It is unimaginable that Thin Lizzy is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.True Injustice.
Why would you care about some first world institution?
@@STXHC I really should look at it that way and not frustrate myself.
R&R hall of bullshit!
Fuck the rock and roll hall of fame. What a God damn joke. Thin lizzy? No. Blue oystet cult? No. Run dmc? YES. Fucking joke man.
2 years later.
Fuck the hall
Thin Lizzy is and always was above it
✌&❤
Some bands are too badass to be in the hall of lame. Thin Lizzy is one of them
Best underrated band in the world! Loud, gracefully, lyrically
Hundreds of metal bands owe Lizzy.
Fact
@@reubster529 Absolutely True!
One of these days, Brian Downey will be recognised as one of the greatest drummers that ever graced a stage.......!
Probably when he dies which is sadly often the case
He already is
Yup, Brian is an amazing drummer. Often overlooked, because he was never a big showoff, and always knew how to play the right drums FOR THE SONG.
A rare treat of a classy drummer. Also, he never really got down with heroin, so he just stayed super tight all those years. Just a brilliant drummer in an absolutely amazing rockband. It is magic that they happened to find each other. As with Gorham as well, american boy at the right place and the right time. That's how history gets made, I guess.
brian downey is one of the most underrated drummers of rock history
Hell yeah. How awesome .
Downey is better than Bonham, Moon, Ringo Star, etc, only Neil Peart or Paice are equiparable to him in the 70's
He really makes it look effortless.
Brian Downey is Just great!
yep...great chops & perfect time/feel...drumming, either u got it or u don't...and downey has it in spades.
Thin Lizzy criminally underrated
They were one of the best bands ever but they were never managed or promoted well enough. They should be massive and legendary all around the world.
@@TheHumbuckerboyAgreed
mate, early 70s they were up against some massive rock bands..Zep DP Sabbath etc..
Phil's voice was pretty different, maybe not even a lead voice... and an Irish Black dude back then perhaps wasn't seen as box office @ sign of the times..
Just speculating here mate.
Seeing them '81 at the Hammersmith has been in my top 3 all time gigs for 45 years..and I saw Zep at Knebworth 79!
I like how half of the song is about a guy with a bad reputation and half of the song is just a jam.
Love this band!
Brian Downey is a beast on those drums
Scott Gorham was amazing on this album, not only for solid guitar playing but for awesome hair too.
That's some crazy good drumming that even Ian Paice would approve of.
Check out Lizzys tribute to Deep Purple "Funky Junction play a tribute to Deep Purple"
Great comment. Brian and Ian are two of the greatest swing/rock drummers along with Mitch Mitchell who was a member of Jimi’s Experience. 👈
Brian Downeys drumming is insanely good. They were the consummate live band. RIP Phil, never forgotten here in your home town.
Phil will should never be forgotten anywhere! His music will be played over here in the States every day as long as I live
I bought this album in 1977 good album.
This band was beyond cool, even the late 70's punk rockers had respect for them, which was nice.
ahaha really... love it!
A respect for their song craftsmanship for sure - but also pure fear because they knew Lizzy could kick their asses. Literally! xD
Thin Lizzy the best rocking band that ever existed on this planet, They had a Bad Bad Reputation, they played live and dangerous all the time. Those Lizzy boys lead my young 6 brothers and me astray in our youthful years, we traveled all over the place and from town to town and never miss a gig even if meant we had robbed the local bank to get money to buy out tickets or we had to bluff our ways into the gigs, We never regretted a single moment. Yes the very best rocking band that ever existed. Man I miss Thin Lizzy and Phil the Rocker
The articulation of every drum fill, the harmony-drenched dual guitar hooks… this is next level heavy rock
Phil's bass line is sooooo great. Brian Downey is like a locomotion and Scott's solo is just amazing. Probably the BEST rock group ever.
you didn't mention brian who's a damn good guitarist even though in this tune he doesn't do more then just rhythym
It's just incredible! This is really one of the greatest hard rock songs ever written. And perfect production by Tony Visconti
They're so freaking tight! On point ever note.
@@danbal4185 Visconti was great at times but not so great for Lizzy at other times IMO.
@Dan Bal sure is, check out "sugar blues" another one of my favorite thin lizzy tunes with killer drumming similar to this tune.
I spent a fortune listening to this on the juke boxes in the pubs in Sheffield where I used to drink. Great memories.
Phil Lynott was such a cool cat. He was the epitome of groovy melodic hard rock.
Totally!! He's my all-time favorite bassist - his style is so killer.
Kris Sisu Lynott is criminally umderrated, however, I wonder if he learned to play from Lemmy (or maybe Lemmy learned from Lynott) as their way of playing is somewhat similar, you could say Lynott had no distortion in his sound whatsoever...
Hell yeah he was sexy as in those pants! Such a shame 😔
When I hear the term "Rock God", I instantly think of Phil Lynott !!! \m/
More face
Rock God's every one with Phil leading the charge.
That f***in drummin man.
Most underrated band ever!
Art Vandelay No,,not even close, most underrated band ever is Blue Oyster Cult
Mario Finka blue oyster cult is amazing but not underated van der graff generator is underated
Alex Rinaldi Never heard of them, i will check them out now
budgie
carlos ruiz i love budgie
One of my favorite rock bands of all time! LONG LIVE THIN LIZZY!
@ *EricBlackmonGuitar*
☘️ Only "one of your favourite Rock Bands of all time"? 🙄
Surely you must meant THE favourite of all bands, all time. 😉😉😋
Hes one of my Favs TOO!!!WE GOT TO BE FRIENDS XD
Maybe we could get some more thin lizzy tutorials?
Saw Lizzy live in Brisbane Australia, in the early 80's absolutely brilliant, one of the best bands ever...
I'm now 75 years of age and lived through the sixties musical revolution where we were spoilt for choice, Thin Lizzy however is/was my favourite band of all time. The line up in this video is/was also my favourite line up.
Three minutes of hard rock perfection
Hard to believe that this song came out around 50 years ago!
Best thin lizzy line up of all history. Lynott, Gorham, Robertson & Downey
right
For Real!
Brian Downey, excellent drummer, listen to that drum line.
RIP Phil Lynott (August 20, 1949 - January 4, 1986), aged 36
You will be remembered as a legend.
Wow, wow, wow, with this line-up Thin Lizzy were surely one of the greatest rock bands ever!!! Brian absolutely killing the drumming and all three 'front men' at their best. Can't play this enough times...
hello, how are you doing? it is nice meeting you here.
In 2018 I went from Chile to Dublin to meet Phil Lynott's city. Greatest rock and roll band ever!
If you don't like this, then you don't like rock n roll.
Scott absolutely nailed that solo!
Probably my favorite drumming for any song
Justin Dittburner Brian downy, I could never understand why ppl never raved about this guy.I think ppl are just dumb with no taste and just take whatever is shoved down their throats and think that's all there is.
People don't know thin Lizzy in general. I just really started to discover them about five years ago. Now I am a fanatic.
Yes!....the drumming is WOW!!!
They're not dumb....they just don't get it. Another level. When you hear it, you know it and get it. It's not for everyone to understand.
Need my Lizzy every day
Brian Downey...what a machine!
I love that defenders of the faith priest album cover u got..that was one sick album.. thin lizzy have some killer tunes..I remember lynot sang with gary moore on his Garrys solo track out in the fields.. great song as well!
I saw this lineup and they set the bar so high when they opened for Queen, that Queen as great as they were had no prayer. Lizzy blew the roof off of the Sportatorium that night in 77. The best live show I ever witnessed, and I've seen all the greats of the 70's!
Saw the same tour in 77 at the Saginaw Civic center. Queen and Thin Lizzy
😎🤘
What a nice double bill.
Kinda like Van Halen opening for Sabbath, consistently smoked em- and that was no small feat.
Queen got so much praise. In my opinion they were kinda overrated. their 2 albums are hard rock after that they became mainstream rock pop. I have listened to Thin Lizzy Jailbreak , Bad reputation, Live and dangerous and Thunder and Lightning. I believe you they blew off Queen
Harry Doherty covered "The Queen Lizzy Tour '77" queenarchives.com/qa/xx-xx-1977-melody-maker/
Thwt drummer is a WEAPON 👍
Just watched the Phil lynott documentary on BBC 2..... what a badass he was... Tragic end to his life... I just loved the twinkle in his eye... It spoke volumes..... This track is one of the best rock songs of all time.... Still gives me shivers
I never heard this song until that doc - v good
What a great solo by Scott...he can really make that guitar cry.
Thin Lizzy could groove like fuck.
My favourite band - they were sublime.
What a Bad Ass band I just love these guy it’s a crime that they aren’t in The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame instead they’re too busy inducting no talent acts. RIP Phil you are truly missed
Top five Band of all time tragically under rated
All of them are great but the drummer on this song is out of this world.
One of my all time favourites. The drummer is SICK.
Someone take me back to the 70s when rock was still great.
Brian Downey is a machine
Lynott was one of us... outcasts, outsiders, people who don't have a clue where they belong.. but found happiness with Thin Lizzy's Music! I know because I was one of these people I mentioned above back in the day when I was an adolescent. R.I.P. Phil Lynott.. gone but not forgotten!
They were a smokin' band and their drummer was worthy of worship.
Brian Downey playing what sounds like a machine gun.
.50 cal machine gun.
@@popsfereal3192 Roger's XP8 my friend
Band under rated.
The best thing about this song is the amazing drumming by Brian Downey.
Bad Reputation is ONE BAD ASS SONG!!!
The outro solo is one of the best guitar solos I’ve ever heard in my life.
Lizzy was totally unique and had a sound no one else had. Recognisable in an instant. I love this band so much. Keep on Rocking Philo wherever you may be.
Favourite hard rock band. Best line-up. Coolness at its finest.
Seen lizzy on at least 7 occasions. Magnificent live band .
Absolutley insane drumming by Brian. Brilliant rock at its very best. I was lucky enough to see them twice.
Brian Downey is the real thing!!!! What a masterpiece!!!!!!
Such a cool band, we were floored when Phil died. He was such a cool musician and guy...and Scott Gorham....absolute legend on the guitar...the term 'Guitar God was probably invented for him. Sure looked and sounded it!
All just brilliant, and the drummer, well i rest my case.
Incredible Irish Band, when music was real
That Rogers kit...Beautiful Mr Brian Downey on the drums.
The guitar solo is amazing
I agree. Always liked that classic bluesrock lick and then the "climbing up one" :) That guitar harmony is also an amazing thing to come up with.
Mind blowing
Just wow!
Scott's solos were so tasty during this era of Lizzy.
@@TheHumbuckerboy I would say Scott's solos (sadly there weren't enough of them) were ALWAYS tasty
Brian Downey rocks...awesome drums...Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience) smiles from heaven...
That drummer is amazing he's gifted with talent and skills
WOW!!! What a kickass tune! RIP Phil Lynott.
Greetings from Brazil!
Oooff. Best Lizzy album.
This is one of their best songs! Lizzy was so underrated!
Phil died the year I was born on Till Lindemann's 23rd birthday. He was like the British/Irish version of Jimi Hendrix...rest in power Phil 👑🌹
Not British... irish.. If he was alive he wouldn't like to hear you saying that... Proud irishman
Forgot just how good this is and Gorhams guitar just hauntingly brilliant. We where lucky to have had this great band.
You got a bad reputation
That's the word out on the town
It gives a certain fascination
But it can only bring you down
You better turn yourself around
Turn yourself around
Turn it upside down
Turn yourself around
You had bad breaks, well, that's tough luck
You play too hard, too much rough stuff
You're too sly, so cold
That bad reputation has made you old
Turn yourself around
Turn yourself around
Turn it upside down
Turn yourself around
This was a really good album and a great tour.
My all time lizzy album bad reputation an absolute must for any diehard rock fan .Brian downeys drumming is awesome
Thin Lizzy at the peak of their powers, Gorham, Robertson, Lynott and Downey .... rock and roll! Lizzy were never better than this.
So upset never caught them live and dangerous that's for damn sure rip Philip
This is the tightness every bad should try to achieve....perfection...they were bad asses
This is pure filthy!!!! The drummer is an octopus with drumsticks, these guys blew up the concert hall many times!!! If you don’t love Thin Lizzy, you’re simply a fool….
The original Lizzy never disappointed
I'm just so lucky to have seen them live many times in the 70s
Stunning song from the quintessential Lizzy line-up. The bass and drum groove sparkles throughout. Still my favourite band to this day - ever since I first saw them at the Glasgow Apollo in 1976.
Turned on to Thin lizzy by my uncle, I was hooked from day one !
Lysdexia - Love your comment and your username!
"Here the drummer get wicked." The most lyrical of rock bands, even when in percussive overdrive. Kudos to Mr. Downey here...
Really good drummer
Absolute knockout song, terrific drumming
Scott Gorham is fantastic on this album.
Underrated rock band that deserves to be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Power rock and border line heavy metal
Loud Guitar 🎸 and banging drums 🥁
I'm 52 and remember being at a roller skating rink in 1976 when I was 8, and hearing Jail Break for the first time, and remember, even that young, at how Phil's voice was awesome and totally unique.
the phrasing of Scott is awesome, Brian is nailing it.
still giving me the chills; after all these year´s
My 13yr old self used to bang his head like a good’n to this rockin’ track at the local youth-club disco. What times 😀👍❤️
Never get tired of Robert Downey's drumming.
Oops, err I should say Brian Downey :)
yeh,,,but brian downey was incredible in iron man
Hey folks' Brian Downey is that band.
Wasn't expecting Robbo to be in the video, but glad he is. I finally bought this album two years ago. A triumph!
When they played "tight" they played REALLY "tight"-FANTASTIC!!!
One of the most underrated bands and albums.
Such a superb band . Easily can go against any rock band. And come out on top. P&L to all the lizzy listeners. Rock onnnnn
Any day you get to watch Thin Lizzy live is a good day.
I can listen to that harmonized solo all day long
Great song. Brian Downey excellent on drums.
Brian Downey! What a man!
Crazy drummer/ RIP Phil
You can play air guitar, air bass, and more importantly AIR DRUMS to this track fantastic, so glad to have seen them on this tour 1977 Cardiff capitol theatre. 🎸 R.i.p Phillip Lynott
I personally think that Thin Lizzy is criminally underrated. The amount of bands they have inspired is incredible and they barely get the recognition they deserve
Thin Lizzy's on a whole other level. And the cinematography and editing are on the level Crazy LIttle Thing Called Love by Queen is. Rock roll aesthetic fully realized.
They probably didn't give a damn about the so called "videos". They wanted to play these songs on live gigs :) The true rock and roll era.
but nowhere near as choreographed as Queen. Just flowed naturally.
