Thanks for the information, love eating perch, white perch over yellow, hopefully the blue cats won't eat everything in the bay before I get out!

One other area I often go for yellow perch, Marshyhope Creek/River, hasn’t had any yet. It’s also an area where Blue Cats have recently exploded in.
I still think yellow perch will be around and often are in other rivers with blue cats, but no doubt: blue cats are eating a lot of them.

I'm not from MD but live on the eastern shore now. I know everyone around here is for the white perch but yellow perch was my favorite growing up.

I love em both. I like to catch yellows more but eat white perch more. Little easier to clean.

You are so awesome and on point more times than most. I think I saw you in Walgreens in Arnold with your wife, but I didn't want to interrupt. Your informational videos are so on point ! I have never forgotten when you told me to use razor claims on blue crabs, good advice.. I live in St Clare and water entrance is limited. I would love to go fishing with you or to places you go. I am originally from Mississippi and have to relearn the fishing here.but my heart lies in fishing for food and conserving when needed. I have so much passion for what God gave us to survive and conserve on what we need later.

For finding fishing spots here in MD (and many other places) I’d recommend this video here. It says “Snakehead spots”, but the web tools I cover in the video can be used for finding water for any species:

I made this haul of fish into a tomato-based stew. Doctored the recipe a bit and added heavy cream. Came out delicious.

Since you already know where we were, I’ll tell ya: we went back there Sunday and tore up the JUMBO perch. I mean perch so big we refused to keep them to help protect the breeding stock.
Some big ones have moved in 🎣

Very useful overview, Steve. More useful than 99.44% of fishing videos - WITHOUT spotburning.
i live and fish DCL year-round...
(during the colder months, no slouch for huge PER),
... and haven't wet a hook in a spring run of tidal river perch for over 50yrs! So i doubt there'll ever be another time. But i very much appreciate having good advice about fisheries i've never engaged with. Call it unapplied lifelong learning, or fishing virtually through others who live under diff circumstances.
    Now, ever curious... got any
    Thx

...oops, grazed the wrong button there.
My question is, what are your thoughts about what neds are up to, AFTER they exit the spawning grounds. They don't go to Maine or Florida. They are still there, even if not easy to find or catch. Still interesante, eh?

Thanks for the kind words, Don. At the end of the day, my mission is to get people into the outdoors and help them enjoy and appreciate/care for it.
I haven’t heard the term “neds” before. Is that a term for spawned-out Yellow Perch? If so, I’ve read that the larger ones move to deeper water haunts in the bay, but that’s just what I’ve read.

Idk if you know this or not but depending how deep your lure is you can reel the tip of your rod down to the lure and push forward, the lure usually comes right off the log or limb you are stuck onto. Great video though. Tore em up yesterday in mattawoman. Headed back tomorrow for incoming tide during my lunch break😂

      @KambotroutFishing  Před rokem +1

Great tip 👍 It’s one I know, but I couldn’t use it until I started using just use one jig at a time. And even then, it was often too deep or too thick of cover. It did work a couple times though 👍
