I needed to hear this, because I have some stalled builds ( I've been contemplating suicide-LOL because of it) and I have to remember that it's not the end of the world ( it's just a hobby!!! )
Hi Robert, oh man I really hope not. It is just a hobby! For me, one that both frustrates me and gives me immense joy. While digging through the shelf I find myself asking, "why did I set this aside, this looks doable!" Then it hit me, it looks doable now, because maybe I somehow solved the issue in my mind and now I feel I can take that project to completion now!
Hi Bruce, exactly! I haven't seen one in so long. However, I did see one at the Savoy Museum in Cartersville Georgia last October. It was beautiful and just as funky as ever! I'm moving the tornado to the top of the list!😁

I fully understand about life getting in the way of what you really want to do! Hope your father-in-law fully recovers! It took me 4 + years to finally finish one of my builds! I started it when I 1st got back into the hobby. It was a rather complex & 'fiddly' kit with tricky decals. I tried to complete the kit numerous times but it did not meet my standards. I finally finished it last year...it's not 100% perfect but it's close enough for me.

You have a few kits to finish off, look at it as though they are almost done, just need to make it over the finish line. 😀 The paint on the Toronodo looks great. Some of those kits are difficult builds so I hope you persevere and get them finished. My shelves of shame are the unstarted kits I'd like to get at before my eyes or hands give out.
I watched the whole thing, I forgot to collect on the cookies you owe me in December. I'll add another one to the list. 😅 Any way, nice survey of the languishing projects. It is so frustrating to deal with setbacks. I could make one of these videos but it would be a feature length video .. with at least one intermission. 😟
Oh man... The fate that befell the Coronet's suspension hit me right in the feels. There's nothing that sucks all the air out of the hobby room like an accidental break on a kit you've purposed to complete as perfectly as you can. I've been there many more times than I wish to recall. I need to finish shooting a bench update because I've actually made some forward progress on my PILE of SHAME. I'd do well to stop joining group builds though. So which one of those projects are you going to nudge across the finish line first?

Brian i call it a stash aa long as you think you will build them when you know you will not it is a collection. Just my take lots of projects to finish up and we all have some.
Great video BG. Thankfully I only have 2 unfinished projects lol. One project is out of my control because I need a donor kit. The second project has been on the back burner because of other projects/group builds have been the main focus 👍😎

Hi Deen! Wow, thank you!! I really appreciate the kind comments about the paint jobs. That used to be one of my weaker areas! I feel like a lot of these I have put too much pressure on myself to "do a good job" with and causes me to stall out.
Like many on here, I have several of my own on that shelf of shame. And this year I decided I will get at least one unfinished build on that shelf completed every year. I just uploaded a video of my first finished build a few days ago. Now I can start adding more to that shelf until next year! Great video, thanks for posting, and keep us updated.

Deadlines are suggestions these days LOL. I have been tinkering with the Porsche kit a bit, but still need to wet sand the paint and give it another layer of black. =)
On the Curtis Midget BG, just "sharpen" an eraser you already have to any small size required. I've done it for small aircraft like Spirit of St. Louie. On decals, good sized plate of warm (easily done where you live) water and clean flat paint brush. Use plenty of water and place the wet paper onto the kit and slide it in place which keeps you in control when transferring them. Ha, same Revell Chevy pickup not finished in 30 yrs. from the Mach 1 race boat team issue. There's serious decalling! My current doom builds is a pair of recently reissued Atlantis (Revell) 57 Chevys. The clear windows are pre- scratched, and Too Small! Anyone know what other kit clear will fit it? Even from a 55, etc ..

I totally understand the shelf of shame. Almost all of have one of those. You just have to buckle down and get them finished, and don’t start any new projects until you get all of them finished. Remember, while you are finishing there will be plenty of content to show all of us. I’ve been interested in the Tornado since you started, and would really like to see that one finished. That's the way it goes in a lot of hobbies. We get started on a project and the side track happens. Also your right , buy the kits now while you have the money. Then build them later when you have time and can enjoy the build.

I see the DRG sticker back there, i just got mine yesterday. She does some awesome builds! What you said in the beginning about buying them when you can is so true! That Toronado at the end is one that reminds me of that. Same with "she's got legs..." Lol

Have you heard any news on ACME? I keep looking for updates on their website for host hotel room packages, but haven't seen anything. I even emailed one of the club members but got no response. 🤔 I don't usually build more than one at a time, but I've got a side project going on for ACME along with my current channel build. Only my GTO is on the shelf of shame. 😔 Peace and love.
Hi TJ, from what I know the host hotel is sold out and has been for some time. There are other hotels in the area. But sure what they are or about rooms and availability.

Family always comes first. Over the years I've found that "Shelf Queens" are the result of either manufacturers' poor quality, builders' errors, boredom, waiting for parts/decals, lack of research/reference information, or a SQUIRREL pops up(a shiny new kit that garners your attention). I'm torn over this topic because as Viper told Maverick, "A chance to bug out right here. Better to retire and save your aircraft than to push a bad position" Sometimes it's better to walk away from a bad model situation and take a break than to "force" finishing a difficult model and ruining it. I'll keep your father in-law in my thoughts & prayers Bryan. Stay cool 🥶and well hydrated 🍺Buddy. Tom S.

Hi Vinny! Oh yes, I had a ton of issues with the grill/headlight piece. I am working on adding styrene to the fenders in order to fill the gaps and hope to blend that all together. It won't look stock, but it will be a decent fix.

I actually am, but I only have a few kits listed in my stash. I started listing them as a record of what I have on hand. I'm on there as BG Model Workshop.
Most of us have that shelf.... No worries man no one leaves this earth saying....it is finished....cause guess what we are all human our story does not end on earth... Now get back and finish those models!! 😂😂😂
I think its stupid to call any started and abandoned project a shame!Why should you be ashemed??In my opinion every started project is an experiment where you try to achieve something and then did and lost interest!I think each is a evolution of your skills!

That's the way it goes in a lot of hobbies. We get started on a project and the side track happens. Also your right , buy the kits now while you have the money. Then build them later when you have time and can enjoy the build.

Great group of half builds, I have soooo many boxed, get frustrated on a part, not going as planned so I shelf it.. Love the color on the Toronado

I see the DRG sticker back there, i just got mine yesterday. She does some awesome builds! What you said in the beginning about buying them when you can is so true! That Toronado at the end is one that reminds me of that. Same with "she's got legs..." Lol
Howdy!!! DRC does an amazing job with her builds. I wish she had a channel too. That Tornado is one of the top two builds I hope to get back on! I recall setting it aside to polish the clear. Then.....life stuff lol. 😁

Have you heard any news on ACME? I keep looking for updates on their website for host hotel room packages, but haven't seen anything. I even emailed one of the club members but got no response. 🤔 I don't usually build more than one at a time, but I've got a side project going on for ACME along with my current channel build. Only my GTO is on the shelf of shame. 😔 Peace and love.
Hi TJ, from what I know the host hotel is sold out and has been for some time. There are other hotels in the area. But sure what they are or about rooms and availability.

Don't we all have that shelf ? I have some that I started 40 years ago and someday I will complete them. Sometimes the build is not speaking to me and I have to put it away until the mood strikes me.

Family always comes first. Over the years I've found that "Shelf Queens" are the result of either manufacturers' poor quality, builders' errors, boredom, waiting for parts/decals, lack of research/reference information, or a SQUIRREL pops up(a shiny new kit that garners your attention). I'm torn over this topic because as Viper told Maverick, "A chance to bug out right here. Better to retire and save your aircraft than to push a bad position" Sometimes it's better to walk away from a bad model situation and take a break than to "force" finishing a difficult model and ruining it. I'll keep your father in-law in my thoughts & prayers Bryan. Stay cool 🥶and well hydrated 🍺Buddy.

Boy howdy!! 😁 I moved that shelf from across the room to right over my desk so I can see those models every time I come into the room and sit down. Hopefully that gets me motivated to work on them more rather Brian ignore them.

Hi Vinny! Oh yes, I had a ton of issues with the grill/headlight piece. I am working on adding styrene to the fenders in order to fill the gaps and hope to blend that all together. It won't look stock, but it will be a decent fix.

I think its stupid to call any started and abandoned project a shame!Why should you be ashemed??In my opinion every started project is an experiment where you try to achieve something and then did and lost interest!I think each is a evolution of your skills!
