Three lionesses from the Nkuhuma pride bring down a buffalo bull.
...
From MalaMala Game Reserve to wherever you are in the world, we'll bring you moments from our daily safaris in one of Africa's most iconic private game reserves. This is essentially a continuation of our 'Rangers in Isolation' series which was filmed during the national Lockdown.
To see such young cubs finishing a buffalo bull is something I would never have expected to see in my entire life. Georgeous snppets of a once in a lifetime sighting.
BS. Always the lion fans consider them as Cubs. Ask lions to face one bull elephant and see how they run
@@rameshpudhucode6862 Well, elephants have very tough skin and are very hard to take down when grown. Also, stop applying human morals to animals, it's kill or be killed the lions just wanna get fed.

Excellent huntresses! Good training for the youngsters. Lots of hard work too.
Expert huntresses working together as a perfect team. Baffles my mind how coordinated they're going for the exact spot that leaves maximum impact on the prey. Lionesses are true beasts
Incredible that only 3 lionesses brought that adult bull down.
Oh man that was brutal, but its life.

I love how concerned the other buffalo were for their friend. Checking his injuries while trying to defend him. Amazing.
Not concerned at all, they checked if he could be left alone and even told him to stay and please the lions by giving up. They do it like people do to please an agressor

A nice big meal for the pride and growing cubbies. ❤️🦁
the buffalo had more than one chance to get away and didnt take the opportunity! good on those beautiful girls for not giving up
I smoke cannabis--- it was cramped from the spinal and legs bites it got. I was waiting for the lions to bite off his testicles and get it over with. That bite always grounds them and so the feeding can commence. Poor beast breathing like a 200 ton machine exhaust .God is magnificent .But I wish when prey are caught by predators it would just die and avoid the horror of being eaten alive. So evil 😫Dining while food breathes 😞....Sad!!
They had damaged his back leg joints. They do this for this very reason, to incapacitate them so they can’t run. Then they wear them down to exhaustion. It’s a tedious process but the only way to bring down the big game. Sad to watch but is nature at it’s finest.
@@saidesmithson I agree. It seems evil to eat prey alive.
I know this comment is a few years old but this is complete nonsense. It was badly injured and on top of that it was completely exhausted. You try fighting for your life for hours in hot weather and then, while your legs and back are badly bleeding from lion bites, see how easily you can run away. It was too hurt. If it could have run, it would have the moment the other buffalo first came to help. It didn't run away because it couldn't.
LIONESS has prepared fresh morning breakfast for her kids but It eventually became BRUNCH A huge FEAST. Thanks for sharing :)
Despite without male lions, they can hunt a big buffalo..
They are very strong pride...
The cubs have reliable mothers and aunts...
Yes, along with hunger, they have motherhood for motivation!
The patience one needs to survive in this reality puts any one of us to shame...and the pain threshold proves nature does not care what is "right or wrong" ONLY we do.
Humans can talk and need 20 years to develop so there has to be right or wrong because of that.
Humans are million folds more evil than these animals .we just tend to brush it off
@@gledatelj1979 how does humans talk (communication) prove there is a concept in nature that is "right" and "wrong?"
@@fillfinish7302 Evil is based off of one's spiritual belief. But yes, since "humans" are cognizant of their existence and still choose to hurt others psychologically and physically could be considered evil. However, the universe does not have this concept.

What a beautiful picnic that family had..
Omg, that's exactly what I thought esp that scene at the end with the lions eating at the rear and the buffalo propped up still very much alive. Probably in shock so feeling little pain just great tugs at his innards
He trusted too much in his fierceness till he refused to run away with the rest of the herd when they made several attempts to rescue him. Anyway thanks to him for being generous to the cubs, they really needed that feast
He was injured and couldn't keep up the the lioness will never give up either
I think he was ill. There was something wrong with him. The defenders were a lot more energetic.
Nkuhuma lioness are amasing i know its awful ti watch for some but these lionesses are so powerful who needs the male lion when you have these beautys
Such powerful footage. Very persistent lionesses. Always amazed that lions and wild dogs eat their prey alive. They even fed the buffalo to the cubs before it died.
Asi les van aser a los que estan gravando
I thought the lions usually killed the animal by suffocating it before the meal
Lions don't usually eat their prey alive. They go for the neck and for quick death before start munching. In this case buffalo's horns are too dangerous and the bull itself is very strong so attacking the neck can cause serious injury to lionesses. This is why they went from behind but you cannot die quickly when you're being eaten from your legs and ass. They don't have a choice by waiting for it to die which will take hours so its better they just start eating before hyenas show up. Wild dogs on the other hand almost always eat their prey alive because they are much weaker with small teeth. They can't go for the neck.
The queens of the jungle 🖤❤️🔥
That's an accurate description

fascinating to see the lionesses having the endurance and intelligence to pull this off. this fight was probably going on for several hours, or even days, where neither the buffalo nor the lionesses havent rested in a long time and were extremely tired (thats why the lionesses gesture of encouragement at 5:58)
Incredible!
Three lions- the lions tag team. They can rest.
One buffalo- he can't rest.... that's the difference.
@@ipaja5515 Buffalos are pretty stupid as well. Their whole strategy to stay alive was dumb.
@@Elcherino123 why u say that? It's about self preservation. If you're measuring intelligence by the ability to group and defend yourself then buffalo are very intelligent. So many lion attacks have been thwarted because the buffalo have returned to rescue their attacked colleague.
@@ipaja5515 it was lackadaisacal. Look at roman legions or even shows like vikings. You make some sort of shield wall when you try to save them. So basically you move the wounded to the middle of the herd and that herd moves away with all its weapons in an outward fashion. Conserve energy and focus on defense. Here is a visual representation czcams.com/video/CbuEuq2Hrpw/video.html
Injured Bull: "Hey you guys, I need help!" Other Bull: "We can't do this all day, Bill... are you coming, or are you going to continue to mess with those guys?"

Buffalo’s courage and bond are equally admirable. Nature as
cruel as beautiful - an extraordinary difficult contradiction.
The injured buffalo had ample opportunity to run, but didn’t. I guess he was more worried about his protector. The lionesses are not going to start over and go after a healthy bull. Not a lease in that moment. The protector would have handled himself well. The injured bull should have run but he didn't

Your videos are always so well-made and informative. 🎓 Thank you for everything!
Fascinating animal psychology. The Bull seemingly had a number of opportunities to go rejoin the herd but his want to hit or punish those lions overtook the zone of safety. Then it seemed when the other Buffalos were assisting, they sniffed the injury spots to see if the Bull was mortally wounded and as such, give up the defense. Interesting that the ladies didn't go for the nose or throat, their jaws were too small. It was also pretty clear they were tired and once they had him down and severed his leg muscles they took a break while the others started feeding. It must've taken an incredible amount of energy to bring this guy down.
There's so much about nature/animals we don't (and may never) know. I was thinking about the same thing as you - I truly believe animals have some sixth sense that may allow them to understand injury/sickness. Maybe severely injured/dying animals give off certain pheromones that others of the same species can sense/interpret? Or maybe animals they can sense when their fellow members have simple given up? Fascinating stuff indeed.
Yes. All of the above I observed as well. Well said. I wondered why they weren't going for the throat to finish it. Makes sense now. Sad to see him lay there, head off the ground, and being eaten. Alive. Incredible

Good video. I wish it focused also on when the buffalo was brought down and the cubs feeding on a live buffalo as it struggled in vain to get up
When the insect fly around the buffalo, it means dinner for the lionesses and cubs.
I know he was hurt but the victim needed to have exited the scene when his help arrived the 1st and 2nd times. He waited way way to long to start moving. As time moved on he was really too hurt to move but he had opportunity earlier on
He couldn't run away because he was outnumbered and exhaustion got to him. He needed to catch his breath. If he could, he would but then again the lions would just jump on his back and done even more damage to his backbone. He ran out of enery as the lions attacking him in every angles possible. He is an old bull and the weakest obviously, thats why predators go for the weakest one. If the other bulls didn't give up on him, then it would have been a different story and he would live to tell the tale.
I'll fight u in Comments the original poster is correct. The bull had enough energy and mobility to charge the lions the first couple of times his friend tried to save him. But whyyyyy😩🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️? He should have run in the direction of the herd not use precious energy to try to punish the lions 🤔. The bull was playing right into the lions hands by isolating himself from the herd and trying to charge them. The lions would have never gone after him if he would have run and hid amongst the herd . The bull did not make wise decisions if his motive was to live.
The other bulls gave up on him because they could tell that he was already lion food even though he was still standing. Since he didn’t run back to the herd after the first and second chances, the lions continued to damage him and eventually immobilized him. The other bulls said “sorry old chap - it was good to know you” and bailed. What else were they supposed to do - CPR🤷🏾♀️?

This was a great video. Thank you!
That buffalo looked like an old man, but damn.. he was a warrior. Fascinating (and sad/disturbing) that the lions began eating him before he had died. I have seen people in comment sections say vicious things about Painted Wolves (Cape Hunting Dogs, Wild Dogs, etc) who often begin eating their prey alive because they often don't have time before larger predators arrive, and yet I have seen two videos in recent days of lions engaged in the same behavior, and they are top predators. Nature is savage, and clearly doesn't have time for niceties.
I was surprised they brought the cubs so quickly, too. Buffalo are very dangerous.
Oh yeah, amazingly I've never seen someone commenting on such a video that they'd want to kill the lions with a riffle, yet you can see these comments in almost every comment thread of a wild dog video. The inconsistency is bitter and frustrating.
i like everything u said. it's very true. it's partly due to the way hollywood and early european explorers to Africa presented big cats compared to dogs and hyenas
There's a video of a buffalo still on his feet, but his ass in the tail area is gone because the lion's are eating him. I don't know how he was standing with that much of his ass area gone. But tough ole bastard continued to struggle to the end

The "Amazing Nkuhumas" are buffalo hunting experts! the fact that there were only 3 females taking that big bull buffalo down is phenomenal to watch! I couldn't help hearing the comments from the safari guests at the sighting...while I am not cold hearted to the plight of the buffalo, or any potential prey item that is being targeted, I believe that it is nature and the proverbial "circle of life" is taking place. These lionesses have to take huge risks to take on a buffalo so they can then supply food for their offspring. these people are so very privileged to be witnessing this, as difficult as parts of it are. the strength, determination, teamwork, etc. of these lionesses is a beautiful thing imo.
