      i can't believe you've done this actually I’d say he sounds like a contemporary artist or an aesthetic philosopher rather than a novel. The level of introspection is far more intense when he speaks compared to anything I’ve read

    Anything that calms you down, relaxes you is basically extremely addicting. That’s why so many people get addicted to Xanax.
    I have horrible panic attacks and once a friend gave me Xanax to help me calm down, it worked so well. Immediately. From that point on, anytime I was stressed, depressed etc. I was craving that feeling again. Which Xanax would give me. Yes there are other ways to “cope” and calm down but nothing will give you the same effect as a drug. That’s just how it is & that’s why they are so addictive.
    Benzodiazepines & Opioids are so dangerous.

      Same. I take Lexapro for my anxiety and my friend who actually is prescribed Xanax gave me one after I had 3 panic attacks in one period at school. And it was the best feeling. And next thing I knew, it was 2 a day. 3 a day. I became addicted within 2 weeks. 28 days to start a habit, 28 days to break a habit. I've been clean for over 3 years now. But I agree with you. Nothing has the same effect as drugs.

    @turricanedtc3764 Před rokem +3

    I literally just found this interview sort-of randomly, and I have to say that it's so refreshing to hear these subjects being approached like this. Healy deserves a lot of kudos for demanding from himself a level of self-awareness and reflection that has often been all too rare in the past from others in his position (which may have been a consequence of music industry PR insisting on a specific 'drugs [and opiates in particular] are bad, rehab showed me the light' narrative). Here he seems to be accepting something to the effect of "this one was on me, it stemmed from before I was in the band and I both enjoyed it and thought I could manage it right up until it became obvious I couldn't". Both he and the interviewer also make a point of the fact that he was fortunate enough not only to be able to take 7 weeks in Barbados to begin getting clean (which is beyond the reach of the vast majority of people who follow that path), but also that the band rallied behind him and took the financial hit to do so. Rather than make a big deal of the latter point, his sense of gratitude comes across as implicit - and in the moment maybe that makes it more powerful.

    I have been following for so long (from the us so that’s relative)
    I leave bands when I can read them.
    I can read you.
    In 2016 I delivered my son by myself at home alone because my husband was ‘late’ and I went into shock and straight functioned.
    I wish I could speak to you for a half hour.
