Jesse Owens said he was better treated in national socialist Berlin than back home in the USA. Please think a little about that. He was a great champion and a beautiful soul.

I was hoping for a documentary on Jesse Owens that showed the true story, and this video did exactly that. I am so sad with society and how cruely it treats people. Jesse Owens will always inspire me in my heart. It goes so far beyond what he did on the track. And Bill Cosby, thank you for your views and words. You are always trying to make a positive difference. May passion, compassion, and thoughtfulness/caring always rise up and conquer all. Once we all have this, we will then be complete.

Mr. Owens is such an inspiration! Such an amazing human being. One thing mentioned in this documentary that doesn't stand out is the changing of his name. Back then teachers would change names of any kid that sounded too different to them, no matter what race.

Yes I read this too and German fans cheered for him, America is getting annoying with this preschool propaganda.

It's always amazing to me that even in this day and age that minorities still don't get recognition beyond the "playing field." Watching this video of Jesse Owens just solidifies my belief that for the majority, once removed from that playing field, black and other minority icons/athletes just are seen as they were (and most often treated similarly to) in the days of "slave mentality."
For many of these athletes, once off the field (and sometimes even while still on the field) they are seen as being inferior to whites. Times have changed and to a certain degree so have some of the overt criticisms and racist thoughts and actions but there are still far too many who think of minorities as being inferior and who always will.
For me, the pinnacle of athletic achievement lies in the accomplishments of athletes such as Jesse Owens, Jim Thorpe, John Carlos, and Edwin Moses. Their feats can never be taken away despite the bigoted views and manner in which they were often viewed. These men for me are icons in sport and away from the "playing field" stood tall as giants amongst men.

I get said about the way in which he buckled although he had nothing to use. Especially how he actively worked to tear down the young black athletes who were protesting the 1968 Mexico city olympics.
