Definitely do Botany over the spring or summer. we really enjoyed gathering flower petals and learning about male and female flowers. We grew butternut squash in the yard

I would love seeing you go through the health and body one and see if you agree with what it teaches!!😄 Just because I feel like their can be so much controversy around diet etc

There’s a documentary (series) called… Invention That Changed The World…I believe it’s on Prime. It would probably go so well with this science unit! And you could definitely just go through and pick and choose which episodes to watch.

We're going to do the motion one next year! It looks awesome and can't wait to see any more extras you pick up for it.
I know you don't repeat units but I'd love to hear what's your opinion on if the new units are lacking compared to the previous editions. I've heard that the new units, even though geared towards older kids, seem to have less information or are too simplified.
Love the videos--you always get me excited for school! 🤗

Loved seeing Chemistry and Simple Machines! I just added those to my list for next year to start us off in the fall. We have done a few units but not those yet. Thanks for sharing!

We partnered w/another homeschool family for the Chemistry unit (old version) 3-4hrs/1x per wk. My kids (5th & 7th at the time) really loved it actually. It was a lot to digest, but they really enjoyed! At the end of the unit, which also happened to be the last week of school, they had their "science fair" and gave their scientist research presentations to all family members over tacos 🙂 Was a super fun way to round out our year.

This is our first year with TGATB science and we are hooked! We started with Motion and Simple Machines and absolutely loved it. Then we did Paleontology and are now doing Botany because it lines up well with the start of growing season here in FL. We hope to have a vegetable garden this spring. We are finishing the year with Health and Body. And I purchased all the new ones as they released so I'm also all set for next year.

We did Simple Machines over the first semester of this year and enjoyed it. Our local homeschool group just happened to host a science fair at the end of the year that coincided with our completion of the unit, so that worked out beautifully as a "final project" for us. We have now moved on to Marine Biology and are enjoying it immensely! ⚙️ 💙🐋

Can you compare the pros and cons of the old vs. new science units? Beside the fact they are spiral bound and the convenience students. Like the material, how it's written, the mini books, and the actual activities the kids do?

We just started Motion and Simple Machines and my kids (1st and 5th grade) are enjoying it so far. You’re so right about not always following the grade levels. My 1st grader is understanding most of it, although some of it may be over his head as we move farther along. I got the younger student journal for my 5th grader, but I wish I’d gotten her the older student journal for this unit.

We just finished the revised Health and Physical Body unit. It wasn't my favorite it was good, but felt a little light for my 5th and 8th grader. We just started the old Chemistry unit because I already purchased it and I can definitely appreciate the new revised setup now. Almost forgot all the prep I have to do! Happy choosing!

Oh, I wish we had waited to do the new Chemistry!!! I bought it in the fall because the new one wasn't supposed to come out until the spring. The new books look amazing. We are struggling to get through it right now and I think they would enjoy the new version. So many good options. My kids REALLY enjoyed the Motion and Simple machines one, we finished it up right before Christmas. It was our first of the 'new' version ones we did, the kids loved the experiments and the journals. My 6th grader has been doing the 7-8 journal as well, but we did skip the odd one.

Robots!!!! How exciting. Love that you are adding in some extra goodies. The new kingdoms and classification was spectacular… loved it. And we are going to be doing the new health and body next. (After watching Jaimie’s flip through, I was sold) And I too got the new botany… did the og version but super excited about the version. TG&TB is just amazing.. I love adding them in. Happy homeschooling y’all

I am doing the Evan moor daily science. I just needed something like that for second semester. Everyday living with Margarita did it this year and I thought it would be great . My kids feel like they are behind in so much since I only started in 2021. Some of it so far is complicated but I can explain it. I did get the paleontology and am excited to do that as well as campfires Valentines Day unit . My boys are 6 and 7 grade and we are at a 5-6 grade level . Forget about math we are struggling and not set on even multiplication. Any suggestions?

Just keep teaching and persevering. Let go of where you “should” be and just choose things that are helping your child grow and learn. Homeschooling isn’t meant to be a race against grade levels that were instituted for the government systems anyway.
