    Great job expressing concern about properly suspending the vehicle, having a solid foundation for the jack to sit on and the importance of a secondary safety jack. I hate having to get under it im claustrophobic and constantly checking the supports. If it falls on you that's the end of the game and it's happened to a lot of people. Just a horrible thing for the victim and anyone that becomes involved.

    Man. I wasn't playing around when I did both cats. I soaked all bolts with WD40 for 10 minutes and broke everything loose with a hand ratchet. I also took tire plastic shield and heat shield off to make access so easy.

    Does there have to be a problem causing the cat to fail? Mines the original one 15 years old. They can just fail over time right? P0430. This is the first mil light i seen on my 06 pathfinder ever. We keep up with oil and plugs and everything. Still original coils 😂

    I have 130 miles on the odometer now. Should I wait when the catalytic converter breaks down or is it better to prepare for a replacement?
    Is there any chance it will last even longer?

    I changed all 4 cats on my 07 Xterra yesterday and it actually went pretty smooth but I had to cut out the heat shield on the passenger side to get the the cat bolt on top so now I don’t have a heat shield on the passenger side. How big of a problem is that? I can wrap possibly affected parts with aluminum tape but I’m not sure what parts are at risk. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks for the video.

    How long would it actually take you to change that coverter , trying to get a sense for long it takes so when I go to the shop or not , they don't try to make it seem like it takes hours n hours to do

    • @ItchyKneeSon
      @ItchyKneeSon Před rokem

      A proper shop with tools and parts available might take a few hours. I did both of mine in the driveway on a 200k+ mi. Pathfinder covered in rust and it took a while. Removing fender liners helps immensely.

    • @ItchyKneeSon

      I also got cheap new cats from Rock Auto and they don't line up with our fit the existing flanges. So that took quite a bit of fussing around.

    thanks for ths video. i have a 2008 pathfinder le that was from a northern state and rusted quiet badly underneath. has been nothing but trouble from day 1. i have already had the exhaust manifold assembly replaced due to a factory weld issue per the mechanic and the A/F ratio sensor and now a P0430 pops up which i am assuming because the cat converter is damaged. any suggestions on best way to remove the exhaust cover and then removing the bolts/studs? should i even bother with the replacement or just take my loses and sell the vehicle as is?

      So I took off the o2 sensor at the catalytic converter and was getting a reading of 55 psi which would suggest that it's pretty much shot. My question is what additional damage could be done to the engine if its ran like that and how long would it take. I've only driven it a total of 10 miles since the check engine light came on and got a p0300 random misfire fault

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
