I don't even mind that they want to tell a new story, even with Max alone. I just don't want that story to necessitate dimissing what came before and what has been so meaningful to a lot of people. Personally I'm not even asking for much; just allow us to have their bond or relationship still intact, if we so choose, even if it's in the background. Just don't canonize them splitting up just to create room for new romances. Their story isn't that replaceable and shouldn't be treated as if it is.

To be fair, all the LiS games are like that. Like, for example: you can play True Colors Wavelength without playing Season One. But if you did, the mention of the storm that happened in Arcadia Bay and the trauma that haunts Steph with it feel so much more meaningful if you did. But you have the ability to continue with any choice you made before. It's all left to the player.

You people really thinking that they aren’t just keeping Chloe under wraps as a surprise, and genuinely thinking they would reveal their entire hand during the live stream? The stuff of Chloe we saw in the live stream is absolutely not all we’ll be getting if her.
It’s obvious they’re keeping stuff under wraps and they wouldn’t just give everything away before the full release lol.
Also remember, the Farewell DLC for Before the Storm that brought back Max? Who’s to say Double Exposure won’t also have DLC content like for Max and Chloe. Even true Colors had an extra DLC episode.
Also the game isn’t just releasing a decade later, the timeline is set a decade later. She an actual member of the staff at that college, it makes sense that she and Chloe wouldn’t be constantly attached at the hip ten years later and want to have their own aspirations in life even if it means they aren’t always together. Chloe would have wanted Max to go to work at that college if it’s what she really wanted, even if it meant Chloe didn’t follow. I’m sure if you chose Bae ending they keep in close touch.

As a person who chose to sacrifice Chloe it would be messed up if Deck Nine choose to canonized that ending it would be like your choice didn't matter at all that you save Chloe.
People are making excuses that it doesn't make sense for them to be together given the trauma they had & i say NO people with trauma in a relationship is challenging but not impossible.
Everyone choices should matter & the outcomes should honor both parties.
interactive video games based on choices that you picked should matter because you are the one who chose that outcome.
You shouldn't be force to choose a romance option because you chose to be with Chloe.
It shouldn't be rewritten & explain why they aren't together anymore because thats not the outcome you chose.
    It's lazy writing.
If people pick to save Chloe it's revealed your not together in LIS4 then you question yourself why did i pick that ending to sacrifice a town to be with her?
The issue isn't that Max is not with Chloe.
The issue is did my choice matter that Max is not with Chloe?
That being said do I think Chloe will be in the full game no she'll likely get a cameo.
Max may have been the main character in LIS1 but it wasn't her story it was Chloe.
But can the people who saved Chloe get a dialogue option to say they are in a relationship even if she's not in the game?
    It's not that hard.

I HARD agree with what you said here. If they “respect” both endings, Chloe MUST be one of the main characters, otherwise what was the point in even saying they would “respect” both endings? Also, I’m not saying that Max can’t have other best friends than Chloe, but doesn’t it seem strange how most of the attention seems to be focused on Safi, not Chloe? The both of them went through their entire town being destroyed and losing loved ones. A bond like that is EXTREMELY strong, so it would very odd if Chloe wasn’t one of the leading cast.

  • @Misty25939
    @Misty25939 Před 16 dny +18

When they said that you can play Double Exposure without playing Season One, I firmly believe them. After playing True Colors, I think Double Exposure is definitely in the right hands. So, I'm not worried at all about previous choices being honored. These devs are excellent story writers, and I trust their decisions.
The reason why Chloe probably will just get a slight cameo at best is very simple. Double Exposure seeks to create a completely new story arc. And the best way to achieve that would be to focus the most attention on it. If you put too much attention to the drama that took place in Season One, the main story will lose focus. It'll devolve into a grieving fest that will drag on like the crappy Spiderman fan film Spiderman Lotus. Max isn't someone who let's such things rule over her life like Chloe did. She actually has the ability to move on with her life. So a scenario where she lives in a completely different city in a different state while Chloe is doing something else makes perfect sense to me. Max is a very emotionally powerful person.

I agree that max is an emotionally powerful person - no doubt - and her personality, from what I’ve seen so far seems completely in check. The visuals look stunning and I’m definitely drawn to the game but what would intrigue me more is how Max has coped with the decisions she’s made in the past. If she destroyed the bay it would eat away her - she would struggle to adapt and cope. If she saved the bay she would have grief over Chloe - I’m also interested in what happened immediately after the first game. I hope this game has some good answers, but I can’t help but be disappointed that max and Chole are not adventuring together and what that means for the people who chose to sacrifice an entire town for Chloe.

For all of us who chose to save it it's obvious that we want to see her again, then there's you who probably murdered her on a bathroom floor, thanks for not giving a damn whether the character is there or not. It's a question of coherence, if the ending has to be respected you have to see substantial differences, not nonsense. Why would the choices not be being respected? Chloe appearing would be a big middle finger to all the players that decided to, even loving the couple, save the whole fucking town because... you know, hundreds of dead people?
Ask about "where's her trauma?", when the game isn't even released, doesn't make much sense.
Think that this story is NOT an inmediate sequel to Life is Strange 1. Years passed between the two stories. Probably Max learned how to deal with the trauma (the trauma of Arcadia Bay destroyed or the trauma of Chloe dying). If you chose to save Chloe, perhaps they were together for a while and then ended their relationship. You said it yourself in 1:36 : maybe it didn't work out. She has a picture of Chloe on her wallet, of course she still remember. If they broke up, maybe it was on "good terms", and players that choosed to save her would learn what happened.
And there is also a much more mundane reason for Chloe to be treated this way: the studio is not going to animate the same game twice, the assets, the dialogues, just to include a character that is only in one of the versions of the story.

I‘m so torn between thisss. I’ll really miss Chloe and loved the comics to the games (so far I have read every volume until settling dust) which I feel like could have been told in a game too even if it was a smaller one. I do love how the new game looks and the gameplay we have seen so far looks really nice but there is so much that doesn’t seem considered. If they wanted to make a completely new game that’s understandable but then why bring Max in if so much of her story falls away? For me it would be enough if Chloe just made a little appearance as long as she has a reason to not be there (like let’s say she goes to art college away or they needed space). It’s also not just about Chloe. Careful here spoilers ahead! When they say that you don’t need to play the first game it sounds a lot to me like they will mostly disregard what happened to Max. Regardless of the choice Max makes at the End of LiS it will affect her greatly. Either she deals with the guilt of sacrificing her home town or she grieves her best friend (and obviously lover for a lot of us) which she grew up with. Not to mention the effects of being kidnapped by her teacher and learning that he is a killer targeting her now. There is a lot to unpack there.
I will definitely give the game a chance because the story looks really good and Max at least seems personality wise the same. The game definitely has potential and maybe they will listen to us and tweak a few things (one can hope right?).

Agree so much. This got me into reading, and writing, fanfiction. When the game ended IIwanted more. So whatever you choose its the end of Chloe and Max. Very sad.

Please just give us this, I beg!!! Ever since I played the first game it has been a strong part of why I love gaming today. If double exposure doesn't live up to the original's legacy, I and everyone else who loves this game will be distraught. I chose Chloe and if she doesn't show up after I tell the game that, I won't be happy. I'm really hoping if this does end up not featuring Chloe that the save Arcadia bay option will be able to match the original's feel. I have been aching for the new life is strange game which continues Max's story. This better be good

Look, this might get me hate. I hear you dude, would I love another Max & Chloe game? 100% I'm a huge Pricefield shipper, I'm in the middle of writing my own follow on story to the first game. I'm even wearing a Chloe shirt right now. But a new Max & Chloe game just isn't going to happen and you're not going to get what you want from this game. As you said, there will be mentions and maybe a cameo at the end if we're really lucky but I'd say it's a stretch. The main reason is Ashly Burch is too big now, I highly doubt Deck Nine could ever get her to come back, and you do need the OG Chloe. Also, to be fair, this is a Max game, NOT a Max & Chloe game, it's not like they're falsely advertising this. I get your frustration, but I ask, give the game a chance on it's own merits, don't condemn it due to an inevitable lack of Chloe.

No hate, not from me, no way. I totally respect your opinion, and enjoy a good debate. You know what, you’re totally right, they’re not advertising it as a max and Chloe game, it’s something different and I get that. As I said at the end of the video I’m not dismissing the game, I’m totally willing to give it a chance but right now, given how much I loved the first game, and how much I loved the characters, I’m still feeling raw that Chloe’s been given the slip.

@@TheGamingPsychologist I get that. The first game is my favourite video game hands down & I don't see anything ever replacing it. But I just feel lucky that we're getting a sequel in any form - if the series was still being developed by Don'tnod, no way would they have brought Max back, they said as much. It sucks we can't have them both, but we've got Max, that's something.

@@Larry-zl1tx That is an opinion, one I respectfully disagree with. It is not disregarding the player's choice, disregarding it would be saying sacrificing Chloe is canon and ignoring the other ending completely. The fact is Chloe IS mentioned, she is going to be included in some way. It may not be the way some people want but realistically, the only other way to do this would be to make two completely separate games for the two endings, and that's not feasible. The fact is we don't know specifically how they're going to handle Chloe yet, and people need to stop judging a game that hasn't even come out yet based on one factor.

They should have canonized the bay ending so people would stop whining about Chloe. Ashly was probably too busy working on all these horizon games and or didn't feel like coming back to voice Chloe. It's a stand alone game, you don't need to have previous knowledge of the original to understand the story in this game. Maybe they'll surprise us and Chloe will show up at the very end of the game but don't hold your breath. I've got a feeling we're not in Oregon anymore.
