    Just one thing to be very careful, if the base is not set on a known point or get corrections from a server, the relative precision will be good, couple of cm, but the absolute precision, the one that matters when doing a survey, will be 1-3m

    • @MichaelSmith-td7op
      @MichaelSmith-td7op Před 4 lety +6

      Actually that is not entirely correct. The relative precision will be within a couple of cm, that is correct. But to say that the one that matters is your absolute precision is not entirely correct. What I mean is, does the typical user really care where their map as a whole is accurately located on the earth to a couple of centimeters? The answer is no. A typical user does not care if their project as a whole is located on the earth to a couple of centimeters. What a typical user cares about is the relative position to each other. As long as my points are correct to each other to with a couple of centimeters that is what is supremely important. A typical user will not care if the entire project is located to with a couple of centimeters to the correct latitude and longitude on the earth. Only if I was trying to send coordinates for the chimney to send a smart bomb would I care that the absolute point is located. The only flaw in this setup is that your elevation will not necessarily be tied into a local county or state benchmark Hopefully I made myself clear.

    Nice video. However, for a complete tuto,
    You should have told how to set the coordinates of the base station placed above a known point (with measurements of the height of the antenna).

    • @andyc7717
      @andyc7717 Před 3 lety

      'Distortion correction' uses the on-board computer to correct for len distortion. This inital approximate correction makes it harder for subsequent photogrammetry software to then properly correct for lens distortion. For proper surveys you should turn distortion correction off.

      If you are looking to use Topcon Tools for analytics, you will first need to process the imagery with point cloud generation software and transfer the completed map to your preferred analytics software. The Phantom 4 RTK does support PPK post processing if that is what you are referring to.

      I'm interested in the same question. I haven't found a way to get RINEX data from the base station. You can export RTCM data but it's in a .dat file format and not typical generic RINEX form. File is similar to a Geomax GPS raw data file but their converter doesn't happen to work for the DJI base file.
