I recenlty found out just HOW hard game developing is due to my friend trying to make their own game. And holy crap, that was just a dating sim. Something like this- I can't imagine the work and it turns out so amazing!! Really appreciate the creators bro
It's why I can't rage AT ALL when a game comes out glitchy. No matter your AQ team, no matter how much you work on it, that shit's hard. And not all code is created equal.

I'm in school for creating games right now and there's so much stuff that you need to do. Even if you do something 100% right there's a chance of something not going right when it loads or starts and something is wrong. It's honestly a miracle that games are usually only a little broken or we see a couple glitches here and then. I have mad respect for indie developers and small groups that turn out such good content like this.

I mean before even if I didn't like nor ever played a game I would respect the ppl for making it, but now I've got that respect on a whole new level. Even if its something as minor as the fact that I don't like the type of graphics they used or sumin so I won't play it, at the very least I'm gonna give em full credit for their entire game
This game looks really cool, although it breaks the "show, don't tell" rule in a couple of spots. Overall tho I really like the aesthetic and I'm excited for the full version.
That's kind of the gig with Lovecraftian works tho. Sometimes you see a monster, sure, but the true fear is from the unknown and the inconceivable. If you show rather than tell, you generally lose both of those, so they become known and conceivable.
@@ossiehalvorson7702 That’s true but whenever it’s in be stories, the person who encounters the creature sees it, they have very little description because it’s something that human brains think shouldn’t exist. So what the character of the game thinks that’s what that looks like.

Great game! The spelling and grammar errors were truly terrifying. That being said, the sounds and story and the puzzles are pretty good. And some of the creature designs were really creepy. I enjoyed this one.
It has a ton of potential. Definitely gave me The Shore vibes, but the spelling and grammar mistakes hurt so bad. The idea and graphics were definitely decent though!

It amazes me how many people still do horrible Google translates or translate it themselves when they have poor English when Fiver is a thing. Even the cheapest Fiver translation is better than Google. You'd think game developers would understand the importance, especially when story is a big part of their game. And I'm only complaining so much because it had so much potential with visuals, music and atmosphere and yet they chose to cheap out on a core element of that atmosphere.

I hope they one day make a VR game where you are literally just floating and swimming in the sea but are always hearing things and seeing stuff but it doesn't hurt you that is unless you are too slow, you get to swim to islands and get stuff there but you can hear the roars of creatures waiting for you to return to your watery demise.

@@AfromanRants Kinda but more fear inducing, like always seeing something out of the corner of your eye, and sometimes the sea creatures whisper for you to look down or look behind you while you're swimming and if you do something scary happens, in whatever scary way that may be.

I like how in this game instead of running away (or swimming in this case) like other Mythos protagonists he just goes "I got my trusty waterproof torch on me, square up I dare you" to things several times his size. Idk its just funny to me lol
R'lyeh sounded oddly terrifying yet beautiful in The Call of Cthulhu and I'm glad to see a game based on it.

I just realized the crab in the beginning is just the giant crab model from stranded deep with different texture and some eyeballs stuck onto the shell
I don’t know why but for some reason this game is constantly giving me shivers and chills which I don’t do for any of IGP’s other videos but it means that the game is good and creepy so thumbs up!

As a gun nerd seeing a Taurus raging bull have 7 rounds in a 6 round cylinder that's chambered in 9mm just drives me bonkers, game still looks pretty good

as a non gun nerd i just assumed it was like that due to the game's themes of insanity and things not making sense, even i knew that six round gun shouldnt shoot seven but im gonna say it was intentional as in your comment you said "Drives me bonkers" meaning the games themes of insanity are working.

Friendly reminder that canonically, Cthulhu is weak to boats to the face, as he has been destroyed temporarily in one of Lovecraft's works in that manner.
I absolutely love Lovecraft games, Dagon was one of my absolute favorites that you played! Please keep doing videos like this, I love watching them and hearing your commentary! Also a little side note; The names like Cthulhu and r'lyeh aren't supposed to be normally spoken so there's really no right way to pronounce them. Lovecraft himself explained in one of his letters, that in his mind they aren't humanly pronounceable, you could only come close to the 'original' sound by gurgling and coughing the letters.
Watching all these Lovecraft inspired games that IGP plays inspired me to read H.P Lovecraft's call of Cthulhu. And theirs a passage that details a supposed figurine of Cthulhu that Lovecrafts uncle had discovered in the 1920's or earlier which states: "It represented a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline,
but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly,
rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on hind and fore feet, and long,
narrow wings behind. This thing, which seemed instinct with a fearsome and
unnatural malignancy, was of a somewhat bloated corpulence, and squatted
evilly on a rectangular block or pedestal covered with undecipherable
characters. The tips of the wings touched the back edge of the block, the seat
occupied the center, whilst the long, curved claws of the doubled-up,
crouching hind legs gripped the front edge and extended a quarter of the way
dowwn toward the bottom of the pedestal. The cephalopod head was bent
forward, so that the ends of the facial feelers brushed the backs of huge fore
paws which clasped the croucher's elevated knees. The aspect of the whole
was abnormally life-like, and the more subtly fearful because its source was so
totally unknown. Its vast, awesome, and incalculable age was unmistakable;

It's a very intriguing encapsulating read, and if you havnt read it I suggest you do. Its only about a two hour read and its fascinating as hell

It is a good game, it's heart is in the right place... but it's some hot sweet jank. Seems like og slav jank, which is kinda awesome these days
As to how the light works... seems it got a battery pack and motor housing on the holder. The shaft is also housing the motor shaft, and the gears are spinning a small generator powering the bulb. It's jank tech, I wudn't hit things with it.
This reminds me of the last video that one was scary as hell that one picture of the fish in the background was terrifying that gave me shivers
