- We're getting so close to opening!! In today's video we decorate the outsides of enclosures with epoxy and moss, we play with rocks, decorate the inside of the enclosures, and even help arrange the first-ever proposal in the zoo!!

Small business owners need to stick together. Giving that landscaping company more for the slate is also letting them know the value of those rocks, so that they can make the most of what they have.
I’ve done this with also landscaper guys! They seem to be way too nice lol I was doing the same thing, getting rocks for my bearded dragon enclosure and they were super exited about it lol

Please use gloves and respirators when using uncured epoxy! It can mess up your skin and lungs really bad; there’s a lot of folks that develop a sensitivity to the point that they can never use it again without a severe reaction.
i came to say this. I think ed even stuck his finger in it at some points and emily mentionned doing it and i was like 😱😱
that was my reaction when i first started the video. even use only ginger covers instead of full gloves. most people who use epoxy a lot that i know say to double glove when you use resin. mask is super important too... eeeep

You should definitely put some water sensors under Rex’s drainage in case it ever starts leaking you can get notified immediately!
This is a great suggestion! You can even get ones that shut valves if a leak is detected and I would guess they have ones that signal your smartphone nowadays too.

I'm sure you've heard this already but epoxy is something you should have a mask and gloves for! it can react weird sometimes and flash dry which gets HOT and can burn you...some people can have an allergic reaction so breathing it in and on your hands can be dangerous!
Yeah that but made me cringe so badly. But I loved the way it turned out. (Watching this sat in my craft room, decked out in PPE making resin art! Lol)

Putting up rainbows doesn't mean crap. So many companies do it just to get your money, so it's really no longer special. What sets Emily and Ed apart is that they don't talk about it. Out of everyone creating zoos and all that, you guys are by far the most "into it" than anyone else. The other big guys literally hired anyother company so they didnt have to do anything, it was setup for them. But you guys set up your own. I love it. Really brings the American devotion into the hobby.

I just had to buy some rock for my reptiles, so I went to Home Depot and found large flat garden paving stones asked if they had any broken ones. They had a couple and sold them to me for half price, something like $4 for huge flat pieces of stone. It’s worth putting in a little extra time and thinking beyond the reptile section!

Absolutely! And for those who live in the US but outside of Minnesota tbh. The US is massive. I live in Oregon (US northwest coast) and going to visit them would either be like 6 hours by plane, or a week long road trip.

As someone who regularly watches epoxy art on youtube, I'm kind of wanting you guys to take more precautions with the stuff. You shouldn't be breathing it in while it's setting, and you should be handling it with gloves.

Granted I live in the US but it’s a 14 hr drive so not something I can make very easily even if I want to go in person so bad and I would pay for a virtual tour (if they made one or just go through the virtual tour if free) and still come in person.

I was screaming GLOVESS the whole time, so I'm glad someone posted. It's still chemicals that are in the midst of reacting, even if it's not an issue with a one-time exposure for most people, there's no reason to not just wear gloves when they likely have some already.

guys, please use gloves while using apoxie! it can give you horrible rashes and allergies just from contact with the skin, it's usually fine when it's cured, but please be careful if you do this again! we don't want you guys getting sick!
Yes I was thinking the same thing epoxy is a really harsh chemical while still curing.
Always wear a respirator and gloves when mixing and using epoxy. To add on to this, fumes from curing and mixing in a closed space can contaminate surfaces with repeated exposure. Please research how to properly use resin and epoxy because it can really be harmful to your lungs and skin.
That’s how I felt oh my god when I saw it the amount of relief I had when they started using the syringe haha we don’t want our lovable duo dealing with an unpleasant reaction

@@kenxd585 its probably fine if they don't use apoxie a lot, people make mistakes but it can be very dangerous in the long run and we don't want them getting sick or possibly transfer the toxic to their more sensitive animals (it lingers if you don't clean it properly) be safe guys!

Hey guys! All love here, but when using epoxy you need to wear a respirator and gloves! It is SUPER toxic. Also make sure it is cured fully before allowing a reptile near it, and don't use it for anything like a food or water bowl. All love ❤ Just want you guys to be safe

This update brought so much joy to me. I love how the zoo is looking like a proper zoo now and I can't believe it that it was just an empty building some time ago... and the proposal, oh my! I am so happy for their happiness and I wish them both all the best!

After seeing the gnome I thought it would be a good idea to hide a bunch of little gnomes, and give out prizes to each person that finds a gnome. Just a fun thing in the facility for kids and for your coworkers. Good luck with the facility.👍
In Wroclaw, Poland, they have over 100 miniature (hand-sized) brass gnomes scattered across the city center. Each is unique and fun to hunt down.

There is some brands of resin that are non toxic actually! Not recommend to touch of course but it won't hurt 😁

Ed's right about the exploding rocks! I hadn't heard it about ovens, but we learned it during a wilderness survival lesson at summer camp- never pick rocks to line your fire pit with from near the river, it could end up being a very exciting though very bad idea.
You guys have done such an amazing job through all the ups and downs of getting this place ready, and I am in awe of how much hard work you and friends & family have done. It would've been easy to push off all the work to a contract company to not get your hands dirty or use up your own time & energy, but as much as possible, you guys have been right in there in the hardest of tasks, and to me it just really shows how much you care about this facility, the animals who are going to live in it and also the guests who are going to pop in for a visit. You guys have done so awesome, and I hope one day to be able to see it in person! Love from NB, Canada.

Bold of you to work with epoxy without gloves but I've got to say, I love the look of it. I was actually doing some epoxy work while watching this. I was just by recently to see the retail side and I'll have to take another trip to see the zoo after opening. I love seeing how well it's all coming together. One of the first things I noticed when I saw the cave in person were all the drips. Such a cool and realistic effect. Also congrats to Jeff and Colin. They are an adorable couple.

@9:28 "That Thing" is Tradescantia zebrina, a Spiderwort and my absolute favorite plant!! I've never seen fake ones tbh and imo those look super real! The real plants stripes have an almost sparkly look to them I adore them. (Note: Wikipedia still calls their common name "Wandering Jew" but it is seen in extremely poor taste to call it that, its common name is actually "Wandering Dude".)

emily always reminds me of the girl from Rio- same enthusiasm and adorable demeanor. what i love most about Snake Discovery is how the exotic pets are hardly used for click baits and ed and emily's personalities are wonderful enough to carry the channel haha

I was very afraid of snakes when I first started watching. Emily’s personality ( and Ed’s as he started to get more involved) was fun to watch and I’ve slowly have become less afraid of snakes.
