    Its been commented on before, but Aela also outright mocks the idea of going to Sovngarde. Something about wanting to drink mead and sit around instead of eternally hunting. When I played, I thought it was pretty much part of her entire character that she was in love with the hunt.

    • @Noobzlikeu
      @Noobzlikeu Před 6 měsíci +2

      She is. It's got nothing to do with reuniting with a fallen lover -- she just loves the hunt. If she was romantically involved with Skjor, I highly doubt she would be a marriage candidate.

  • @nyb8358
    @nyb8358 Před 4 lety +632

    Honestly my whole take on Aela is that she just genuinely loves being a werewolf. She loves the hunt and she loves the power brought by it. And when you mention to her that you don't want this "gift" anymore, she gets upset.
    While I'm sure she also just wants to see her lost friend again, I think she would have stayed a werewolf even if he lived.

      @DoctorWhoKage Před 4 lety +50

      Yeah, also, there's a mystery concerning that, too. If Lorkhan's so evil, why'd he "convince" the Divines to create Mundus, where all mortals live? Isn't the creation of LITERALLY EVERYTHING a good thing? And after they defeated Lorkhan, why didn't the Divines consider destroying Mundus and Nirn since, essentially, they're *Lorkhan's* creations, not their own?

    • @Mankorra_Gomorrah
      @Mankorra_Gomorrah Před 4 lety +21

      Dr. Kira well he essentially killed several thousand weaker gods who had to sacrifice themselves, or were involuntary sacrificed, to create Nirn. Lorkhan may have created reality as we know it in the games, but it cost hundreds of thousands of lives and many of the other gods aren’t thrilled about it.

    • @DoctorWhoKage

    • @Mankorra_Gomorrah
      @Mankorra_Gomorrah Před 4 lety +26

      Dr. Kira Because quite a few of them still want to interact with the mortals on Nirn. Some for entertainment, some for power, some get stronger due to the praise of mortals, and some because they genuinely care about the people living in Nirn. Plus it wouldn’t bring the dead lesser gods back to life and all of the mortals would die for nothing. Not to mention that Elves are the off spring of lesser gods who lost their power but not their lives and its theorized, at least by the elves, that if they just work hard enough they can become full gods again. Kill them all while they’re trapped on Nirn just to spite a different dead god wouldn’t solve anything.

    • @user-ke8ew3or5n
      @user-ke8ew3or5n Před 4 lety +13

      Dr. Kira as far as I understand it, each one of the divines gave part of themselves to create Nirn and now they are trapped on the mortal plane. That's how Lorkhan decieved them - he bound them to the realm and they simply can't destroy it even if they want to.

      Aela already expresses disinterest in Sovngarde _before_ Skjor dies. After your first transformation, you can ask her if there's a cure. She scoffs at that, and calls Sovngarde "some mead-swilling afterlife" that doesn't compare to "the glory of the hunt." Her name is Aela the _Huntress,_ after all. She's not sacrificing Sovngarde to stay a werewolf and reunite with Skjor. She already wanted to go to the Hunting Grounds.
      Skjor presumably enjoyed being a werewolf as well. When you tell Kodlak that he called it a blessing, he says "That sounds like Skjor." He has books about werewolves in his room. He and Aela hunted together often (in wolf form, most likely).

      Maybe due to that the Greedy Man isn't one person at all - maybe this is a figure that represents the dova as a whole. As Miraak has the soul of a dragon, he would be a candidate for the person who corrupted the tribe. As the Skaals are a Nord tribe after all and live on the Solthsteim that used to be under dragons and Dragon Priests' lead, it would explain why the Skaals sense the dragons as something evil as they ruled and enslaved the Nords. In this case The Greedy Man would be something like a Biblical Satan - although he's a character in the stories, in the religion itself he's rather a figure that represents the evil in general. Honestly, I believe that the same thing happens in the Skaals' beliefs.

    Skjor was killed *assaulting* the Silver Hand, not the other way around. Also. It is explicitly stated by Kodlak that some of the Circle 'would like nothing better than to hunt prey with their master for eternity, and that is their choice". Kodlak's journal reveals that both Skjor and Aela are those that would, whilst Vilkas and Farkas could be convinced otherwise. You can make more of that if you so please, of course, but there is nothing that suggests as such. It's not Aela's odd choice, within the Circle, it's 50/50, except Skjor dies before you can ask him.

    Yea, I have a mystery for you. I recently realized that at the outdoor area of Bthardamz, there is a passage which has an ornate pillar. It is the same pillar as the one that can be found southeast of the shrine of Peryite, and clearly bears his likeness. The thing is, this pillar at Btardamz is built into the ceiling, which seems to imply that it is a part of the original structure. So why would the Dwemer build a pillar depicting Peryite when we're told that they did not worship the Daedra, especially then Peryite who seems to be among the least significant princes? What am I missing?

      I know I'm a year late but peryite does give a distinctly dwarven looking shield, and while a "weaker" prince it seems they have a larger role in mortals...the dwarves probably aren't worshipping pery but since they see themselves as equal to the gods it could be possible they are peryite discussed some things....(perhaps even peryite had a hand in the "poison" that caused the snow elves to go blind....probably unintentionally)

Based on where they live, and being somewhat sociable, and intelligent, they are implied to either be a type of Falmer, or Riekr, probably the latter. The Gehenoth may be some kind of troll-kin, scary enough to terrify the other trolls. In addition, the Udefrykte is Skyrim is a reference to the Gehenoth, in addition to being an easter egg of 2 other games.

One is a covenant based agreement, the other is blessed directly by Akatosh to contain a dragon soul.

      Yeah but it doesn't explain the weapon of choice of the ancient dragonborn. Miraak seemed to favor magic and one handed weapon in his combat but the ancient dragonborn uses a great axe. Note that in game only the last dragon born summons this ancient dragonborn while using this shout Miraak is never seen summoning this dragonborn. So I guess this has something to do with the last dragon born. It could be a humanoid aspect or projection of dragon souls that were used by the last dragon born to learn the draconic aspect shout.
