A legendary team and my boyhood heroes
    Super leeds indeed!

Very nostalgic. Players that look like ordinary blokes with a kit on. One Southampton player in the warm up with his sleeves pulled down over his hands, shoulders hunched, like on a cold Sunday.

Relentless energy and movement, players interchanging and pressing the ball in packs to win the ball back early. Ring any bells Leeds fans? Ahead of their time, the one and only Super Leeds. After the 7th goal Revie told the players not to score any more, as he was friendly with Southampton manager, hence the fun football at the end.

What would that "LEEDS" team be worth in todays market. Each player would be worth £100,000,000 I mean Grealish went for a hundred Million and never won or do much and would'nt even get into that leeds team those players and manager and back room staff were the greatest of the greatest of the greatest. Will probably never see there likes again would be priceless. No hugging and kissing or rolling around with a fake injury there. Get a goal and just shake each others hand not like todays over payed and spoild players get touched and they'd roll around as if they were shot. Even todays leeds players are not much six games into the season and haven't won a game yet. And all the money they get compared to what does players use to get payed. Dont have the same passions for leeds like I use to have. Players are over hipe and over payed and not much to watch playing the game.

I was at this game, up against the fence in the boy's pen and remember 2 things especially, the first was jack scoring, and the second was the ole's. a great performance from the classic leeds line-up, which i can still remember and name till this day.

Seven goals and all from open play. When you consider they did it all on atrocious pitches, just think what they would have been like on modern day pitches.

Southampton conceded 8, 7, 5 & 4 in matches that season but weren't relegated. Leeds were on another planet that day but missed out on the title, finishing second for the third successive year.

Commentator (Barry Davies) said that Cooper is injured so Reaney comes in at number 2. Reaney always played at number 2. The only change was Madeley coming in at number 3.

"Poor Southampton just don't know what day it is." A bit harsh maybe, but true. For the class gap between them & Leeds was rather vast at the time, though I think it was a bit cruel the way Leeds were just knocking the ball around rather casually, once they were 7-0 up!

They were a great side but at times they were animals. Eddie Gray was a brilliant exception.

Most teams had their animals in the 70's. Leeds just got accused of it more, as they were more professional about it.
