fully sealed bearing. It's just a wiper seal sandwiched over the races. Know what you're talking about before trying to give technical knowledge.
Hello Dany! I need your help and input. I was able to remove the left crank, but the spindle seems to be stuck. I've struck it with a rubber mallet and it won't budge. I'm afraid I might damage my frame if I hammer it harder. Do you have any suggestions on how to get the spindle out? Thanks!
Great video sir, problem for me is that my retainer ring when it reaches maximum pressure from the self extractor bolt, the retainer ring comes out before the crank arm will release!

Who carries a 10! No one expects their cranks to fall off! Sorry that happened.

This worked for 2019 FSA SLK Light. Thanks for posting this video!
The 10 mm tightens to the right and the torque value is printed on the nut.
Thank you !! I had never seen this system before and wondered why it was so hard to unscrew the crank bolt. Now I know ! Extremely helpful !!!!!

How do you remove the crank if you've lost the retaining cap?
Hi there, got a question. Everything with the removal worked perfectly but when reassembling everything there suddenly is Space between the crank arms even with all spacers and washer . the nut is just tightened but theres Space. Dont get it..

What model of the crank is it and what bottom bracket do you have there?
I have the same as the one on your video: a BB30 and an FSA Gossamer. :)
Torque??? Ok on Nut 36-41Nm

my retaining ring broke off completely
you don't use grease on bolts you're not supposed to ever loosen
What kind of grease did you use?
