A very unique drill....been using festool since 2000...amazing tools...the drill dust extractor is a must have for your health and safety and keeping areas clean in finished areas etc.

Thanks Peter. Excellent informative video as always! Got the little beauty today and indeed you can use the 18V battery e.g. with the Carvex 420 15V version, very handy. It won't fit and work on the cordless drill T15+3 though.
Hi David, I am so jealous - the one that I have has to go back to Festool very soon. The shock absorber system is really amazing. I have arthritic wrists and knuckles and I would normally ache quite a bit after using a hammer drill - no problem at all with this beauty. I would think that would put it high on the shopping list for companies that supply tools to their workforce - might even lower their insurance a bit. Peter
That vacuum attachment was my first Festool purchase - it's better that the competition and cheaper in many cases. Getting into Festool thus only cost me a whopping € 17,73 over here in Austria. Everyone is impressed when your site is clean and efficient. However... Any suggestions for handling bits too large for this one? I have considered buying a second and putting in a larger metal throat. In summary - everyone making holes in walls needs to consider this tool!
Hi Benjamin, A very long time ago (way before I discovered Festool) I had to drill about 20 1" holes inside a house. I found an old tin can and made an opening at the other end to give safe clearance for the drill bit. I made a hole in the side for a vacuum hose. It worked quite well but I had to start each hole first without it as it was difficult to start a hole in the right place otherwise. You also need to watch the sharp edges of the can. If I were to make something like this again I would use some plastic rain water pipe and not a tin can. Peter

New Brit Workshop I got the Festool PDC18 at last week. Its PERFECT !! And I also want to buy one more hammer drill. Actually Festool products are really amazing. But I need to compare with others because its not cheap : )
Good review. I don't use an SDS drill enough to warrant spending Festool money but I've got to have one of those vacuum dust collector things, what are they calling it? I can't see it on D&M or Toolfest's web sites.

Hi Peter, can the PDC combi drill do the same job as the BHC? Is the shock absorber the only difference when it comes to drilling into masonry. Also, got some parf dogs this week. Love them. Great job
***** Hi Dean, The PDC is what we normally call a "Combi" drill as it can do everything - normal drilling, percussion drilling (brick etc) and also be used as a screwdriver (it has both speed and torque control). The BHC is very much the brick and concrete machine and although it could be used for other tasks it is not, in my mind, ideal as a screwdriver or normal drill. It does not have a slipping clutch or torque control. Many thanks for buying the Parf Dogs - they have loads of different uses apart from setting up accurate saw cuts. Cheers. Peter
Thanks Peter. So basically, the PDC can handle 10 Newton block work but not suitable for concrete which is typically 35N. But it being festool, I had to ask the question.
Hi Steven, No, it is hammer with rotation or rotation only. There is no hammer only. I can only guess (based on my experience with a mains powered industrial Bosch hammer drill) is that it would be too much for a battery operated machine. Peter

***** You could use the PDC for concrete but with smaller bits but, yes you are right, the BHC is the tool for that sort of tough work. Peter

NEVER let go of the handle when drilling.
It's a surefire way to get tendon injury, if the bit locks up.
