- This film chronicles the journey of the bald eagle's recovery from disappearance on the Channel Islands in the 1960s from DDT contamination, overhunting, and egg collecting to today's population of about 60 birds on four Channel Islands, some that are successfully breeding. Film Correction: Annie Little's title should say "Wildlife Biologist, Montrose Settlements Restoration Program"

Tu for all you’ve done for our eagle 🦅🦅
I salute those who undertook the challenge over 10 years to have DDT reparation made. Then to work tirelessly to re- establish Bald Eagles in the Channel Islands. After 28 years to see the first chick hatch naturally - no wonder that guy was emotional. From a U.K. viewer who follows th Big Bear Valley Bald Eagles, Jackie and Shadow. 🙏🦅
The story of restoring the bald eagles to the Channel Islands is really awe inspiring.
It takes a lifetime of dedication for the tireless workers who have accomplished this.
I salute you all.
These scientist are heroes in my book
@@dancebiscuit8250 I agree I cant see them

A very informative document about the Bald Eagles. Thank you from 🇨🇭 for sharing this heartwrenching story of these beautifull birds. What a fantastic work 🎉🎉🎉
I've watched this multiple times and still brings a tear to my eye. Many thanks to all who helped with this project. So wonderful to see Princess Cruz still breeding and contributing to the population ❤
Thank you for your great work
This was an amazing documentary. I just learned of it from Lady Hawk, she is tireless in her dedication of putting out such informative eagle videos and am so thankful for all who are involved with bringing us the day in the life of so many eagles. I wonder with all the chemtrails being sprayed in our skies, what this effect has on this generation of eagles and other wildlife as well 😔. Beautiful islands.
thank you for this moving documentary of our majestics in the channel islands.
What a beautiful film. Bald Eagles are so majestic!
Beautifully shot and wonderfully told story with a happy ending!
Thank you for the few people of the planet who care. You are the only hope of the future for us all.
What a beautiful film of restoration ! I wish I had found this a few years ago. I had been wondering how the eagles were brought back. IWS, awesome work !! Thank you ! 💗🦅

just found this video and so awe inspiring. Such hard and loving work to restore the Eagles. Thank you
Hi! This video was mentioned on your IWS.org eagle cam site this evening by a member. I watched the video and learned so much about the Channel Islands, the eagles, and their struggles with survival over the years. Thank you to Dr. Sharp and everyone involved with the Channel Islands and the eagles. I just started watching eagle cams last year, then came upon your IWS site about 2 months ago, and now I check in to see the eagles daily. I am a big fan now and I donated to your fundraiser. I am already teaching my granddaughter about these wonderful eagles. Thank you so much! 💜🦅💜
This is such a great story and video, in so many great ways. May the success continue.
I had watched this about 2 years ago. Just came across it and watched it again. It is just as wonderful a second time :)
My audience is not massive but I am going to place a link to this beautiful documentary under all videos I make on Channel Islands eagles.

Wonderful flim! Loved being at the Channel Islands National Park at Ventura Harbor to watch its debut. Especially exciting to participate in the Q&A afterwards with the Film Producer, Kevin White, Dr. Peter Sharpe & Annie Little. What a great day! We look forward to the extended version ..... Thank you!
Thank you for this informative video.
I saw a pair of bald eagles a few days ago on the mainland above Santa Barbara. I hope my new video software may allow me to home in on them when I post the video.
Kevin Whites Eagle documentary is amazing from the ariel shots that take your breath away to little baby eagle heads popping up in a nest taking your breath away again with awe. The pesticide sections are just plan crazy too. You have to see this and mostly the mother Eagle sitting on the ladies lap, she is so beautiful.
Thanks for sharing, Nicely done Kate!
Thank you Dr.Sharp
Thank you Dave Garcelon, Dr. Sharpe, Kate Faulkner, Annie Little, and so many others.... What a success story this has become! ❤ We love you all so much! ❤️

Cholyn and Chase had a young female fledge many years ago, she is now known as Thunder. She and her mate Akecheta have three newly hatched chicks at West End, all because of this effort begun so many years ago!!

That's alot of gear on eagles to track them GPS did they staple the tag on wings?
I'm here because of LS1, but this is really interesting though!
But that doesn't seem to be working DDT is still in water?
Who's here for a class field trip?
Here is link to Cams with an option to support the continuing efforts. www.iws.org/livecams.html

@@nicos4818 Thanks bro, I made it myself
Now do Earth. The rest of it.
😂❤
WHAT'S ALL THIS ABOOT??
Thumbs up. But I hardly think it is stupid; I love LS1!
Why can't they band the foot instead of the big # on wings?...
RutherfordClan , the tracking on the wings is short lived on the wing (s), and it eventually in time, simply goes away. Unless reason for removal, the bands or tags on ankles are permanent.
To see the information on the tag they'd have to capture the bird. With the wing tags they can monitor from afar. Far less intrusive and stressful to the birds. There's no other way to see if their program worked or not. It did, astoundingly, and I am greatful!
@@sallyshipwreck4315 Well said, Sally! After all, we are talking of a minor evil as opposed to potential disaster!
are they spraying the kids at the pool with DDT?....🤔
DDT is banned in the US,.
@@sallyshipwreck4315 It is, now. Not back then, scary/shocking right??
DDT then, asbestos and freon later, glyphosate now.
WHo here watching this in 2017????????????????????
2020
@knarley Thank you. This was great information and for me a little emotional to know what the Bald Eagles went through so much; pretty much torture to wipe them out and off of Catalina Island.
They had a paradise until man ......
But what’s going to happen to them again right now with trump removing them from the Endangered Species List and letting manufacturing plants pollute the rivers with toxic waste and the air with plants spewing toxic fumes? And to add, tearing away their habitats in the forests bc man/trump is fracking the land for oil/gas?
I’m afraid all of our wildlife are in endangered and for the Bald Eagles Endangered again.
That includes fish deer bear coyote ground hogs etc.
Actually those wind turbines in the desert r killing hundreds of Eagles & other Birds of prey.
**With you here to the last word.**
As the other wise commenter points out, wind turbines are not perfect either - thankfully there's alternatives; Nikola Tesla's 1913(!!) bladeless turbine! No excuses.
I ALSO WANT THAT ISLAND FOX 40 seconds in MY GOD!!!!
