I've been looking for this song forever. I used to hear it on the radio back in the 90s and never knew the name of the song. Found it - finally!

Just realised the line "pure as any Lilly and as gentle as a dove" is borrowed from "spancil Hill" when I saw a clip of Shane performing it with Christy Moore on the late late show. Christy also borrowed a lyric from it for his own football song "joxer goes to Stuttgart"
One day twenty years ago, the guy from Vienna borrowed my CD from the Poques.
This changed my perception of the music.

I like how the male dancer in this video tries to headbutt the rotating disco ball above him like it was an actual soccer ball. Apparently that was also how David Lee Roth broke his nose while Van Halen were filming an Italian TV clip in 1980.
