We're obviously aware of and deeply concerned about the global pandemic, and are choosing carefully what to publish as forms of escapism and entertainment to help ease thoughts of anxiety, and provide an alternative from the news. We are obviously NOT encouraging anyone to travel now or discouraging social distancing. Ready to imagine your first trip in a new world?

Romania is still a 'hidden gem' compared to most countries with so much natural and historical beauty in Europe. Amazing mountains, monasteries, castles, the Danube delta, Black Sea and medieval old towns beg to be explored. It's the crossroads of Central, Southern and Eastern Europe and that can be seen and felt everywhere. The food is amazing too, with Turkish and Central European influences.
I agree. The only time It felt really overcrowded was when we visited Bran Castle. I think we Saw more tourists in that one place than in the rest of the country altogether. The churches were amazing, amongst the most beatifull orthodox churches i've seen in my life. The scenery was breathtaking and the food pleasantly surprising.
@@flagstaffsnowboard3911 what do you mean by too ethnic for your taste? I went there and found food not that strange and very tastefull. Maybe you didn't like some key ingredient?
277k annual visitors is huge for a place like Ladakh. The fact that more than half of these visitors come within a 4 month window makes it all the more stressful for a delicate ecosystem like Ladakh. Places like Spiti and Ladakh must not get much popularity else overtourism will completely destroy them.
Georgia is fabulous- both Tblisi and Kutaisi. I know you can't say it all but- I would also mention the local traditional music. Super fun and contemporary art scene in Tblisi. And hiking!
"Georgia would rank high on our list if not for the fact it's beginning to attract more tourists"..... Still higher on the list: Slovenia, South Tyrol and Naxos... Georgia is truly one of the best places I've been to. Truly deserves better than 10.
This is the first list ever ANYWHERE that has mentioned my families country The Republic of Congo ❤️🇨🇬🇨🇬🇨🇬 I feel seen 🙌🏾. And one day I’ll make my way there to visit it.
i'll be visiting Taiwan for the third time in my life once this is all over. It's one of the few countries that fared really well in this pandemic, despite being so close to China. No lockdown whatsoever and medical system functioning excellently. A lot of the western media have reported how Taiwan's diligence really saved them. It's relatively unknown compared to its neighbors, but it's got great mountains & beaches, vibrant cities, historical sites, amazing food, and really budget friendly.
It's really hard to find undertourism destinations these days, so I appreciate this list! With so many islands in Greece, that's a good call. Canada is great also, there is so much to explore where you won't see another person. The Baltics and Balkans are also underrated.
It is very true. Travel businesses after this pandemic are going to need support but the reduction in travel has been a real positive for the environment. When we do all start traveling again please choose travel providers that are environmentally conscious and proactive at offsetting their carbon footprint. It is actually really easy for travel companies to do so. Here at Wild Stride we are part of the Mongolian Nomad project which as well as supporting local nomads and protecting their way of life also plants trees to slow the ever-growing Gobi desert and encourages sustainable grazing patterns. Every time we run a tour we calculate our carbon cost and donate to the project to balance our carbon footprint. There are projects like this all over the world and more travel companies need to start getting involved. So please when we are all free to explore the beauties of our world again please do your best to preserve them by choosing sustainable travel companies. Thank you :)
I was supposed to be on a flight to Georgia tomorrow. I know health and safety come first, so we cancelled our flight and will reschedule it when, hopefully, this is all over. Trentino-Alto Adige is on my list of regions in Italy to visit merely for the reasons you mentioned. Mongolia has been on my bucket list for many years now.
Ladakh is not a disputed land between India and Pakistan. Also, it is not in Kashmir it is beside Kashmir geographically and demographically. It's totally cool to visit Ladakh. But yes it's a paradise unlike none.
I have been to Trento! Absolutely beautiful, we took a drive from Venice to tTrento, then down to the Italian Riviera, amazing trip! Mountains are gorgeous, cheers!
I strongly recommend SriLanka .its a small island in the Indian Ocean. Great wildlife, including large variety of birds ,the Asian elephants . Relaxing beaches with activities like swimming, snorkeling, diving, hiking, rafting, rainforest trekking. And of course a rich history, diverse culture, architecture and friendly people.
Ladakh is part of India and very safe.. It was incorrect to mention Pakistan in relation to Ladakh region. Also ladakh faces serious issue of damage to environment because of overtourism and needs some break from overtourism.
I went to Ladakh in 2011 and echo the sentiments about how amazing it is. Sadly it’s anything but ‘unknown’ to the burgeoning Indian middle class experience junkies who are flocking there in huge numbers and leaving a heavy footprint. Nowhere is sacred really
Places mentioned in this clip: 10) Georgia (the country) 9) Congo (the smaller, western one, not the big dangerous rape capital of the world) 8) Slovenia 7) The Andaman Islands 6) Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore (park in North Michigan) 5) Naxos, Greece 4) Ladakh (in Kashmir) 3) Mongolia 2) Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol (northern Italy) 1) Papua New Guinea (obviously whoever wrote this script doesn't care about being headhunted for dinner)
As a Papuan. I agree with number 1 but make sure you get to Milne Bay and New Ireland if you head there. Only Ha Long, Guilin, the Dolomites and Lofoten come close in my experience.
Some solid recommendations. Better than most. But I'd substituted India's Northeast for Ladakh, which is a pretty well-established tourist destination.
I recommend Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Albania, Croatia,Turkey..but get out of the big cities and explore the country. The Scottish Highland and Islands are wonderful and not mass tourism. Malaysia is a fascinating diverse country. I've always wanted to visit Georgia, The Cook Islands, The Philippines.
I would add place Albania at the top it is a real hidden gem with unspoiled tourism and nature. I would also suggest placing a list of countries that most likely will be open to all peoples being that many are closed. I would suggest the following hidden gems that are most likely going to be open to all tourists in 2021 and are politically stable not overrun with tourists and are safe: 1. Albania 2. Montenegro 3. Bosnia Herzegovina 4. Turkey 5. Macedonia 6.Cuba 7. Uzbekistan 8. Kazakhstan 9. Tunisia 10. Myanmar
Ladakh is not a hidden gem any more. It is flooded with tourists, mostly bikers. And that has spoiled the natural beauty of it. And travelling to Ladakh is unaffected with India-Pakistan situation.

Ladakh is not the disputed territory with Pakistan, POK in the Kashmir valley is a disputed one. Ladakh is a union territory as of now and completely safe. However, given that border dispute with China is on a rise right now, still the famous locations of Leh and Ladakh are quite accessible and safe for everyone. I can't say how much area is allowed by the government for foreigners to explore because of it's strategic location for India's defence against Chinese border, but it's mostly accessible for almost every Indian.
@mojotravels: In August 2019, the Parliament of India passed an act by which Ladakh became a union territory on 31 October 2019. It's no longer a part of Jammu and Kashmir.
I would love to visit some of these places but I don't know when international travel will be allowed from the USA. While other countries want some of that US travel money, at the same time they are worried about Americans spreading Covid 19 all over the place. But I'd like to do some international travel.

Fun fact, the world's coldest capital city isn't Moscow or Reykjavik or Ottawa, it's Ulaanbaataar!
Jacob O'Leary Reykjavik is warmed by the Gulf Stream. Ottawa and Moscow have a less extreme continent climate.
Not so fun fact. Partially because of that ulaan baatar is the most polluted capital in the world. (Everyone Burns coal in the winter)
Ladakh is suffering over tourism. It has no water for residents
Ladakh ♥️
