Part 1: • Doctor Dre on Meeting ...
--------
In this clip, Doctor Dre opened up about starting Concept Crew, later known as Original Concept, and later getting a show on WBAU radio in the early 80s. It was there that Dre met Chuck D and Flavor Flav, and it was through their conversations at the radio that the concept for Public Enemy was made. Doctor Dre went on to speak about meeting Eddie Murphy, who would come to his WBAU parties, and being introduced to Rick Rubin.
During the conversation, Doctor Dre speaking about Original Concept signing to Def Jam, and he added that he never saw any royalties from the six albums released on the label. He also spoke about going on tour with the Beastie Boys and experiencing racism during a show in Boston. After speaking about leaving in the middle of the "Raising Hell" tour, Doctor Dre denied that Rick Rubin came up with the concept for Run DMC's "Walk This Way," and he called Rick the "great theif."

The fact that there is a" Dr. Dre" and a "Doctor Dre" is hilarious to me
Say it again. Got me confused for a bit!
Fun Fact: they have the same stage name (spelling aside) because they're both riffing on Julius Irving's nickname, "Dr. J."
One of them is a Ph.D the other is an MD.
There was also a havoc and prodigy of mobb deep and a havoc and prodeje of south central cartel

Him and Ed lover both should be on Drink Champs.

Damn it hurts to see him like this. Not being able to see is terrifying and I am happy to see him being able to cope. This is why I don't take anything for granted whatsoever. Much love to the fullest to the original Doctor Dre.
Just so you know they both were doing their thing during the same exact time just on 2 different Coasts. We in NY first heard about the Dr. from World Class Wreckin' Cru in 1985 but he was doing his thing as a club DJ before that.

It's been a long time since i i've seen this guy! I'm glad he's still alive. Yo MTV raps was my show! This was the show where you learned about every rapper at the time & every new video....the BOMB!!
Glad to see Dre still here. I heard he went blind from diabetes. Good to see that he's healthy and strong. He sounds waaaay different than I remember. But Dre and Ed Lover was the super duo of hip hop music video programs.
Elijah arvinger:. I was reading down through the comments looking for your comment. I was wondering if anyone else thought he sounded different than the Yo Mtv Raps days. I'm glad you said that because I didn't want to think that I was the only one.
Yeah he has been through a rough period and he does sound different. I remember those days when he always seem to wear black and a black hat. Friends watching Yo! MTV Raps would always big up Ed Lover but say Doctor Dre was a bit "fruity." I didn't see it. I had ignorant friends. lol

@@jasonjohnson6403 Gotta read the book
A legend in his own mind. This guy seems worse than the fake T.K Kirkland account claiming to have been responsible for, or a part of everything that’s ever happened. It’s Comical and not believable... Even his claim that in 1985 Black people weren’t allowed to walk through the front door of a party club someplace in Boston, yet he was cool with that and played his set with the band. Do any of you know ANY Black man that would have accepted that shit in 1985? Absolutely not believable! I don’t believe the Beastie Boys would have played their set either and allowed that. He wants legend status and pity at the same time!

Much respect to Dr. Dre! I always laugh when I think about that Original Concept song where he says "Im Dr. Dre not Fab 5 Freddy..." and him becoming part of Yo! Mtv Rap legacy later on in his career.
The reason Vlad hasn’t been doing certain interviews recently like this one & The Fertuado Brothers is because ever since the Hip Hop community has been calling him out on his unwillingness to apologize to Farrakhan he has been losing subscribers and thus feels if he takes a back seat on the platform such as doing most interviews and instead allowing viewers to hear a Black voice asking the questions it may stop the bleeding a bit.
Indeed 🩸
