    Great stuff. Really appreciating how so many triathletes are now documenting their training, really is motivating.

    I see that you have a special custom made adapter to connect your saddle to the seat post. This allows you to be in a much further forward position right over the bottom bracket. Do you find this far forward position helps on the bike leg of a triathlon ?

    Dang, Ya'll are the Roger Bannister of back in the day. He was first human to go sub four minute mile, and you all will be going SUB seven for sure at Germany, and it's evident that you will go with such a controlled scientific effort at St George on 07May2022 and for sure at least a 7: 25:00! Boom, how bout them apples!!! Its sad that no one else has a snowball's chance in hell against you and Gustav. And lastly, the "Mindset" alone that ya'll have over everyone else is key as well for your up coming success. All the best!

    just a little curious about your testing protocol. Do you have 2-3min rest between each 8min step or is it a big block of 64min progressing each 8min with measures at each step while continuing to pedal ?
    By the way, your videos are awesome.

    Great video. :) What is the purpose of the vo2 max test? Is it to find what power you can maintain during a race or to modify power number for your training zones?

    • @kristian.blummenfelt
      @kristian.blummenfelt  Před 2 lety +7

      To see how the VO2 max is compare to LT2 and LT1. And see where we need to spend our focus on for the next period

    • @scottjones1962
      @scottjones1962 Před 2 lety

      @@kristian.blummenfelt At what %s of V02Max were LT1 and LT2 occurring at?

    • @matthickman3417
      @matthickman3417 Před 2 lety

      Lt1 is where lactate starts to increase (it’s essentially level 1 into level 2 aerobic.. they may estimate this from the vo2 max test (with history and research) but the best way is a lactate threshold test (problem is it’s say 30-35 mins dependant upon protocol but vo2 max is 8-12 mins so oxygen cost is “less”), lt2 will also be estimated… my guess is they did both for training and race purposes.
      Kristian said that his vo2 max last year was c 92 ml/kg/min (you’ll need to know the watts he’s at in the test and the power curve relationship with vo2 to work the watts out) but generally in elite men lt1 will be around 55-60% and lt2 around 75-80% but it really depends on so much and I doubt he’ll share that info because peers will know how to pace against him.
      Interesting they use the vo2 master though

    • @matthickman3417
      @matthickman3417 Před 2 lety

      Lt2 is defined very differently but think of it as the point at which lactate levels increase at a significantly increasing rate… some define using obla some define using formula.. main point is be consistent and often eye is still best

    • @scottjones1962
      @scottjones1962 Před 2 lety

      @@matthickman3417 I mean i understand all that. What im wondering is what percentage of VO2 those thresholds are occurring at. My guess is KB LT2 is occurring at around 92% of VO2Max while LT1 is occuring at 83-85%. But those are only guesses. I'd be suprised with all the threshold work they do if LT2 was occurring at any less than 90% of VO2Max
