    Excellent videos - Thank you for the clear explanations of basics which allows players to make meaningful choices from the very start!
    I hope in the future you'll upgrade the visuals with videos and not just still photographs.

    Ushabti would absolutely have special rules - immunity to terror / confusion. In a similar vein, thematically Blood Knights can't substitute Black Knights since they would work more like ghouls being able to act on initiative etc

    • @iainmstanding
      @iainmstanding  Před 3 lety +6

      Yes all undead units have army wide rules. Undead units are immune to terror, ignore confusion, and ignore enemy proximity. But have no initiative. This has no impact upon their points value though, as the negative trait is balanced by the positive traits. My point is that Ushabti should have no special rules in addition to being undead, so should be costed like a unit that had no other special rules. Hope this makes sense.
      I understand that your interpretation of blood knights is that they should be alive in the same way ghouls are. But blood knights don't exist in warmaster. So making black knights a little bit better by giving them a magic item allows you to represent blood knights, just by the fact that they can perform better on the battlefield than the black knights.
      Warmaster does not try to recreate warhammer in a smaller scale. It is a different game. But please use the experimental rules forum to add your ideas for consideration by the rules committee.

    Loved this video. And also wondered where you got your tomb guard and Ubshabti miniatures. My Ubshabti came from polar fox. Also I love using g the black ork stat line for the Ushabti along with the balance of not using one of the larger constructs or both in your case.

    Was wondering take warhammer list and warmaster list and compare to figure out a pattern how they translate over then you could carry over desired units (yes much play testing) but some fun research

    Nice video. Is it possible to play ancient armies vs fantasy or is the balancing different?

    • @iainmstanding
      @iainmstanding  Před rokem +1

      Whichever rule set you use (either fantasy or ancients) the other side will suffer. Fantasy armies are far more powerful than their ancient counterparts, while ancients have skirmishers, that fantasy armies cannot counter. However with some forethought you can make it work. I always wanted to play Romans vs Tomb Kings.

    I like the point about adding new units but I have to ask, why don't tomb kings have the Ushabti and Tomb Guard? Whenever they made that tomb king list they clearly did not think it through well enough or possibly was it a balance choice?
    This is the only sour spot for me about this game so far, some key units in some factions that really should be there are missing and seemingly after years of play testing there is nothing on the horizon for these units and it is a shame.

    • @matslarsson6919
      @matslarsson6919 Před 3 lety +4

      Why not make up your own rules? I have made my Ushabti to be 4/4/5+ infantry with the Slow rule from Warmaster Ancients. No one has come around to arrest me yet! Sure, I don't go to tournaments and am lucky to have a group that is open to experimenting and house ruling.

    • @iainmstanding
      @iainmstanding  Před 3 lety +6

      The warmaster tomb king list was the first army list produced for tomb kings in any game system, so it pre dates the warhammer tomb king army by several years. This is why there are no ushabti or tomb guard, they had not been invented then!
      The list is designed to have weak infantry on purpose, the strength of the army are chariots, artillery and magic.
      If you want to add your own units to the army please do, and why not put your suggestions on the experimental rules forum.

    • @iainmstanding

      I second @Death1942 's wish to see more units from Warhammer being directly represented in Warmaster.
      I fully understand the principles behind the smaller army lists, the magic items and such, but outside of the game balance, I think it would do quite a bit to seduce the former Warhammer player to come and try Warmaster.
      Anyhow, I am very pleased to have discovered the experimental forum, there are some really cool stuff there (like an extended Tumb Kings list)
