The last time I was at York station was on a Wheelskate job a few years ago. All the Yellow Cowans & Sheldon Rail Cranes have now been withdrawn from service.
Yes interesting project Is remodeling of Colton North Junction on UP Main Graham as u slew up line further over on new curve reduce friction through points. When coming north 2013-2018 I always woke up after falling asleep on train after KGX as passed through points at 125mph heading to York.
Picked a good night for it! I'm going to walk home tomorrow over the freight avoiding line and see if I can see what's been going on. I doubt it, because it'll be pitch black by then!
Saw lots of movements but nowt got bigger or smaller on those sidings. Keen rail watcher .but where we're tracks etc removed from and where did they go to and what got done... Confused but entertained rail watcher.....
I'm going to walk home tomorrow and see if I can see what's been done. There's a whole lot of work going in the middle of the main line and the freight avoiding line, called York Central, work began in earnest earlier this year.
That is a serious piece of kit ,and well done to the orange army for working in such wretched conditions
I love how the crane dismantles at the end, the way the counterweight slides off is great.
WOW, that's definitely some interesting action at York, don't often see many cranes of that size on the UK rail anymore. 👍
Best video Railcam have done especially with the snow.
Great work guys.

Like how the snow melted on the section of track where the locomotive was parked.
