The story is based on an episode from Mahabharata. During Swarga Aarohana parva, when all of his brothers and Draupadi fail to make it to the top of the mountain, only Dharmaraja would make at along with a dog. When he is informed that only he would be granted entry to the heaven, Dharmaraja/ Yudhishthira refuses to let go of his dog no matter what. It is reflected in the bond between the man and his pet. Hence the name 'Dharma' of the protagonist in the movie.

i had met Rakshit Shetty before he turned famous in 2015, Bangalore. Believe it or not he used to stay right next to my house in a rented 1 bhk home. I took a pic with him right in front of my house ,he gladly took a selfie with me. No ego, no media, nothing. He has really come a long way since then.

The life of stray dogs shown through Charlie is so emotional. Feels so bad seeing what scenarios they have to go through (searching for waste food in the dustbin, getting hit by vehicles, threatened by people) every day.
The love at first sight kind of look Charlie gives when she sees Dharma after the orchestra fight is too cute to handle. 😍😘❤️.
I'm still crying at home every day when I remember the climax at any time. Can't control my tears even after days.

What I like about this movie is it subtly drives a strong message about insensitivity towards animals, illegal dog breeding n problems come with it, adopting stray dogs, more importantly a dog is a companion than a pet just to follow commands and act cute. Great work from Kiranraj and Rakshit 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 truly emotional and an eye opener

My dog had always had some or the other health issue since his childhood because of the accident and several genetic issues..
The moment I saw Charlie , it took me back.. I just couldn't handle the memories.. by the end, my eyes were puffed up and red ...

A retelling of an ancient tale in the modern era. I suspected it when I saw the trailer and the army officer mentioned The Tale of Dharmaraj in Kaliyuga.
I don't have a pet dog, but I am taking care of 8 street dogs and 2 feral cats, one of whom is pregnant. I love them all.
    Spoiler...
Also, the road trip isn't just for Charlie, but for Dharma as well. A normal person would have ordered a shit ton of ice for Charlie. Others would have tried their luck at snow cities. But Dharma chose to take her to the Himalayas in a desperate attempt to heal her. He was a depressed man with no pupose in life and prone to dissociation. And when he finally found a modicum of happiness he was losing it all over again. Charlie needed this trip to make the most of her short life and he needed it to heal and move on from his trauma. And Charlie gives him another reason to live at the end, a new beginning for Dharma and a loving family for her pup after her death.
I'll go cry in my dark and dreary alone corner now.

Back when i was a student and lived on campus i had adopted 8 street dogs. The mother had died a while back, but the babies were so precious. But they all started getting Ill. I begged and begged my campus to let me out so i can take them to the vet, hell my entire batch was in pressuring the management. But they refused us, saying they were street dogs and euthanizing them would be a mercy and taking care of them wasn't theirs or my responsibility. We tried so hard to even try and get a vet to come, but each one refused to come as the campus was 2 hours from the city and basically too far for them to travel to save a few Street dogs. The poor souls died one after the other in my arms as i watched helplessly. This movie brought back so many memories of those babies. I wish I could've saved them I went to see this movie with my family and by half of the runtime my entire family was sobbing.y dad had 4 dogs that lived their full lives that he had to bid goodbye at the end of it. This movie pierces the soul and brings out emotions you have locked away. I hope everyone gets to see this movie regardless of owning a pet or not. The first half was really engaging and yeah, the second half seemed to be dragging and has scenes that arent required.

Yes, definitely felt the second half could have been tighter! If they chopped off 15-20 minutes,it would have been such a seemless ride. You can say the same for many of Rakshit's ventures!

Even though I never owned a pet in my life still the last part of the movie made me cry like a baby. Especially the scene where Dharma asks Charlie how much she (Charlie is a female 🐕 in the movie.) loves him and Dharma saying that he loves Charlie and he does not wants to alone once again. I started crying because there's only one thing which scares me the most and that is being lonely.

I am not a pet owner and used to be scared of dogs but man, this movie made me shed tears. And this is the first time I cried while watching a movie.

Watched the movie twice.. even the second time around, felt the same emotional rollercoaster as the first. And like Anmol mentioned, if you are a pet parent yourself boy this movie will just not leave you for a long time..

Watched this beautiful Kannada movie yesterday with my daughter. Wow !! What a masterpiece. If this movie doesn’t get many awards, then it’s a shame for all movie lovers.
Charlie can act - probably better than some human actors 😄! Adorable.
Dharma (Rakshith) - one thing strikes me the most is “he doesn’t overact”, which is very rare among Indian actors. His acting, or more appropriately facial expressions and body language is just right.
Co-stars - Everyone from the little girl, old couple, female lead, arak Shetty and the rest have made the difference- very well contributed.
Music, direction, storyline, cinematography etc. - outstanding
KANNADA cinema is going places, sky is the limit, more creative people will start believing, more such movies will come! When they do count me in to watch them in a theater first week. Thank you Charlie 777 team 🙏

This is such an emotional masterpiece. I cried after watching the trailer and I cried multiple times during the movie the only difference is after watching the trailer I went straight to hug my fury friend but after the movie I could only missed her as I live in hostel but now I can't wait to see her. I just want to watch this movie again this time with her❤️ waiting for OTT release.
PS - Every pet owner should watch this even though it's an emotional movie but it's worth watching. And who doesn't love a dog film right🤷

Never been a dog lover. But this movie really made me very emotional. I tried several times. Great Kannada movie. India needs to produce more such unconventional movies.

Hey Jammy , I am also a pawrent and I cried a lot watching this movie, literally was sobbing and was missing one of my stray dog.
But this movie made such a great impact on me, even while watching your video I was crying.

One of the best movies I have watched with no action and no romantic sub plot. I had a Labrador when was a kid and he died. This is the only movie I can relate to for the bond I had with him ❤️ . I realized my mistake of shopping for a dog. I will adopt indie in future. Beautiful movie. Please watch it.
