I refinished a B.C. Rich Mockingbird'81, oiled it, polished the parts, polished the screws, replaced the frets, fixed the fingerboard, and replaced the nut.
It's a full course of work that I can do. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting so long.
Oil finishes are fun because each time I do it, I get closer to the finish I want.
The way the wood is finished changes depending on the wood, so I always wonder what I should do. I'm always thinking about what to do.
Hawaiian Koa has a sexy finish. It gives a moist feeling that is different from the wet feeling of lacquer coating.
I've never used a Kahler bridge before, but it's an interesting structure.
I'm a little concerned about the durability, but it's great to be able to arming comfortably. I'm not very good at arming, but...
Thank you very much for your request.

For masking tape, 3M is good. For high frets on guitars, 6mm is recommended.

Dremel 4000 rotor. Great torque, but hot! If you can, get a 4000 because it can do a lot of things.

I heard there is a new one called 4300. If you can use the base plate of a StuMac, this might work too.

3M body polishing compound, this is enough for a guitar.

It's good to have a lot of stuff, orange English oil for fingerboard

This cloth is very good. Recommended. Seriously.

All that I can say is, "WOW!" Your work is METICULOUS!
As a big Bc Rich and Kahler fan seeing a Golden Era Mockingbird restored to its former glory warms my heart along with the Kahler restoration, I love that you polish every single piece of the tremolo to the point i looks like it just left the factory. Kahlers should be on more guitars man. You sir have my utmost respect!
Thank you!
agree, I love Kahlers! Better design than a fulcrum vibrato in my oppinion.
@@cecilmusick8629 You Can't back bend on a Kahler
@@BillyBongwaters back bend? if you mean pull up, yes you can, Kahlers are full floating
@@BillyBongwaters I had my guitar guy rout out and paint a shallow section of top wood just underneath a Kahler on my early 80's Ibanez Ar100, just so I could pull up on the trem. Works like a dream.
This is the level of attention to detail that you want to see from a Luthier if you're going to entrust your favorite guitar to them. Great job Andy!
That bone nut is literally like a piece of jewelry. Beautiful work brother.
Watching guitars, hot/street rods, and fighter planes pulled apart and rebuilt with love and quality parts never gets old. Thank you for providing this video to us and all the work to make that guitar like that.
When the customer complains about the service cost you can show them this video lol. Your attention to detail is incredible
I've always liked the look of The Mockingbird. From the first time that I saw Rick Derringer play one.
First video and blown away! The care, the precision, the time and effort, the patience and, of course, the finished product - so glad I clicked play.
Thank you for a great video!
There is a little bit of a tool list in the overview section.
Thank you!
Good job Andy... it's incredible work and so satisfying to watch
I straight up lusted for a purple Mockingbird in the late 70's. I also pined for a Rich Bich, but that was something only Aerosmith could afford. I wanted ALL the switches.
This was amazing to watch. You’re an artist. Great job!
Just unreal attention to detail, very cool and inspiring. Great job on one of my favorite guitars!
Beautiful guitar and a wonderful job of bringing it back to better than new condition.
Wow. Super impressive work. Well done.
The attention to detail... amazing work!
so rarely do we see restoration videos of this quality and even rarer to see a Bcr get this kind of love, thank you for the time you put into this!!
Beautiful guitar, Unmistakable design!!!
Wow! I'm amazed at the attention to detail. Love to have my guitars set up with you. Great work!
The attention to detail is making my ocd happy. Good video!
a whole lotta love going on here....👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Absolutely fantastic job! Your attention to detail makes the finish product a truly beautiful work of art imo!
This is the level of restoration that only a highly sentimental, or a highly valuable guitar because of a tie to a famous musician, is worth it to do. There aren't many guitars, regardless of brand, where this level ($$$) of work is worth it. Well above $2000 of work being done here. Exception would be if this is his own guitar, where his labor is "free". But we get to benefit!
Fantastic job
thank you for giving that old gal the love she deserves. these golden era BCR's have so much mojo.
This video makes me relaxed and happy
wow, just such a nice attention to detail and respect for the instrument. Loving that you took the time to work with the original hardware rather than just binning it and getting new stuff. Nice work!
Perfect job, just the master level of a lutchier ,keep doing it
Amazing work. You attack this guitar with the precision of a fine watch maker. Great video work too!
It's a shame b.c. rich guitars from this era are largely overlooked. Fantastic instruments.
Such a delicate and precise work to make it not just an instrument but an art piece!!
Thank you!
BRAVO 👏 Fantastic work
The amount of passion you place into each and every guitar you work on makes all these instruments treasures
Thank you!
Wow! That’s a lot of work! Amazing job!
Thank you!
Your attention for details is Amazing! Never seen before someone love guitar like you in this video
Thank you!
a pleasure to watch how this dude works
Beautiful work - as always.
Thank you!
Wow! Fantastic work!
man you seem so unbelieveably patient! Great restoration :)
Great job.. BC Rich back in the 70s and early 80s were sure a unique guitar company,, they didn't copy anybody else that's for sure. A buddy of mine had one similar to that one around 1980 and I always thought it played as good as a Les Paul
As I've said before, you're a true artist...I feel I missed my calling. I get such satisfaction watching you do this meaningful work that I can envision myself doing it as well. It must give you such inner peace and pride. Absolutely wonderful!
Thank you!
Dude, wonderful work and great video! You let your skills do the talking for you and they are VERY well-spoken! Well done, sir. Now hook that thing to a JCM 800 and rattle the neighbors windows!
Incredible job!
just awesome, had a few older rich guitars way back and want them again.
what a beautiful job you did here... and thank you for not putting in music like other repair people and luthiers!
Very meticulous. I like that. You do great work !!!!
Mocking birds are so friggin cool, fell in love with that shape when I saw the dark red one Slash played in the video for "You could be mine"
Great work and love your attention to detail ! Most guys wouldn't have the care and patience to completely disassemble the Kahler to make it look perfect again.
Thank you!
You do absolutely brilliant work! you are a master!
Very hard bealtiful work🤟👏👏
Absolutely great work dude
Thank you!
Oh nice. Friend of mine had several, Bich, Wave, etc.
I love your videos! I learn so much from watching them. You clearly know what you’re doing.
If I may, I’ll suggest something: One thing that would be great to see is multiple before + after shots at the end of the video.
Thank you!
Grandissimo lavoro.
Lunga vita a te amico.
🎸🤟💪🏻👍🏻💯
Thank you!
Wonderful work you do sir. 🚀
Thank you!
Wow. If I ever need a guitar restored I know who to bring it to.
Amazing! LOVE this channel ❤
Thank you!
I dont know why, this made me miss japan even more. Awesome work!
Thank you!
I wish Andy was living near me , so I can send my guitar & basses 😁.
Beautiful. This is the only guitar I'd consider giving up my Les Paul Standard for.
Wow you're OCD man. I thought you crazy at the bridge but, when you took the screws out of the pickups I knew you were nuts! Great job
Some of my own work might be.
But my private room is very dirty.
But I can't stop thinking about the parts of my work that bother me.
Thank you.
Beautiful Shape. The Best.
I hope you are expensive Andy. Your attention to detail, for me, is unmatched on CZcams.
Oh that's a gorgeous guitar....
Man you have a level of patience that I can't even conceive of.

Hi time diffrents stops me from watching live but allways watch as soon as I can I love your attention to detail outstanding pitty your not in the uk lol
Thank you.
England is so far away lol.
Beautiful job!
Thank you!
Stunning!
I just love these guitars.
What a beautiful bc rich I want a 80s bc rich someday
I really enjoyed this.
O nível de profissionalismo desse cara é algo absurdo! O melhor luthier que já vi.
Amazing video, after cleaning up a guitar myself this week and how long it took I have a bigger appreciation for you guitar restorers and luthiers. Although my only criticism would be the speed of the electric screwdriver when removing the screws from the pickup due to being at risk or ruining the threads due to friction.
Beautiful just beautiful
Watching the bridge being torn down makes me appreciate my three saddle Tele bridge.
You can’t tell he loves what he does no short cuts !!!
Awesome work
Thank you!
Restored to just like the day it was bought in the shop... incredible handywork as always, enjoy watching you do your magic!
Great idea using not just a soldering iron but solder too to create good heat transfer into the frets.
DUDE! Great job!!!!!
Great job!
Thank you!
Awesome work, congratulations! I don't know why people bother to come here to complain whatever about whatever.
If I were doing this, all I'd be thinking about is getting it done and over with, not taking the time to do it right & flawlessly. Extraordinary patience, I'd love to see some original custom made guitars.
You had me the moment you started polishing the pole pieces. With a damned stencil.
Hope you are compensated fairly for your service. I’ve never seen anyone show this much attention and care to detail. I don’t think even the manufactures do this! Impressive work
Amazing!!
The Mockingbird is my favorite BC Rich guitar. Would rather have a Gibson stopbar tail piece than a Kahler, clouds instead of diamonds, and black/creme zebras rather than all black bobbins. Such a badass guitar. The new ones will never compare to a 70s Bernie Rico.
Quanto amor e paixão.... Como tem que ser!!! Parabéns!!!!
Great job
great job! you're awesome
Thank you!
good job. I yearn for it.
Thank you!
Wow, oh man, wow I thought I was going to puke at first. Nice. Really nice.
I’m saving this to my asmr file
Amazing!
This was great, thanks!
Thank you!
Watching your videos makes me wish I could send my Sheraton to you for a refinish, but the travel distance and cost for removing such awful finish as Epiphone poly made in 2011 is just so expensive. Your work is immaculate!
Killlller. Id love to have an early 80s mockingbird
Thank you!
That's next level!!
Thank you!
