Personally, I stated that I won't fight even for my own country, Singapore, during my serviceable years. SAF is run by fools who are corrupted and incompetent. "Voluntarily surrender" won't even be the worst I can go. I would even voluntarily join the enemy's ranks and crush SAF if that needs to be done. Yeah, call me a traitor. But SAF they preach that, "Rank is what you wear, respect is what you earn." The same goes for loyalty as well. And SAF never bothered to earned them. The soldiers lay in positions that were almost impossible to defend, the commanding officers disappeared somewhere in the stage, the soldiers often had no or no support from heavy weapons, no contact with neighboring units, or were sent to positions that were occupied by the Russian troops were fully reconnaissance and targeted by targeted fire.

A soldier who surrenders is always a voluntary act. He/she can't surrender "involuntarily". They can be forced to surrender but that is still voluntary because they always have a choice.
Remember these words in future, "Kyiv like Kharkiv have no strategic value"
