It would be very interesting to have the .ino file instead of the .hex file in order to calibrate the stepper motors so the 3d printer would work correctly. In addition we would need the characteristics of dvd motors (steps/rev, rating) to programme the arduino sketch. Thanks for sharing your printer.

The idea being to make small pcb's and engrave plastics and perhaps soft metals.

Hello i'm building this project with Marlin as firmware, but i'm getting some precision issues with the stepper from the cd-roms, for example, 1 mm moves you have to tap two times to do it, for 0.1mm you have to tap 11 times to do it, how can you pass this? (tap the direction arrow on print run)
    Thanks in advance...

How did u solved the heating problem in dvd stepper motor??
I did used dvd writer stepper motor as z axis for my nozzle. But motor gets heat up too much. I am worried it's coil will get burn. I did changed the current through potentiometer on the stepper driver to reduce heating, but eventually it didn't generated the required torque to lift my nozzle assembly.
    What should I do??

I don't like the fact that you're hiding the imperfections of your creation. This video is supposed to inspire people to create a replica of what you just did at home. This will cost people money and time. When you try to hide the parts that have failed in your print, that just makes me wonder what else did you hide from us. And with that said, you've not gained my trust in trusting you that what you just built was built purely from what we've seen in the video and I just can't trust that your video is actually something worth replicating.
    Thank you, but I'm out.
