  • Part 3: • Doctor Dre on Co-Hosti...
Part 1: • Doctor Dre on Meeting ...
    --------
In this clip, Doctor Dre opened up about starting Concept Crew, later known as Original Concept, and later getting a show on WBAU radio in the early 80s. It was there that Dre met Chuck D and Flavor Flav, and it was through their conversations at the radio that the concept for Public Enemy was made. Doctor Dre went on to speak about meeting Eddie Murphy, who would come to his WBAU parties, and being introduced to Rick Rubin.
During the conversation, Doctor Dre speaking about Original Concept signing to Def Jam, and he added that he never saw any royalties from the six albums released on the label. He also spoke about going on tour with the Beastie Boys and experiencing racism during a show in Boston. After speaking about leaving in the middle of the "Raising Hell" tour, Doctor Dre denied that Rick Rubin came up with the concept for Run DMC's "Walk This Way," and he called Rick the "great theif."

It’s Comical and not believable... Even his claim that in 1985 Black people weren’t allowed to walk through the front door of a party club someplace in Boston, yet he was cool with that and played his set with the band. Do any of you know ANY Black man that would have accepted that shit in 1985? Absolutely not believable! I don’t believe the Beastie Boys would have played their set either and allowed that. Everybody who ever signed a music contract done so on their own free will Rick didn't make them do anything and I dont see how he owes anybody more than what's been agreed. Let's be honest about the real reason for the hate, its only due to the fact he's white which is racist but racism is only bad when its white people being white. He signed the contract!
