- The eighth of the rematches against every chapter's boss from the recent beta of the hack "Paper Mario Pro Mode" by Clover. Trailer: • Release Trailer: Paper...
These rematches are for players who have beaten the game and are looking for additional challenges. Many of the bosses have updated moves and much more HP and Attack power. I'll be using my max damage and defense badge build to deal with them.
The Crystal King has the same moves, but this time he's considered a spiky enemy. So equip Spike Shield if you want to use D-Down Jump. Or maybe he was always a spiky enemy? Who knows. Other than that, same strategy as usual. I hope you're good at blocking his Ice Beam attack.
Kooper deals the most damage to him thanks to Fire Shell, so use him in those free turns when you can go all out.
3:10 that sound effect never gets old.
neither does 1:50
Crystal King rematch appears to be the one that was altered the least. As a result, it's probably the easiest of the remixed boss fights, mostly because of how many turns he wastes (respawning Crystal Bits or splitting into clones) doing things that don't hurt Mario.
It's the exact same, just with more HP. I agree, that's his biggest weakness. If they made it so he can summon bits or clones and then use another move then it'd be more challenging.
from your description the Crystal King is not a spiky enemy normaly just to clarify. To be fair I never used the Spike Shield Badge during my playthrough of Paper Mario (normal Paper Mario) so I can confirm he's not one Normaly. Now even if his fight isn't changed he stays a nice and relaxing boss fight and the music is really Nice.
One idea would be to make him attack twice per turn, though I'm not sure if that's even possible. Should be, though. It'll add an extra layer of hurt, for sure.
Maybe they are trying to throw a bit of a bone for the stupid incredibly hard Giga Bowser fight haha.
Because outside of the hack, he’s without a doubt the hardest one, I’d say Tubba Blubba and Lava Piranha are still easier, but yeah, he’s still the easiest in this hack if we exclude those 2
He will always be my favorite Paper Mario boss
Wait, you can rematch bosses in this game on harder difficulties? This whole time I still had another objective I should have done before making my hardest Mario bosses list?
...Well then again I guess it's probably for the better, since then I wouldn't be able to start the list before the upcoming Bowser's Inside Story remake was made, and I'd have to play through the upcoming Bowser's Inside Story remake and fight Bowser X AGAIN before making my choice.
This is only a hack, it's not in the original game.
Still, it's totally worth playing, just keep in mind it's not official.
I weirdly imagine the Crystal King being like the Lich King from World of Warcraft
So the fight is still the same. Get frozen and you're pretty much screwed.
Whoa! I didn't know there was a Pro Mode in Paper Mario. I loved this game
It's a fan-made hack.
crystal was pretty cool in the original, be kinda of hard to alter him, unless you did something like this, crystal bits have 2 def, when spitting crystal bits at you they can freeze you, his other attack can also freeze you
kinda neat if the clones had a counter attack. or if the cold weather made it so items are frozen and have different properties (eating frozen food freezes you, or something) and maybe make mario freeze if he gets too cold, and have fire based attacks slow down the freeze process
Sads. They could've done much more with him.
Cedar Grove I felt like it would’ve been really cool if they made him charge up those little crystal things he summons if you didn’t kill them in the first turn they were there by increasing their attack and defense by 5 and also adding a blizzard in the fight that damaged Mario for 3 hp every turn and made him sometimes miss his attacks
Or lowering his attack by 1 instead of the missing
Shut up!
He wasn't a spiked originally

K very gg
I hope you mean Kooper, not Koops.
Yes, I get them mixed up all the time. Thanks.
No prob. :D
