NOTTINGHAM FOREST DEFEAT TO MAN CITY PROVIDES HOPE OR WAS IT JUST ANOTHER MISSED CHANCE?

- Nottingham Forest played well against Manchester City but left regretting Chris Wood's missed chances and another goal conceded from a corner as they lost 2-0. So should Forest take the positives in defeat against a top side or is it the case that results matter and nothing else at this stage of the season. Matt Davies is joined by Michael Temple and former Reds defender Kelvin Wilson. #nffc

Nuno always a 5 at the back manager at wolves wich gave us great times.Forest look good and had good chances. If he keeps this lineup you will stay up.WWFC fan
Really hope you're right, well done on your season, pleased to see Gary O'Neil doing well.
Thanks for your insight, it's a really good point
Only thing we didn't do was put the ball in the net. We played so well against the best team in Europe.
Danilo is still only 22. He'll get so much better.
Got to say Kelvin Wilson is so good on here. Insight, eloquence and makes proper sense. Hopefully he sees this message. If not Matt, let him know. Cheers duck.
Cheers He's great. Will pass that on to him. 👍
Yes, like Lewis, very insightful and modest.
If forest can't beat Sheffield United we deserve to get relegated.
They couldn't beat palace Bournemouth Brentford Everton Luton away and won't beat Burnley either - Sheff Utd will be a draw at best .. it's happened all season so won't change now
You probably have to beat both Sheffield United and Burnley ....
I was proud with the level of performance from the team yesterday. Hopefully it should gives the players more confidence to play well in the remaining matches. That's the positive I took from yesterday's match.
Nice to see my main man boly back also aina what a game my nerves can't take much more this season
can we sign Kelvin as a defensive set piece coach, man talks sense
I was pulling my hair out when Wood tried to side step the ball into the net
Another decent pod Matt. Appreciate all your hard work as always. No more losses this season and I think we stay up.
Thank you.
Another great show. Kelvin is always a great guest.
We were close to getting a draw yesterday; such a shame as one point could make all the difference. Forest players raised their game. Man City were far from their best.
39:39 To me it looked like it easy could have been an offside if Murillo had not felt behind physically and hold the line ...in stead of trying to be in the race, in front of the situation with Haaland.
The one drawback with Murillo is that due to his heavy physique, he can't jump . His other attributes probably outweigh this, but we need to allow for it when defending set pieces and set up accordingly.
Just as, on many occasions we have had MGW marking the oppositions tallest player. It's all basic tactics which we don't seem able to implement.
Agree re Murillo and MGW defensively. Seems poor organisation.
On set pieces, corners in particular why don’t we have players on the post anymore? Is that not done these days? Would have likely prevented that goal.
When virtually every single pass in the final quarter is for target man Chris Wood (as it should be as the one & only striker) of course Wood has at least 12 goals this season! He should be up on 20 as the only target man who has received all the final passes (few & far between as they have been at times.) 12 is a miserable tally for a striker in that position in a team like Forest when the only other striker Awoniyi has been injured for over half the season.
What it seems you have all forgotten is just how bang average Wood is. It’s a major concern that Forest’s survival rests on such an unreliable tier two striker!
The two absolute sitters he completely fluffed & missed against Man City are akin to similar absolute tap-ins, nudge-ins, slot-ins, knock-ins Wood also missed in crucial moments in must win matches or must draw games against Everton, Wolves, Tottenham, Palace, Brighton, Liverpool, Man UTD, Bournemouth just to list 8 matches where Wood has let himself & Forest down.
Wood freezes, panics, glitches, hashes or errs in front of goal with golden opportunities are nothing new.
That is why he has bounced from team to team from way back in 2006 Cambridge back to NZ Hamilton, Waikato, back to the likes of WBA, Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham, Leicester, Millwall, Leeds, Burnley & unused at Newcastle before being flicked & dumped off at Forest.
He has exceeded expectation by his own very mediocre standards! Just hope he finds his striking boots against Sheffield UTD & Burnley! If he doesn’t both he & Forest are doomed to relegation.
Thank you, Temps, for not attributing Wood's fluffs to "confidence". It is too tempting for commentators to ascribe incidents, even almost random incidents, to some grand narrative. And almost always wrong to do so. The notion of "Hot Hands" or "Cold Hands" in basketball has been thoroughly debunked statistically (see the essay "Streak of Streaks" by Stephen Jay Gould). More often than not a miss is just (as Temps says) one of those things. OOTT. End of story, much as we might want to make a bigger story of it.

Forest have raised their game for the top
Sides but then go on to fail to win against mid /lower teams and won't win either of the remaining 2 away games ! 100% .. Not winning in both games against Luton will prove to be fatal.
I hope Miltiadis has good knowledge of championship
Players 🤦🏻♂️
You're right, I'm just hoping we can somehow wangle enough points from somewhere to stay up.
Militidis has no knowledge of any players. Remember them clamouring to make sure everybody knew Lingard was his deal when it first happened? You don’t hear it mentioned now
@@DennGlanzig he signed a great cheerleader and maybe that would have helped this season - the team play with no heart !
Origi was his signing and crap he cost 6 years new council rent on the ground - so why moan about it when we can squander so much at the hands of somebody who knows nothing - the chairman should go too he just wants to design & build a new ground and destroy the clubs identity and line his pockets
it was mgw not danillo that let guariola run past him and Neco had literally been aggressively man marking guadiola when he was on the pitch. Aina was oustanding, for me possiby POTS
Cant imagine many other PL strikers missing 2 chances that easy, almost as bad as the Spurs and Everton misses. We all know the stats re set piece goals conceded, another very poor one Sunday.
Just how many players have scored a goal this season, that's the problem,if someone doesn't step up we've had it !!!
Chris Wood's missed chances? So the club have their main striker injured most of the season, the club fails to get quality backup and everything is put on Wood's shoulders and suddenly it's 'what if Chris Wood had...' How about if we had 3 quality strikers rather than thinking Divock Origi was still a footballer andt hat Elanga knows where the goal is?
Some things are always gonna be better, but no it doesn't get any better
I had a dream last night that we lost 2-1 to Sheff U😬
Great podcast just seen it late today thanks Matt amazing work
Thanks Trevor.
It could have been so different had we scored more than them . What nonsense .
sangare plays 10 mins amonth, its unfair to have a discussion about him at this point.
Got to give players time to warm up, a player cant go down and expect to be replaced straight away without any prep, both physically and mentally. Just asking for another injury
Why do you think it's gonna get better
I dont know why gibbs white is on corners.. We havnt done well from a single one almost lol come on switch the corner taker. Il jump on for 30 seconds n put one better than what weve done. I swear to god lol
What you on about? MGW didn't take on corner yesterday I'm sure
Very good podcast.
Great observations well articulated 👍
Thanks Bryan.
Just chill man we will beat Sheffield united Chelsea what you worried about man wee will be ok man deep breath chill we will be ok
Cheats beat the cheats!!!
Tbh i think if we did take a couple of our chances city would of of took it up a gear and still beat us
nahh city ground would have exploded and gone on to win
Watched yates....he looked lost
Love to see Forest getting relegated 🌳💩🔥😂

Finally I’ve found people with a like minded opinion. Man City are so utterly boring to watch. I’m retire and over the course of the week I watch many, many premiership games. However if I have a choice, I will never watch Man City.
It’s like watching an expensive Swiss watch!
