So agree. Today’s footballers may be fitter and more athletic but I would rather watch that any day. I was a fanatic and although a Liverpool fan I would go and watch a game anywhere when you could just turn up on the day.
I found it amazing that I could recognise nearly every player. Nowadays I can’t do that even on HD TVs. The one person I had forgotten was Carl Harris. Quite surprised Billy Bremner was still there; I thought he left for Hull in late 75.
Thanks for posting whoever it is

Match of the Day with Jimmy Hill and The Big Match with Brian Moore were proper highlights programs back in the 70s and 80s. None of the endless side chatter and analysis...just here are the highlights and here are the league tables.

John Jensen QPR were a fine team for 18 months. That isn’t good enough. Even the finest teams don’t win it every season. You’ve got to be there or thereabouts for a couple of years to have a decent chance to win it. I remember watching QPR at Anfield in December 77. Liverpool were crap and QPR even worse. I also saw QPR lose to City at Maine Road two months later . Less than two years after being so good QPR were really mediocre.
Really enjoyed watching that however. Very professional performance by Leeds and really good stuff by QPR. I always liked John Hollins
You may have heard in the commentary that Liverpool won more away games than anyone that season. Strange for a negative team

@@steffanhoffmann8937: "Most natural football." Great line: Well written. The mercenary xeno-powder puff football we have today doesn't compare. The new rules stipulating safety to satisfy soft sapiens playing in manicured and readily drained pitches allow the outsiders to ply their "special skills."

45 minutes later we were down and L'Pool were top! Apart from my obvious sorrow I also felt for QPR too - that was such a fine team you had! Bowles, Francis, Givens, Thomas....all at their peak!

I can be more specific. Steve Kindon's goal kept Wolves in front until 14 minutes from the end, then Keegan, Kennedy and Toshack really put the boot in. I couldn't bear to listen to the radio, and the BBC news showed the Rangers team watching the game at Molyneux on a TV screen in a studio somewhere.
Really though it was Norwich that did for us. I don't expect Rangers ever to get that close again.

Shepherd's Bush, and we're served by more tube stations than them. The Arse's closest are Arsenal and Holloway Road now, and Chelscum is nearest to Fulham Road, while Shepherd's Bush, Shepherd's Bush Market and especially White City are all in easy walking distance of Loftus Road.

Additional. In Rangers' last 15 games, they won 13, drew one, lost one, the sort of form that Man U now get towards the end of a season. The irony is that the loss was against Norwich, party poopers but no great shakes, and the draw was a 0-0 away to Sheffield United, who finished bottom of the table.
