Mom Bathes Kids in Pot of Melted Snow

  • Children in a pot of hot water may seem like it’s straight out of a nursery rhyme, but this is actually a move from an ingenious mom. Dr. Marie Harper and her family found themselves dealing with rolling power outages and no running water because of snow and ice storms in Shreveport, Louisiana. In order to bathe her five children, ages 6 and under, Harper melted snow in a pot used for crawfish boils, and dropped her kids in one at a time! Inside Edition Digital’s TC Newman has more on their story. #InsideEdition

My mum used to wash me in a snow pot, it’s actually pretty common in Scotland. There’s a lot of people living off the grid that bath in our rivers and lochs (lakes) but in the winter that’s a really bad idea and when we get really cold weather not even possible, in many parts over here we get snow too, our local iron monger makes a thing he calls a snowpot which takes a long time to get ready but can fit two skinny adults or one extra large one lol health and safety would never let company’s mass produce them here

My old apartment I use to stay in had problems with the heating system. Any time the furnace would go out we would not have hot water. I use to fill the bath tub with cold water and boil pots of water to add to the cold so I could still take a bath. I remember my husband asked me what I was doing. He came from a background where he never had to struggle for anything...lol. Once he saw what I was doing he beg me to run him a bath because he said he was tired of taking cold showers. I mean you be amazed at what some people do to get by. I feel I'm blessed because I never panic in situations like this. It's like I turn into my parents. Lol.
