BAD:
0:31 - missing items
Lumbar adjustments
Memory seats
A heated steering wheel
Ambient lighting
A power passenger seat
OR rear air vents
1:03 - no hybrid…yet
if you want max fuel economy you have to go to the Accord..at least for now as the Civic is getting a hybrid in 2024
The silver lining is that the Civic here gets 29/37 mpg even without a hybrid so that’s pretty good
1:41 - Expensive
The Honda Civic…and these are hatch prices..Starts just under 25k
This top trim Sport touring starts at just over 31k
Which is a problem because a corolla starts at 21,700 and the XLE hybrid starts at 26,850
That means the most expensive corolla you can buy starts within a grand of the second cheapest Civic…and the Toyota is a hybrid
-
GOOD:
2:21 - The hatch
The cargo space is HUGE
You also get 60/40 folding rear seats for even more space
AND the most brilliant privacy cover ever
2:35 - Transmission choice
In the Civic you get a choice of two transmissions
You can get the CVT which will be a little faster and more fuel efficient
OR you can get the 6 speed manual which is more fun
3:02 - Design
This 11th gen Civic is a much more restrained and subtle design than it was last generation and I personally like it quite a bit
One thing that’s interesting is that the manual car here only comes in 3 colors while the CVT gets a lot more…weird
4:02 - Interior
Here in the Civic you have great leathers with contrasted stitching and piping
In this top Sport Touring trim you can get any color interior you want as long as it’s black
You get a sunroof
You have nice easy to use physical climate controls
I love the full dash honeycomb vent detail with the toggle knobs - weirdly satisfying
And you get nice tech features too like
A totally digital 10 inch cluster on Sport Touring
A 9 inch touchscreen infotainment system
With wireless ACP and AA for Sport Touring
A wireless charger on Sport Touring
You get a reverse camera with cross traffic alert and emergency braking
And you get a pretty nice BOSE audio system
5:14 - The Drive
Long story short, this and the Mazda 3 are the best driving cars in this segment - noticeably better than an Elantra or Corolla
Your LX and Sport trims get the base 2.0 engine
BUT the EX and Sport Touring trims get the same 1.5T engine from the Si
And here it makes 180 hp and 177 lbft
That power goes through an open diff to the front wheels and gets to 60 in 7ish sec with the CVT
Does it feel like a sportscar or hot hatch? No. - but it shouldnt
The Si and Type R still sit above this with more power and LSDs
The steering is good here
The damping strikes a nice balance between spunky and comfy
And it’s just easy to drive and fun
A couple interesting things to note on the manual cars
The clutch is really light as we’ve come to expect
But the shift action is really satisfying
And there are no drive modes on the manual cars, which isn’t a huge surprise
6:38 - rear seats
This is a small car but the rear seats are actually not too bad even for myself at 6’1”
They’re bigger than before
With this sloped hatch roofline it does eat into headroom a little, but without my hat I’m fine
The materials in back aren’t as nice as the front and you only get one pocket and you don’t have air vents
BUT
You get dual USBs, cupholders, and a comfy enough space
Is it perfect back here? No - but it’s perfectly fine for me
-
7:13 - Conclusion - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Special thanks to our Patrons for their support of the channel! Civic or Corolla or Elantra?
These are literally my top 3
Leave out the Hyundai. Garbage cars
This looks great and gets decent gas mileage but a hybrid would probably be over 42mpg so I might wait on the Hybrid. I test drove the Accord Hybrid and it was really impressive
The Civic, yes you’re spending more money than the Corolla, but the Corolla feels extremely cheap on the inside, whereas the Civic has a much more premium feel to it.
I appreciate your review! Thank you!
PLEASE Honda! Give us an SI hatchback! 🤷♂️
Integra.
@@cyborg2048it’s not the same, the Integra is a little more toned down and much more expensive for the manual
@@SeanRosairo yeah but it's the only way to get it on that platform. They seem to be pushing people to Acura if you want any performance just like they dropped the 2.0 accord but it's the base motor in the tlx.
@@cyborg2048 It does kind of make more sense with the Accord though, it was a fun cruiser, and with it being Acura, they can charge a bit more for what the 2.0T and v6 used to offer. The appeal for the SI has always been a sporty commuter. Money being spent on the drivetrain and handling experience rather than leather seats and stuff. If they offered the manual in all the Integra trims it would be a little better, but it's only in the higher trims which is unfortunate.
They never going to do that 😂 if you do a si hatch what’s the reason to buy a type r other than the speed? I like the idea of having the SI sedan and the Type R hatch
Love the straight forward approach to you review.
I was surprised how nice this car drove. I checked the Corolla and Mazda in the sedan models. I got this Civic. After a short amount of time is when i realize it is actually fun to drive. It's not the daily so weekends, holidays and vacation are its main use. Or if the Mrs ever wanted to go outside. It would be there for her. I think that's happened twice in the last 6 months.
I have the 6mt. Fun is right
For those wanting one but shocked by their local dealer marking up the price several thousand dollars if you're willing to travel you can get one for MSRP. Marysville Honda in Ohio is who you need to call.
what a godsent comment, just found the car im looking for 3.5k under my dealerships cost in CO. Thank you
@@kicksmiller That's Awesome, glad to save you any money from a greedy dealer. My local wanted almost 6k over MSRP. My salesman at Marysville was Tony Calendar. He picked me up from the airport, and had all the paperwork ready so I was out of the dealership in under an hour.
Been looking into getting one of these. I had a 2015 Altima that had all sorts of problems. As far as the A/C vents in here and the roominess, how would you describe it? I'm afraid of the vents not being able to move around enough just because I've never seen a design like that.
The vents have plenty of motion, I haven't found myself wanting more. One thing about it is that you don't have flow control for the drivers right and passengers left vent though. I would describe the space as 'enough' at 6'5" if I set the front seat where I like it and then move to the back my legs are touching the seat but not uncomfortably so. I've had my CVT EXL for about 1 month so far and my only annoyance is that when switching gears on the shifter there's a 2 second or so delay before it hooks up so I have to hold the brake a bit longer than I'm used to after switching gears.
Well done! I own that exact trim in Rallye Red! 🚗
Nice!
UK Civics can be had with a panoramic sunroof, heated seats and steering wheel and electric seats with lumbar support…
I love my 22 hatchback. ❤❤Sports Touring. Bout to super in up too😂😂
I know you said you can spend more on a mazda but i believe its worth it with all the extra features. One of them would be the 2.5 liter turbo and awd.
And mazda has a regular automatic.
Just bought one two days ago. I love it
nice!
All features you named as missing are available in European ehev hybrid versions. The problem is those cars are not available.
I ordered mine in November and I'm still waiting for delivery
I ordered it in January, I was told that it will arrive in September
The hybrid is called the eHEV here in asiapac
Civic hatchback is bigger than Corolla hatchback so bigger price makes sense but it all depends on dealer markups. I hate dealer tricks.
Compare the int size of this vs the competition
Markup here in PA is 4k on honda passport, which makes the car 56k, and almost same level as Mercedes GLC300. Honda is insane
With 56k I would try another brand or just order a Tesla online .
I'm about to get mine for $30,000 ... y'all dealerships are scamming you
I’m in Pa and got my Sport sedan for MSRP. No markup.
The markups right now are rough, but Im getting a new 2023 Civic Hatchback LX and trading in my problematic 2014 Nissan Versa. Had to bite the bullet despite prices cause my Nissan's transmission isnt worth putting money into anymore. Price is a bit much but reliability and space is what I wanted! Excited to get my new car!
how much was the price?
Woah I have a 14 verse as well…you must have the cvt. I got tired of stick shift been looking at civic hatch…hope you got yours under 30k…Im getting mine next Memorial Day. Heck we might even be getting the same color too at this rate😂
@@RaptureHead1993 memorial day is already over. So you are waiting a whole year to get your car in May 2024?
@@blasttrash pretty much. I got the versa in 2014. I like to have her for a decade😅
@@blasttrash Yeah, Nissan was the CVT. The cost after markups, taxes and fees was 30k, but I've loved the car so far so I don't think I'll regret it. Hope your Nissan lasts long enough!
Is new 2023 Honda Civic sedan Touring (with 1.5T engine) a good car to buy? How long can it last? What is the whole controversy surrounding the (1.5T) engine all about? Can someone please explain?
In Europe they do have the hybrid so find out if u interested
6 speed manny!
While driving the road noise coming through is crazy. Lil loud for a 2023 car that cost $31K+
Of course, other markets have the features you are missing, like heated steering wheel, pano sunroof, heated rear seats. The stock B-roll footage you showed featured foreign market models with Adaptive Driving Beam headlights, hence the clear corner lights. The taillights do in-fact go all the way across when you brake, and the little dash car facsimile shows that. There is effectively a $455 up-charge for ST manuals, since they only come in premium colors, a ripoff. The manual has Econ mode, just not Sport mode.
does this car have tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjusment?
Yes
is the gas pedal plastic, the same as the new CRV?
The sport touring has metal pedals
homda hybrid is in the EU and it's one of the best power unit i ever drive
Have you driven or done an MPG test with a 2.0L manual?
I have not sorry
I do have the 2020 civic sport touring hatch and i do have rear heated seats and this models are non heat rear seats this is crazy they made less features now also no lumbar seats support and no memory seats so disappointment i miss to see the scapes on the back looks more sport that this models
I have a 2020 sport touring also. I guess they took the rear heated seats out to save money because the new models have the full Honda safety sense
Car is great really is unless you enjoy reliable steering after 10k. Was pretty bummed having a brand new car that couldnt make it past 10k without problems.
At the beginning of the video he says there is no heated steering wheels for the civic but I got my sport touring with a heated steering wheel???
Canada?
Ah yes, I am from Canada. I didn't fully think before commenting.😅@@dwnshft
There is 184 Ps Civic Hybrid in Europe and i ordered one
enjoy it
Absolutely ridiculous that even the high end Accords don’t even get a heated wheel. The CRV doesn’t even get a full digital screen or 12” infotainment. Idk what’s going on at Honda, but they got some work to do to give us our moneys worth. Hopefully things change next year.
This does have a more satisfying sport look versus the Sport Accord though. They kinda made the design minimalistic, which isn’t necessarily bad, but it could’ve popped out mores
In the EU the Civic with Advance pack has it and btw it's also already full hybrid.
Don't know how come you guys need to wait till 2024
@@fwc2047 Me either, considering the green agendas the US is always on about.
@@fwc2047 Honda wants Americans to buy Acuras if you want the best upgrades. I dont think EU sells Acuras.
@@jeretso nope, we don't! We basically have none of the "parallel" brands, besides Lexus I guess, but also there Lexus is quite totally independent from Toyota nowadays
Love civic. But had to get an HRV cuz it was cheaper.
They do offer pana-roof and rear air vents in their over sea Asian market.
I don’t care for the new body style I have a 2017 hatchback and I love that body style. I’m bummed to see they changed it.
Or buy from canada as the civic is fully featured
So, which Trim is this exactly
Sport Touring
Honda is actually selling Civic 2.0 e:HEV for ~$20k in China
My 2024 civic hatchback has all the missing options
1:26
Did they actually announce they’re releasing a Civic hybrid? What about hatch version?
For those of you liking my comment, I looked into it further, and yes, it’s official. A Honda Civic Hybrid + hatchback hybrid is coming soon. It’s already out in Europe.
All hybrid 2023 models are a 1 year wait. I wouldnt hold my breath on getting a 2024 within 2 year prolly.
Acura sedans don’t have pano roofs either 💀 gotta go to the SUV’s for that unfortunately
tlx does, doesnt it?
@@dwnshft no just a standard sunroof. It’s dumb lol
I don’t like the black headliner + the small sun roof. Makes the car look too dark
What color is that?
Bump
Sonic Grey Pearl
Add malfunctioning brakes today to the list of things not to like about it.
There is a Civic hybrid with a glass panoramic roof, but it's in Europe 😀
Comparing the Toyota Corolla (especially the hybrid) to the civic is like comparing apples to oranges!
Honda Civic Hybrid exists - in Europe, and it's stunning!
There are no drive modes on a manual car because you control the car. You wanted eco= you shift faster/earlier so u don't Rev the motor and save gas. You wanted sport = you shift till it hits 7rpm and that would make it "sport" for you since it's funner and more existing.
There actually are drive modes on manual cars. To adjust steering feel, adjust dampers on some cars, and more. It doesn’t just come down to throttle response
@juelz4516 ok but that's on super expensive cars.
@@pepinocabron not really, I think the si and the type r come with drive modes
The type r is expensive but the si it’s super affordable
Yeah but good luck finding an manual,....in the color you wanted,...."AND",...... without an major markup from an dealer.
Correct that some amenities are not there, like lumbar support, heated steering wheel, ventilated seats, and memory seats. Also, no passenger-side powered seats or fold-in door side mirrors. Civic cabin noise is loud, however, about 5 decibels lower in the Touring. In many vehicles, you are no longer able to lock the glove box. Hate Hybrids and EVs ...so no biggie.
The famous past issue with the 1.5L Turbo Earths Dream engine was Oil Dilution, almost gone but still prone. Not many people like CVT's but with Honda, it is the norm and they have improved over the years. Overall, the Civic Touring is fantastic. Want something sportier get the Civic Type R.
Why don't they release this in India .___.
manual transmission all the way. Screw automatic.
Honda seems not to want to actually sell cars.
Your 3 worst things aren't bad things to me.
The way scummy-AF dealers are marking up these cars is honestly criminal. 25k MSRP, but dealers wanna start at 32k+ wtf?
this one carried a 7k markup
Sad thing is this will cause a dent in Honda's reputation, but markups is actually the dealer's fault because dealers can do whatever they want regardless of what Honda says. Dealers are profiting off of markups and Honda isn't
Forgot to tell people that Civic requires premium fuel. I think Honda believes we're all rich and don't care about fuel costs yet we'd still want to buy a Civic.
Not true, per the manual, models with capless fuel filter uses 87 octane. If stick shift or with fuel with cap, then 91 or higher
Ditto. They DO NOT require high grade fuel. 87 regular is fine
Honeycomb dash and vent knobs make it look ridiculous and cheap.
Disagree, I think it looks sleek & modern.
@@dennisdmenace6249 Yeah good luck with the cvt transmission! You should have a gone with the Mazda line!
@discoveryman59 I didn't buy one, yet. But, I do have a 2022 Insight (cvt) I got in Sept, 2021. The cvt has been great... and I average 50+ mpg!
