- This is quite possibly the most unique driver I've owned to date! It is 6 5" cones driven by two opposing motors and coils. The goal or claim was to get the output of 2 10" drivers in a compact package. It was a bit of a fail for a number of reasons so these are kinda hard to find. Either way, it's another unique driver for the collection!
This driver was used in the Alpine PLT-5 powered car subwoofer. The PLV-7 used the bigger/bigget LAT driver: the LAT-700. The smallest of the bunch was the LAT-250
NOTE: This driver was heavily underpowered. My amp is a literal pile of garbage. Any odd noises were from the amp/result of minor clipping.
Also, the song at 4:26 is Basstronics-The Feeling of Bass. Forgot to put that in the video.

What an insane looking and sounding driver! So nice to see you back regularly on CZcams
Thats an absolutely fascinating driver
Dayumm this is crazy driver, i hope i have this kind of subwoofer
Very rare subwoofer ❤
Insane that they managed to link those cones together without excess friction, really ingenious design on the end of Tymphany!
It really is. I found out Richard Little actually designed the original LAT-250. But its odd. The First cone is pushed the coil behind it. Then the two of the four rods go through the next cone to the cone behind it where they are glued. Super complex
Just saw one of these listed for $100 blown. Thanks for doing this video. I'd never seen this driver before.
Nice to see you back on yt regularly! This driver is definitely the weirdest one.
Sounds super clean
What a WEEEIRD Speaker, wow. Nice
Get this mounted to a H frame open baffle. You will hear a massive improvement.
