Thinking about it now, we never saw an akuma that last longer than several hours. If he doesn't need to eat, sleep, I don't think he can even die like this, and the fear of being all alone. Just a never ending limbo, my heart breaks over and over for him. Marvelously done. Hope to see more! ;')
I know this is late, but I think we’ve seen a couple of akumas that last a bit longer than a few hours. Evillustrator was akumatized over 24 hours in his episode. In Antibug, Sabrina was akumatized as Vanisher at least overnight. Risk was definitely akumatized overnight as well, also probably over 24 hours, though it’s hard to say. Those are just the ones off the top of my head.
One thing I realized is that it makes sense that Chat was there for months because the ocean would take months to rise to that. So really in the beginning he would have been walking around Paris with "statues" of the people he 'killed' and he would have had all of silent Paris to himself. He would have called people around the world to help but no one would pick up the line. It would have dawned on him slowly to realize, "wow. I'm all alone in this world." He would have have had pictures of them together on the runway still on the billboards of Paris. All of them crumbling slowly. He would have watched the ocean swallow Paris whole. To have to sit and look at his reflection in the water. In his white suit and blue eyes that remind him so much of a pair of blue eyes he wished he could gaze into again. He would have had to swim down and try and not to touch her. (He knows this because he tried to touch Nino and the image of him turning to dust breaks him) he would have stayed there under water until he couldn't breathe. Finally he would try to sing himself. Talk to himself. Fiddle with his ring that he wishes he could have Plagg back. He would have cried and laughed and just stare numbly into the endless sea and wonder...wonder if this would end someday. Chat Noir would lose himself in the memories of their time together. Before they met and after. And he would see her. See her so real and there and as he reaches out he realizes its not real. That he's seeing things. And it breaks my heart that the first time he sees her come through the portal as he's singing. "Little kitty on a roof. All alone without his lady..." And ladybug calls his name. He says. "M'lady? I'd thought I lost you!" As if not time had past at all. Because maybe to him the times had merged together. Where yesterday feels like months. And months feels like a few seconds. That Chat still follows protocol and doesn't immediately call Ladybug Marinette. And I just- I hated and loved this episode.
Interesting thought might be why he doesn’t break free of the akuma himself. Perhaps he feels that he can’t physically do it, or maybe he feels that he shouldn’t. After all, he did cause this to happen, even if we know that he didn’t and wouldn’t do this intentionally. He felt this is what he deserved. Plus, he could think that even if he got out of Hawkmoth’s control, there isn’t anything he could do to fix it, and knowing Hawkmoth is his dad, he could think that by holding onto this he is holding on to a piece from the old world, however harmful that is for him. There are so many interesting views that this could take. Heartbreaking and interesting.
Awww, sooo heartbreaking 😭😭😭 I really loved the transitions between Chat Noir with Marinette to the same scene with Chat Blanc alone. And then how it ended with the moment they’re reunited in the episode. Our poor kitty 😭💀 Famtastic video! 💖
