The skills asymmetry in the economy is an issue. However, my nephew, who went to trade school to be a mechanic, explained that no matter where you applied, no matter your experience or degree, the starting wage for a mechanic is $15.00(Florida). You can't live anywhere in Florida on that wage.

Check the rate of debt increase, the rate of profitability in financial sector vs profitabiltiy in industrial sectors. Here is your answer why.
The economy is not growing, it is shrinking, the numbers that are shown to be growing are nothing more than inflated numbers caused by money printing. For a factory to grow, you have to increase you actually output.
In financial sector it is different, you print money, pump it into buying out shares, the capitalisation of the company increases and vuola, you have a GDP growth.
Regarding the numbers, they are all not reliable, so, one can as well ignore those.
For example, you had some fast food branch having a full time employee, and then they fired him and split that position into two part-times, and vuola, you have an "increase" in number of jobs.
It is the quality of jobs that matters, but which never is reported.

I assume we're talking about CORPORATE careers? Well, the careers of years gone by, the "company man" age, won't return unless we reestablish the conditions that allowed them to happen in the first place. Higher upper-income taxes, anti-trust enforcement, oversight, and regulation. The neocon and neoliberal 40-year campaign to deregulate is the primary cause of insecurity and destabalization of everything from education to housing to food prices.

    • @nikolaizaicev9297
      @nikolaizaicev9297 Před měsícem +2

Won't do a cr...p to solve that, the problem is inherent in the capitalist production system itself.
You might want to read the theory of Marx on the crisis of capitalism caused by the falling rate of profits, which is what we actually see for the last 30 years everywhere in the world in capitalist countries.
You make some product, you earn profit, everyone sees that and jumps in, since everyone is making it now, you are forced to lower your costs by wage reduction, etc. The wage reduction leads to less free available income, that then leads to the fall in demand which again lowers the profits, and that death spiral continues until majority of companies go bust.
Add to this the problem of financial blobs, where the earned profits don't go back into production of goods but instead go into bank accounts, purchases of comapany shares, etc. That money is lost for productive purpose after that, it generates rents without creating new goods and jobs.
That was described by Marx quite good in his Volume 1. While everyone was laughting at him at that time, now, it is becoming less and less "funny" for everyone.

If a machine or a bot is taking a job, then that should be a negative. Also. Why are we counting these platform jobs (door dash, uber, lyft, etc..) as increased job availability. Let me be clear. Any job you can get to take care of you and your family is a decent job, and there is no shame in that. However, to me that is not sustainable. No benefits or anything. Part time jobs should not be counted in the official count. I'm ranting, but you get my point.

Also, some advice on going back for (post) graduate education:
    1. Don't take out any loans to do it, especially if you already have student loan debt.
    2. Look to get accepted into a fully-funded master's program with a graduate teaching assistantship or fellowship (only apply to programs with full tuition remission plus stipend).
    3. Look to get accepted into highly ranked schools, accredited regional state schools at the very least.
    4. Apply to 10 programs or more; make sure you can afford the application fees and meet application deadlines well in advance.
    4. Consider starting with a graduate certificate program online if you feel you can handle the cost spread out over 2 years or so (they are pricey, but can be worth the money). The certificate will make you more competitive for getting accepted into master's programs. Make sure to secure academic references from your professors in the program.
    5. Make sure any online programs you may do come from reputable brick-and-mortar schools and the degree comes straight from the school, with no "online" designation.
    6. Apply for as many scholarships as you can if you are unable to secure an assistantship or fellowship. If you absolutely must take on debt, no more than 5-10k in total.

That is just an Illusion, which will change quite fast. The economy is interconected, you can't have worsening in one part, without leading to a worseining in another one.
All these blue colar jobs have to be in demand by someone right? And these are not the people who are blue colars, since they can do that by themselves, they don't need to pay for that.
What you see now is called a time delay effect, which will hit you hard too, very soon.

They think I am a "butt of the joke" because I entertain while educate here on CZcams on my other material. It is ok, these young guys are going to get hit hard with a thing call karma and no one can save them....in my opinion, of course. Good video.
