@martanek_9749 it's called qualified immunity and it's abused. Qualified immunity is supposed to be for hostage situations or School shooters so that the police can ensure the safety of the public by breaking the law and shooting somebody. It isn't supposed to be used whenever they feel unsafe. There is supposed to be an imminent threat in order to use it but like everything else they use language to extend their power to use it at will in any situation
What you need to understand is any law that exists can be manipulated because they use very broad terms when writing these laws
Ryan Whitaker's story. The shooter faced a suspension and both cops are on the force. The city settled with a $3 million dollar settlement for the family not pursuing charges against the shooter. The girlfriend got a separate settlement in April 2023.
