MQ-9 REAPER: The Most Dangerous Military Drone on Earth
Vložit
- čas přidán 30. 05. 2022
- The Air Force MQ-9 REAPER drone will live to fight another day, or thousands of days, due to a clear service plan to employ the platform for at least the next fifteen years. The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper (sometimes called PREDATOR B) is an unmanned aerial vehicle capable of remotely controlled or autonomous flight operations developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems primarily for the United States Air Force.

The MQ-9 Reaper is the primary offensive strike unmanned aerial vehicle for the U.S. Air Force. it provides a unique capability to perform strike, coordination, and reconnaissance against high-value, fleeting, and time-sensitive targets.
I think it is completely the opposite: it's way too slow and vulnerable to fly against super sonic & agile fighter jets & major radar sites (which has much faster & more powerful defensive missiles than the smaller one carried by fighter jets) ...
But two of these things, with high resolution cameras --- ultra cheap killer & surveillance machines, compared to the $100M to $130M F-2=35 B and C they're protecting ---- could float nicely above US Navy battle groups and US ships 24/7, in a 50-100 mile radius concentric circles & it'd be next to impossible for enemies to stealthily fly past them on their way to bombing aircraft carriers and the billion dollar jets parked on them. They basically serve as "trigger wires."
If they fly 50 - 100 miles in radius of concentric circles, & 50,000 feet up, they'd see hundreds of miles into the horizon, 360. Protecting a battle group of around $25B worth of weapons systems with two dirt cheap unmanned killer drones that could do 23 hours of flight with full weapons load... nothing beats it!
@@kiabtoomlauj6249 so basically what the dude said. It is the primary unmanned aerial vehicle of the US, which has unique capabilities. I don't know how you think it is (completely?) the opposite, or how you think it isn't unmanned, or deployable in situations where other equipment would do a better (or more efficient) job.
Tested in combat against camels, and madmax level toyotas. The airdefense of afgan cavemans got zero chance against them
It's $300k worth of remote control junk with a $30mil price tag

That landing... so buttery.
"Wow, the engineering here is simply stunning!"
They should put 360 degree cameras on one drone so it can provide real time GPS coordinates for 10 targets at once. Then use guided MRLS and longer range HIMARS to take out the targets 10 at a time. Multiply that by 100 surveillance drones across the battle space and you take out 1,000 light and heavy military targets in a matter of minutes.

I've been in the room at Creech AFB where the drones are operated from. I was delivering components from a crashed unit to them and I was gawking at the drones sitting in the hanger while someone was doing the paperwork. @@corbeau-_- ay sorry boys I have a shitty understanding of sarcasm and jokes especially over text. 😅
I'm sure this has been discussed, but watching this video makes me wonder if there might not be a transition to pilotless military aircraft. The weight saved by eliminating what is required for an aviator/pilot could, instead, be used for additional defensive or offensive equipment.
Plus life support systems and all that planes need. Pilotless aircraft definitely seem the way, mass producing cheap ones and have a bunch of people controlling them from safety
actually they're already testing it, major problem with it is latency issues. If I remember correctly once a drone is deployed it can have a 5 second delay between what the drone is seeing and what you're seeing. 5 seconds would mean the death of the plane if it was in a dog fight or dodging an S-400 missile.
@@edsherwook5196yep. Except for more sophisticated ones

Well, there is no way to make a drone right now that could have survived that intact.
@@dinho890ithat drone would have fucked that jet, but they choose not to because unlike Ivan, Americans have at least some brain
@Umu-San yup. People also don't seem to realize that the drone probably didn't have weapons. Plus if it fired weapons at the jet, then it's an act of war
@BFB MTB let's also set that the Reaper is essentially a tactical bomber and surveillance, propeller drone. It isn't intended to kill jets. It would be against U.S. Air superioridity doctrine to begin with.
I think the problem with the Reaper is what to do when it is being attacked.
he was target misses for that

LOL literally got downed by su 27 by simply pissing oil at it LMAO
Because the drone operator deliberately choose not to defend it

2. It was struck by the jet, damaging the propeller.

Will it need break-cables for landing on the carrier decks, when it returns ?
Depends on its stall speed. If it can land slow, no need.

Possibly as it does have a cable hook installed on that version. I believe it might the rod on the back of the bottom tail fin you can see at 4:09
I thought STOL meant short take off and landing. That’s a good question about the landing arrest wires. I assumed they could also short land without assistance.

MQ-9 Reaper launching from ships is interesting, but there was no mention of landing on a ship.
Yeah there was. It even showed an animation of it. Then discussed it a lot later. Did you watch the whole video? Short take of and landing. It’s in the STOL acronyms. Wouldn’t be hard to land on a Wasp Class at all without a tail hook if full stovl as they say.
