We'd like to dedicate this video to our good friend Henry, the owner of this pristine example. He was involved in a fatal rollover accident early morning on August 6th, 2016, RIP our friend...
An iconic roadster complete with a sleek timeless design, screaming VTEC engine, and an F1 overall driving feel make the 2004 S2000 an instant classic car. With used car prices only appreciating for clean, low mileage examples like this one. Those of you looking for a sports car with pure visceral thrills should snatch one up while you can. Only buyers seeking a more pleasant daily driver will find its competitors more appealing. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I disagree, that interior is still better than most.
Did you buy the owner a new clutch too?
This car has a clutch delay valve that won't allow you to dump the clutch.
LMAO!
@@thaik56 not true. Coming from an ap2 owner.
okay okayokay he is right though...
okay okayokay coming from a fellow AP2 owner. The clutch delay valve sucks. Once you learn to drive around it
i'm picking up an 08 with 24k miles on it next week. i'm so friggin' stoked!
humble rc did you get it?
Im looking for one myself, with that low of miles what did you pay for it before taxes??
People need to stop comparing these to miatas. I have an 04 s2000 and a 94 Miata. They are both very very different cars and can be enjoyed in their own right. Miata is more casual and more fun to drive slowly. S2000 is more on edge all the time but very satisfying to drive aggressively.
I just bought an '03 S2K, but had a 2004 Miata a couple years back. Totally agree with you!
They were aimed at entirely different markets too. The Miata is classic roadster while the s2000 is actualy a full on sports car
jesus man. you slipped the clutch through every gear..
Either that or the CDV (Clutch Delay Valve) was engaging because he was shifting to fast. Takes a little while to learn how to drive this car.
Clutch delay valve. Takes practice. Have to have a quick foot.
I thought it was just me that noticed that.
Christian i thought it sounded like he engages the clutch before letting off the throttle, but i could be wrong.
humble rc you just described slipping a clutch
"Don't even bother if you can't drive stick" seems like he's not too good at it himself...
Not good? He sucked! That was some of the worst shifting I've ever witnessed. What a putz!
That grind on that first pull hurt my soul lol
Yeah pretty bad. I've done manual since 15 for 10 years before getting tired and moving to an auto. I can shift any manual without thag painful grind. I kinda laugh off people who have nice cars with manuals but when they speed I hear that grind lol.
Awesome review. You do the best car reviews, hands down.
My 2002 S2000, is only bad on gas when I drive it insanely. Drive it as you would an Accord or Civic and you'll find combined City/Hwy you'll average about 30 mpg.
30? Really...I had 2 and averaged about 22...
No way you're averaging 30mpg. I own one too.
thanks man this really opened my eyes to something I've overlooked...
thelocustemperor same
can you please review 1992 Geo Metro? I'd like to know if it has enough headroom for a sombrero
I had an AP2 for 7 years and sold it and bought a 911. The Porsche is great but I still miss the S2000.
I bought mine new back in 2005 and remember people questioning my sanity since I could have got something with a BMW badge on it for that kind money. I enjoyed every mile in it.
I traded it in for a 997.2 Carrera S which by any objective measure is the better car but some things you just can't quantify. The S2000 still sticks in my mind as something special to drive, but I do think it's a very niche car, it's not for everyone.
Mike F why? They are fairly different cars tbh. Unless you are talking aircooled Porsche’s from well before the s2k time, 911s are pretty well luxury sports cars that do give up some of the actual performance for a touring focus
Asian dude in an s2000 I bet he has more than 100 grand under the hood of that thing
D Hb23 it's not even his
Jay Bosslingo wtf ur stupid
Jay Bosslingo u prolly liked ur own comment cuz ur weird
Alex Neil he mad a fast & furious reference lil man, go take a nap
Jay Bosslingo lol eff u
i hope honda brings it back, even though i could barely fit in one of these (at 6'3+) i always liked seeing them more than miatas.
I fit in it I'm 6.4 1/2
sure you fit in it, but can you actually put your head below the windshield lol, i sure as hell could not
+justin bouche head side ways lol
+ThatOneKid more like head at a 90 degree angle lookin like you possessed
Hey it works lol
The fact that these things rev to 8,200rpm is insane!
1999-2003 Models revved to 9,000+ RPM :D
NickLAUZ95 so crazy!
That's Honda engineering for ya ;)
NickLAUZ95 they make great cars! I have a subaru though haha
Bwraaaaaaa, *pshshhhh*, Bwraaaaaaaaa... That's what always pops into my mind when I hear the word Subaru ;)
all Honda performance are revers, that what makes a sports car feel special.
agreed
all Honda performance cars are awsome.
Vanneker not anymore..
Love hearing that old Chime in the older Hondas
I really love it ~~ my mom had a 2005 Honda Civic with this chime and I miss that chime so much.
S2K = Best there is, Best there was, and the Best there ever will be.
Grace JD agreed
I mean, except all those cars that are functionally better than it....
@@eskamobob8662 name one
@@z32luvr functionaly better than s2k? Litteraly a miata. Better at limit handling, slightly higher total grip, more interior space, significantlt lighter and just as good of a shifter. It will loose to an s2k on a more open track, but a z06 will trounce and s2k on an open track and a miata will walk away on a super technical one. The s2k is notable for its engine (a truly amazing one tbf), but just like a ferrari pre 2010 there are tons of cars that are functionaly better if you ignore the romance
@@eskamobob8662 this is somewhat true but the S2000 feels so much more special.... As a daily, Th the ND2, but as a weekender the S2000 is so much more raw and engaging, esp AP1
so many Nissan fanboys are getting mad because Honda has made a great car.
Really enjoyed this! Hope you continue doing "older" car vids.
It's really unfortunate that Honda discontinued this car. I seriously hope the rumors are true and that they do bring back the S2000! Every single Honda fanboy would lose it. Myself included.
I hope that Honda does bring back the S2000 because it would really be amazing to see the company put a modernized spin on the car, while making it fiercely competitive at the same time.
- Michael
+Nexccelerator same here
-NOFATCHICK1
I hope new s2000 to compete with frs/brz
It will flop because Mazda and bmw have a hold on that long hood convertible sports car market.
there are rumors of Honda bringing the s2000 back late 2017
First I would like to say I am sorry for Henry. Thank you for the review. My 02 AP1 in the pic is a very nice car. Henry did a great job! The car is a beast. I have really had some spirited runs in it. Tested it fully!!!! A great car to own!
Your reviews are stellar. Friggin
It's the most fun car I have ever owned! I will never sell mine! Nice review, now you have to review an AP1!!
Love my 06, it's my daily and at times it feels outdated (I wouldnt mind a little more tech) and at times I wish it had more tq, but really the raw feeling you get; it's unreal. Own one of these and driving another car, everything feels muted and almost boring even if it's engineered to be a "sports car". Love the s2k.
Very nice review, i have a '03 with just passed 60 k . I love it and will never sell it.I drive it as a daily driver in the summer and i'm 6'2. And after 13 years NOTHING has ever broken. All stock, except tires and oil it's original.
One of the last great cars, before Honda lost its mojo.
I don’t even think it was Honda, but instead basically all JDM companies after the early 2000s. Late 90s was basically the JDM road car equivalent of group B. Truly a hay day for the industry
Yeah 1990s to 2000s was the glory days of Honda when they were producing some amazing cars. I mean you had the S2000, the NSX, the Prelude, and their engine technology back then was considered stellar with those high revving VTEC motors~
Excellent Review Sofyan! It's awesome that you were able to find a rare S2000 that's very clean and has relatively low mileage for it's age. I hope that Honda does revive this vehicle too because it would really be amazing to see the company put a modernized spin on the car, while making it fiercely competitive at the same time.
In addition, are you also hoping that Honda revives the S2000 in the future (Congrats On Reaching 200K Subs BTW)?
- Michael
We always have a special place in our hearts for another fun, rear drive roadster. Our internal sources at Honda cannot confirm or deny a successor is being worked on but we hope that Honda makes the next one smaller and lighter than this generation. Turbocharged power is likely and we think Honda won't disappoint but only time will tell :)
i love watching stock s2000 reviews. haters can say the car is slow, torqueless, ricer, etc etc...you can say whatever you want, BUT it never fails to put a smile on the driver's face.
LoL that vtec kicking in!!! love your videos bro!
great review. I have owned civic type r, and always wanted to have s2000. wonderful car!
I have just started watching his reviews he seems very knowledgable
you make Great videos keep up the good Work!
great reviews, very thorough!!!!! thanks
I miss my AP2 S2K :(
I do not miss that Clutch Delay Valve though...
I will say that the flip side is I don't have to worry about blowing my diff when I launch it 300 times a year for Autocross haha.
ge8basefan I know what you mean. Somewhere on my channel I'm ripping my old AP2 around the autocross track.
Removed it. Much better.
Sonic_1000 I was going to just remove it but I broke the Slave cylinder getting it off anyway so I swapped it with an AP1 Slave cyl from that junkyard dog online car parts broker and it did the job.
Holy smokes. This car is CLEAN! Props to the owner.
Rio '05 here, but with nearly 150k more miles (bought in '05). Awesome vid, he had a very clean example
About time u did a s2k review
We just flew out of state to grab a yellow ap2 like this with low mileage. Man I love how it drives and was it a journey. Shout out to Superior Honda in New Orleans!
The nicest S2000 interior with this example no doubt. Love the sound. I would love to see a modern day version of this car by Honda.
Great review. The S2000 is truly a unique car to drive.
What fine piece of machinery! Was my dream car in college
great review man gonna get one now cheers m8
Great video! An E39 M5 review would be amazing. One of the greatest cars Bmw ever produced.
This videos 7 yrs old now and S2000's selling for 30k and 40k now..damn....good ones 50k - 60k.
Really beautiful car
Dude you are a great reviewer!
Love my S2K! Sold my firs one, an 04 and missed it ever since. Picked up an 07 Berlina with only 17k for 24 grande. Have 27k on it now and could sell for the same if not more! Don’t ever plan to let her go though 😁
I fucking love my s2000. Truly timeless car.
I had an 05. It was a great car, however, it had a few issues. This car was very loud on the highway. You could not have a conversation with your passenger. The second thing I found was that the car was a little too loose at the rear end. I prefer my current Porsche Boxster S 6 speed over the S2000. Would I bye one again, yes, however, there would still be the issues. Thanks for your excellent video and to Henry for the use of his car.
That's a gorgeous example!
Now the owner have this car has sadly passed, and the car is sadly not drive able anymore.
Amazing how you managed to find a clean S2K with low mileage man. Love these older car reviews. Maybe one day you'll come across a Supra
Modified Supra can have over 1000hp but my friends told me the handling is bad
Supras handle ok, people just don't realize how big and heavy they are.
I see low mileage s2k's for sale here all the time
@@TylerMckissack not anymore
Nice comprehensive review !
love your reviews so much, oh yeah this car is totally you. Thanks.
Timeless body lines and headlights. Still looks up to date with cars today for a 16 yr old car. Ive been driving mine since 2007 and love it. I get 25mpg to 27mpg driving it hard too.
Good to hear!! Ive always wanted one.
I get 16-19 mpg driving hard in city with AC on. My s sucks on mpg
THAT tipical Vtec laugh!!!! On every acceleration the sound of this engine gaved him a laugh. That is what makes hondas so special.
when you hit redline in my 08 the whole rev bar blinks like you won the lottery and the CRs had an actual shift light but if you want to keep it in VTEC you have to shift at redline or it will fall off VTEC
you grinded 2nd gear on your first pull, come on man
I would like to see you do a video on the S2000 CR if you can find one.
As a current ND owner who owned an s2k before, I can definitely tell you this car is much more focused sports car, but the ND is more comfortable and much quieter with top up.
Both great cars. Dear Honda if you ever make a new one, please keep the original formula.
I am Italian and here in Italy this car is very rare. Anyway nice review.
What song did you use for the intro?
Awesome review!
That poor clutch.....
Rip clutch gearbox and their whole families. My sincere condolences.
finally you reviewed it ,now if you can get a mint prelude to review.
You are really hard on the vehicles - I would never let you touch my car!
It's meant to be driven this way 🙄
I'm gonna buy one of these within a year and a half. I'm going to reply to this comment and upload a video to youtube when I do. Gotta set goals.
InlineSix Nice! Will wait until you reply, and I will congratulate you!
InlineSix will wait don't forget!
InlineSix good luck !
You got one year left.
same here... started to save money for one!
Man these cars will always look good to me and the high revs make it even better can you review a 08+Nissan Titan Or GMC Sierra Denali
easily best review of sofyan's ever
Sofyan, did that car have more than a 100 grand underneath the hood??
nice video man!
I love my 00 S2000, it's incredible
Watching this video in 2023. May your friend rest in peace.
Early 2000s Audi TT MK1 also has a metal flip panel hiding the radio head unit. Was it a roadster trend back in the day?
Still the best Japanese roadster. My 04 is amazing.
one of the best roadstars ever made, not only Japanese
Wish I could find one for a reasonable price.
Thank Thank you thanks YOu thank :) ... VA has some of the nices roads and part of the BRP which was cool going to and from work however that 4.5 drive bout killed me and pulling a 10 hour sift with no sleep :( .. you the man bro :)
Can you do a review of the MR2 Mk3 please, would be great to see how it compares to the S2000.
I've own many sport cars including a ISF, C6 Corvette, '13 Boss 302, Mazdaspeed3, tuned Mk7 GTI, turbocharged SC300, MR2 turbo. AW11, and now a '18 Camaro ZL1 and I still miss my AP1 S2000. Maybe someday I can pick up a AP2 S2000 if Honda doesn't bring a S2000 successor.
Did you ever create a How To Drive Stick video?
Do you own a 2016 Miata now? Any plan for a long-term ownership review?
Will be working on that video next, expect to see it up very soon. We've had the car for nearly a year now.
Redline Reviews Is it serve as your personal DD? I'm asking because you use the word "we"
Yeah he owns the 2016 model. Although when the 2017 RF was shown, he took a liking to that too
Will you ever be reviewing the NSX?
Good review Sounded like you were slipping the clutch there on your launches.
I'd love to find a clean S2k like that one.... been looking at 2006+ models and found a couple really low mile ones for high 30's!
If you pay up for a nice one and take care of it, future depreciation should be minimal though.
JosephM1750 S2K will appreciate with time as long as it's clean
when they bring the new one. please fix the issue with the top ripping w normal use
What's the point in having a push button if you still have to turn the key. Too much time wasted there.
Raymond Adams If you STALL when racing, just push the button, it's a race car buddy, EVERYTHING is had is for a purpose even if you don't get why, now other cars have alot of unnecessary garbage, not the Honda S2K, it has everything it needs and nothing it doesn't...the main reason it's a special car.
It was an homage to Honda’s F1 racing heritage. Designed to mimic starting an F1
Lol, no. The button wasn’t because it was a race car for the road but instead just stylistic homage.
nice review bro...if u ever wanna do an 09 mazda rx8, u can use mine...I live in NY
These things are so damn rare, but I happened to finally spot one right next to me at a red light. Hopefully, the successor will have a screaming engine similar to this.
How is the forte GT the same weight as this car?
I really wish Honda makes S2000 again. Hopefully keeps high revving VTEC and 6 Spd with updated designs.
Omg , your hands movements are reflected on the rear windshield @4:20s 😬😬,you scared the hell out of me , I thought someone stuck in the trunk😂😂
Beautiful car!
Should I get an ap1 s2000 or a 2014 Nissan 370Z? Help me decide!!!
I have a 02 AP1 s2000. If you're looking into getting one, me me tell you.........
GET IT. GET IT NOW AND YOU WONT REGRET IT GET ITTTTT. There are VERY few things in this world that will put a bigger smile on your face than than this gem. Bad day? Floor it through curvy roads as you begin to giggle... Which turns into an uncontrollable laugh as you go through 35mph turns going 75.
GET ONE
I have a 2005, exactly the same color (Rio Yellow), with 13,000 miles on it (it is a garage queen).
wow very nice and I heard is rear wheel drive too. very rare on a Honda
Just picked up an 08 best car I've ever owned!
how much did you pay? If you don't mind me asking ofcourse.
+NOFATCHICK1 What a polite bitch you are.
+NOFATCHICK1 only had 44k miles I got it out the door for just under 30k
Great Review Of 2004 Honda S2000. 😁
A few years ago when I was in high school, me and my grandma only had one car and a couple of times I needed my own car to get around for school because ours would be in the shop. My neighbor had a 1998 honda CRV and they let me borrow it when I needed it. I loved that car and the chime made me a little sad because their idiot grandson crashed it and now it just sits in their driveway. I love old hondas.
I'd so buy the successor if it ever comes out.
about time you did a older car!!
Its not really old.
+_Kng 14 well i know that lol but its been a while since he reviewed a car as old as this one
my thoughts exactly
Emergex yea its a nice change up, he should get more jdms
I like the older car reviews more than the new ones, wish he could review a mk3 golf with the slow engine
can you review a 2001 integra gsr or type r?
